Zack was about to leave the building when he noticed someone waiting for him at the entrance.
It was a tall man, dressed in an elegant yet dark suit, as if it reflected his mysterious nature. The man gave a calm smile, but there was something unsettling hidden behind it. Then, he spoke in a smooth yet powerful voice:
"Impressive performance back there, Zack Morkey."
Zack paused for a moment, surprised, but his face remained unreadable. The man continued speaking:
"You have talent, but you lack proper guidance. I can help you. I can make you stronger, faster, and more famous. You could become a legend in this underground world."
Zack didn't respond immediately, though he felt a slight interest in the offer. However, his instincts were warning him.
At that moment, the system spoke in his mind with an uncharacteristically serious tone:
"Oh, here we go. These kinds of offers always come with a heavy price, Zack. Remember, nothing comes for free in this world—especially when it comes to power."
It paused for a moment before adding in an even graver tone:
"Worse than that, if you get into these kinds of deals, you might find yourself tied to someone or an organization you can't escape from. And the worst part? You might end up falling behind on divine messages. And if that happens… well, you know what that means."
Zack, already considering the possibility that this man was connected to some illegal organization or had hidden motives, slowly turned and replied in a calm yet firm tone:
"Not interested. Thanks for the offer."
The man's expression didn't change, but he stared at Zack for a little longer, as if studying him carefully. Then, he gave a slight smirk and spoke in a low voice:
"That's unfortunate... but I'm sure we'll meet again, Zack Morkey."
Zack didn't like that, but he gave no response. He simply continued walking out of the building, ignoring the strange feeling this encounter had left behind.
Once outside, the system spoke in a sarcastic yet slightly serious tone:
"Congratulations, you just rejected your first attempt at being enslaved! See? I deserve some appreciation here."
Zack smirked slightly and said:
"Yeah, yeah. Thanks, oh great system."
The system chuckled mischievously and said:
"Just don't forget, the world is full of people who want to use you. Stay sharp, Zack."
Zack sighed and kept walking, heading toward the nearest store to buy some healthy food—he was still starving.
After purchasing some fruits and nutritious meals, Zack returned to his base beneath the theater. After a long and exhausting day, he sat on his bed, pulled up his system screen, and opened the storage menu.
As he browsed through its contents, he suddenly remembered something important.
"Alright, System, what about the random box I got? What can I find inside it?"
The system immediately appeared, as excited as ever when it came to rewards.
"Oh, the random box! Now we're talking! Alright, Zack, let me explain. This box is filled with all sorts of things—weapons, special stones, equipment, potions, and even some really weird stuff you'd never expect."
Zack raised an eyebrow and asked skeptically:
"Weird stuff? Like what?"
The system let out a small chuckle and said:
"Well, maybe you'll get a super sock, a magic-infused apple, or even an artifact that could change the course of battle. Who knows? Everything depends on luck, my friend."
Zack muttered as he thought,
"So, it's like gacha..."
"Exactly!" The system shouted excitedly. "But with different rarity levels! There's Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, and Legendary! And as you know, Legendary is the best of the best."
Zack smirked slightly and said:
"Alright, no point in waiting. Let's open this box and see what I get."
The random box appeared on his screen—it was a simple black metallic box with blue engravings, but it didn't look particularly impressive.
"Good luck!" The system said in a theatrical tone.
Zack pressed the "Open" button, and a blue glow radiated from the screen before a new notification popped up.
As he opened the random box, a strong red glow burst out, and moments later, a translucent message appeared before him:
"Congratulations! You have obtained a Legendary-Grade Weapon Box!"
Zack froze in place for a moment, while the system practically jumped with excitement inside his mind.
"No way! A Legendary Weapon Box?! Kid, you're the luckiest person I've ever met in my life!"
Zack couldn't believe what he was seeing, but he couldn't hide his smile either. A Legendary Weapon Box? That meant he was about to get something that could completely change the tide of his battles.
The box appeared in his inventory—it was slightly larger than expected, with a deep black color and golden engravings that faintly glowed. It looked like a real treasure.
"So, what are you waiting for? Open it! Open it now!" The system screamed with overwhelming excitement.
Zack, despite his excitement, decided to take a deep breath before making any move.
He placed the box on the worn-out table in his base, then stared at it for a few moments.
