Luna Everleigh's POV
***
"Luna—"
I heard Rhydian's voice, strained, raw, but I couldn't afford to look at him. I could feel his pain, the remnants of Morganna's darkness still poisoning his body. He was trying to move, to help me, but I knew he wouldn't last in this fight.
"Stay down, Rhydian!" I shouted.
He growled in frustration, but his body betrayed him. His hands dug into the dirt as he fought to push himself up, only to collapse again, his breath ragged.
Kael stood a few feet away, his expression unreadable.
He had always hated me. Questioned me. Resented me.
But now, for the first time, something in his gaze shifted.
Acceptance.
"This isn't just about power, is it?" he muttered. "It's about vengeance."
Morganna let out a cold laugh. "Oh, you finally understand."
Dark energy swirled around her, and for a brief moment, I saw it—a glimpse into the past.
A younger Morganna, standing among the Lunar Guardians, her face filled with admiration.
Then—betrayal.
Her own kind turning against her, casting her into the abyss.
"You think I did this for a throne?" Morganna spat, her voice laced with venom. "I did this because they made me a monster. They took everything from me, so I will take everything from them."
The shadows around her thickened. The Devourer's form loomed behind her, its gaping maw swirling with endless void.
And then—
Morganna closed her eyes.
The darkness surged.
"No—"
I felt it before I saw it. The energy twisted, folding in on itself as she let the abyss consume her. The Devourer roared, its massive form distorting as Morganna merged with it, their powers intertwining into something new.
Something unstoppable.
A force unlike anything the world had ever seen.
