And so, with the new development of the Gravity Chamber, and the understanding that anything higher wouldn't really be of any real use without a steady source of regenerative means, Bulma made the decision to leave it as a maximum of 5 times earth's gravity.
Elsewhere, two martial artists sparred with each other… Well, it was more of the elder teaching the younger a lesson, and a painful one at that. Master Roshi, and Yamcha were their names. Once the fight had been properly decided, Master Roshi was feeling a bit tired, and Yamcha was beaten black and blue all over.
"Yamcha, you really need to reflect on your actions carefully. It says a lot, when it's my victory. You were already near my strength 3 years ago. And you had surpassed it for a brief moment upon your return from Master Korrin."
Yamcha coughed, balling his hands into fists. "I know Master. I just…"
Roshi sighed. "Normally, I'd have left you on your own to solve this problem of yours. However, I'm taking a different approach. I won't allow you to become as misguided as the Ox King had been." He sat down, and in his exhaustion, began meditating. "Let's begin."
Yamcha, in his broken state of mind, didn't understand these words. "Didn't we already start Master Roshi? Why else-"
Master Roshi scoffed with a glare. "That was your punishment. If you couldn't understand that, we might as well start from square one. Now get up and begin."
Yamcha, not wanting to anger his master any further, got up and began meditating. It was then that he discovered how small he truly felt. Before our return I felt powerful, now I feel weaker than I was when training with Krillin. Why!? And why does Master Roshi still stay with me even now?
Master Roshi, being the master of Ki control that he is, was able to peek into Yamcha's mind. He's more broken than I thought. Was my influence really this bad? No, it doesn't matter, I am responsible for my students. Their actions reflect my teachings, I can not allow him to continue down this path. He'll end up making many terrible mistakes like Ox King did. "Hmm, that's not a bad idea."
Yamcha couldn't help but hear his master's words. "What is, Master?"
Master Roshi stood up and dusted himself off. "Stand up, we're going to pay a visit to an old student of mine."
Yamcha, in his currently injured state, struggled to his feet and was about to pull out a capsule car. That was until Master Roshi stopped him, shaking his head slowly. "Huh, Master, how are we going to get there?"
Master Roshi, in a rare moment, let himself smirk. "We're going to run. It'll give you enough time to think about things before we arrive. Now, follow me and don't ask questions. No cheating, no flying, no vehicles. Understood."
Yamcha gulped and reluctantly nodded, putting the capsule away. "Yes Master, I understand."
Just before the two started running, Master Roshi informed Puar who it was they were going to see. Puar got the message loud and clear, flying off to arrive first. Master Roshi, and Yamcha then took to running.
The pair of Master and Student, ran. They ran through the woods, climbed up and down the cliffs and mountains, around the canyon walls, and swam through the oceans. They took rests at regular intervals, each meant to make enough time for Puar to arrive first, and give Yamcha enough time to think about himself.
After several weeks of running circles around the world, the pair finally arrived at Ox King's Village. There wasn't a huge welcoming ceremony, but there was a small spread of prepared dishes. Puar was also over to the side playing tag with some of the village children.
Ox King spread his arms out and laughed, in a welcoming mood. "Master, welcome back. I've prepared these dishes for you as requested."
Master Roshi looked through his glasses, not at the food, but the women. "Heh heh, I see. It's good to see how much things have changed around here. I was right to come here with this other troublemaker."
Ox King looked at Yamcha, his face deepened with a solemn look. "Master, this young man, I see he has his struggles. I don't think we have the same but I'm more than happy to help out in whatever way I can."
Master Roshi nodded. "Good, I'll let him explain the situation to you. But I'll be listening to make sure he doesn't try any funny business."
And so, the three sat down and began eating. Yamcha, started explaining the story after eating a few bites of the delicious meal in front of him. However, it was once the whole story had been revealed, Ox King personally took Yamcha's plate away from him.
Yamcha in disbelief and hunger couldn't help but ask. "Why did you take my plate?"
Ox King glared. "I have no food to give a man that won't recognize his own child." He said nearly red with anger. "Even though I did some discourteous things in the past, I never once ignored my beloved daughter! Yet here you are a broken man that neglected his son, blew off the mother and cheated on her with a slew of other women. It's shameful. It's no wonder the Master beat you so badly."
Yamcha recoiled, hearing the words of his senior under the same master. His conviction lowered momentarily before… "I am weak, I was blinded by my desire to please myself. I'm not going to say that I'll change. I do not know what will happen in the future. But if I've learned anything in the last several days. It's that I deserved that beating, and I don't deserve to call Bosa my son. So, I will commit to working on myself, and earn the right to be his father."
Ox King, and Master Roshi glanced at each other from across the table. And with a great amount of reluctance, Yamcha's plate was returned to him.
Ox King grumbled slightly. "You're going to learn the hard way. You'd best make progress on that goal. Or I'll beat you myself, I swear this upon my guardian spirit the Ox!"