Muttering to himself, he said, "Alright, you foolish gods who brought me here… I know you're probably laughing at me right now, but if you have any mercy, make this weapon perfect for me."
The system chuckled mischievously and said, "What a pathetic prayer. But hey, maybe they're listening."
Zack reached out to the box, placing his hand on the lid. It felt cold to the touch, yet he could sense a strange energy radiating from it.
"Alright, let's see what I got."
He took a deep breath… then slowly opened the box.
A dazzling golden light burst out, nearly blinding him, forcing him to shield his face for a moment. The air in the room trembled slightly, as if a magical force had just been unleashed.
Then… the light gradually faded, revealing the prize he had obtained.
As the golden glow disappeared, Zack looked inside the box to find a pair of legendary pistols with a stunning design. One was white with elegant silver engravings, while the other was black with dark golden accents. Both radiated a mysterious energy, as if they were far more than ordinary weapons.
A translucent screen appeared before him, displaying the weapon's details:
"Congratulations! You have obtained the Legendary Twin Weapons: Ebony & Ivory."
(The Twin Demon Weapons, designed for both speed and power.)
Available Features:
Infinite Ammunition: No need to reload; bullets automatically replenish using demonic energy.
Locked Perks:
Charged Shot: Bullets can be charged to increase their destructive power.
Twisting Bullet: Fires a bullet that can change its trajectory to chase the target.
Armor Piercing: Bullets can penetrate barriers and heavy armor.
Zack stared at the weapons in his hands, completely stunned.
"Oh my god… This is insane!"
The system whistled loudly and exclaimed with excitement, "No way! This is even better than I expected! You now have one of the strongest weapons in this world!"
Zack spun the pistols in his hands, feeling their incredible lightness despite their apparent power. They were smooth and unbelievably fast.
"So… this is the luck you were talking about, huh?"
The system laughed and said, "Your luck today is unreal! Now, you have a real arsenal! Do you realize how powerful you've become?"
Zack smirked as he examined the pistols once more, then stored them in his inventory and said, "Alright, let's see how effective these are in real combat."
The system: "Oh, lucky master, you can upgrade your gunmanship skills for just $700. It'll be basic for now, but it'll help you master your new weapons faster!"
Zack: "Perfect!"
After Zack agreed to repair the shooting range, a notification appeared on his screen:
"$700 has been deducted from your remaining balance of $1,015."
The place transformed from a pile of junk into a basic shooting range, equipped with stationary targets and decent lighting.
"Nice, this is much better." Zack said as he prepared his legendary pistols, then moved toward the starting point.
He stood in a combat stance, gripping Ebony & Ivory firmly, then started firing.
"Bang! Bang! Bang!"
The pistols unleashed rapid shots, each bullet hitting the target with a small explosive impact. Once Zack finished his first training round, the results appeared on the screen in front of him:
10 shots fired
6 shots hit the target
If we exclude the auto-aim feature, the real score would be only 4/10.
The system whistled mockingly and said, "Dude, if it weren't for your partial auto-aim, your shooting would be a disaster!"
Zack sighed as he looked at the results. "Damn, I didn't think I was this bad."
The system laughed and said, "Don't worry! You've got legendary weapons now, but that doesn't mean you're automatically a pro! You need to train to improve your accuracy. Otherwise, you'll be completely dependent on auto-aim, and that won't always be reliable!"
Zack tightened his grip on the pistols and said, "Alright then, let's go for another round. This time, I'll rely on my real skills."
He prepared again, planted his feet firmly, controlled his breathing, and started firing with more precision. The training had begun!
After finishing his training, Zack stood up, wiping the sweat off his forehead, as the results appeared on the screen:
Total hits: 10
Headshots: 1
Other hits: 9
Excluding auto-aim:
9 body shots
1 missed bullet
The system whistled in admiration and said, "Well, that's a noticeable improvement! You're no longer fully relying on auto-aim, which is great."
Zack smiled and said, "Of course, after all that training, I had to get better."
The system replied mockingly, "But the real question is… can you aim like that in an actual battle, where the enemy isn't standing still like a training dummy?"
Zack frowned for a moment and said, "That's why I need to keep training. I won't let my life depend on just luck or assistive abilities."
He glanced at the clock again—12:00 midnight.
With a sigh, he said, "Alright, it's late. I think I'll head back to sleep."
He shut down the range and made his way to his room in the base, preparing for a new day full of challenges.
