Chapter 22 - Chapter 22: Enel’s Fate

"Well done, Albedo." Ainz used a fire crystal to absorb the dissipating Primal Fire Element.

If left unchecked, it could wreak havoc on the island—something Ainz, who intended to claim this place, had no desire to see happen.

"Lord Francis?" Albedo gazed at Ainz with an almost devouring hunger in her eyes.

Were it not for the divine armor covering her face, Ainz might have noticed, and that would have been another troublesome situation to handle.

"Lord Francis! The ruler of this island should have sensed the commotion by now. Should we retreat for now?"

Demiurge had detected several lifeforms heading their way, though he found it strange—none of them possessed power anywhere close to the target Albedo had captured.

In fact, some were even weaker than the low-tier undead created by the Supreme One.

However, given that their objective had been temporarily achieved, there was no need to risk any unnecessary complications in Nazarick's conquest of this island.

Thus, Demiurge decided on a tactical retreat, intending to extract information from the captive before launching a proper assault.

"Let's withdraw for now." Ainz waved the Staff of Ainz Ooal Gown, and in an instant, the four of them vanished from the sky island.

…..

"Lord Ainz, it has been some time since that human was sent to Neuronist. Do you wish to check on him?"

While Ainz was deep in thought upon the Throne of Kings, Albedo entered the guild hall and addressed him.

Upon returning to the Great Tomb of Nazarick, Ainz had instructed Demiurge to hand Enel over to the real 'Interrogation Room' for questioning.

"Very well, Albedo."

Activating the Staff of Ainz Ooal Gown, Ainz teleported both himself and Albedo directly to the "Room of Truth," located in the Fifth Floor's "Frozen Prison."

"Lord Ainz! It is my utter failure to have the Supreme One step into such a cramped place!"

Neuronist Painkill, who had been preparing to interrogate Enel, immediately put down the torture instruments upon seeing Ainz's arrival.

"Neuronist, how is the information extraction going?" Ainz, with his gaze as indifferent as a drowned corpse, spoke calmly.

"Lord Ainz, though the human has regained consciousness, my torture devices have no effect on him.

Worse still, I am unable to consume his brain. If it weren't for the Supreme Beings' sealing enchantments suppressing most of his magic power, he might have escaped already."

Neuronist followed behind Ainz cautiously, explaining the situation.

"Who dares to attack a god?"

Even though Enel was shackled with sealing chains and suspended in the prison cell, arcs of electricity continued to surge from his body, striking the cell doors relentlessly.

'Is this... chuunibyou?' Ainz watched Enel's exaggerated theatrics through a magically conjured mirror.

He had already sensed something was off about Enel back on the sky island, but he hadn't expected him to still be like this even in captivity.

"Neuronist, stand guard here." Ainz and Albedo then teleported into the prison cell.

Boom!

Ainz effortlessly shattered the lightning that Enel discharged at him.

"Human, will you share information about that island with me?"

"What…?" Seeing Ainz's true form for the first time, Enel was momentarily taken aback.

However, as a full-fledged self-proclaimed god, he was hardly the type to be intimidated by such things.

"A mere demon dares to question a god?"

Before Enel could even finish his sentence, Albedo's fist, clad in Armament Haki, drove hard into his abdomen.

"You…?" Enel's body twitched violently as pain wracked through him.

His lack of physical combat ability left him utterly defenseless against one of Nazarick's strongest close-combat fighters.

The fact that his Logia-type intangibility had failed to protect him made him realize that this armored woman was the same one who had attacked him before.

"A mere insect dares to insult the Supreme Being?" Albedo ignored Enel's words, her voice dripping with killing intent.

Due to her modified settings, anyone who disrespected Ainz was fated for one thing—death.

Cough… cough….

"The only supreme being here is me!" Despite his injuries, Enel remained as arrogant as ever.

"Albedo."

Just as she was about to strike again, Ainz raised a hand to stop her.

"Human, I will give you one last chance. Tell me about that island, and I will spare your life."

Ainz gazed at Enel. He was particularly intrigued by Logia-type Devil Fruits.

If he could find a way to create similar magical items, it would greatly enhance Nazarick's power.

However, securing a stable resource base was even more crucial. If Enel refused to cooperate, he would simply be eliminated.

After all, Logia users could always be found again—but a strategic foothold was far more valuable.

"A god does not yield." Enel, having ruled over the sky island for so long without opposition, was too lost in his delusions to see his situation for what it was.

"Albedo… Kill him."

Ainz sighed, somewhat regretful about losing a potentially useful specimen, but securing a base took priority.

The moment Ainz gave the order, Albedo's Abyss of Hell beheaded Enel in a single, swift motion.

"What is this?" Just as Ainz was lamenting the loss of a promising experiment, he sensed a peculiar energy rapidly escaping from Enel's corpse.

"Neuronist, take care of this human's body. Albedo, wait here and prepare the island's intelligence report for me upon my return."

Without hesitation, Ainz cast a teleportation spell and followed the fleeing energy.
