Chapter 25 - The Fox in the Dream
Erin's reaction didn't seem fake.
As a matter of fact, Yu Sheng contacted with this mannequin until now, he didn't find that this guy had ever been insincere, her every word and action revealed so much clear honesty, as if her brain was solid - it's either her acting skills were too high, or her brain was really solid.
Yusheng cautiously maintained the first guess, but preferred the second possibility.
Later, he described to Irene the appearance of the dead doll and the posture of the huge "shadow monster" that was suspected to have died with the doll, but the answer was still "I don't know".
Yusheng frowned and fell into deep thought.
Erin, on the other hand, couldn't help but get curious, "Hey, why did you suddenly come and ask me that? Didn't you go upstairs to sleep?"
Yu Sheng hesitated for a moment before finally deciding to tell the mannequin in front of him about the changes in that room - it didn't involve his secrets, and it might also have something to do with Erin herself, so telling it might help solve the mystery instead.
"That room upstairs, something's going on ..."
Yu Sheng one by one to the situation he just went upstairs to see Irene told once again, the latter this time a rare whole without beeping, just listening to listen to the eyes opened wide, to listen to the end of another stunned for a long time, only to finally woke up generally elongated voice: "wow- "
Yu Sheng immediately felt that even if he talked to this guy, he wouldn't be able to solve the mystery.
"It looks like you don't know what's going on either," Yu Sheng sighed, "You must not have seen that mirror either have you."
"Haven't seen it, don't know," Erin nodded matter-of-factly, followed closely by the addition, "but I think you're getting quirky with this house."
"I don't need you to say this, I also think," Yu Sheng sighed with a sniff, "open the door may run to some place, inside some room will suddenly change the furnishings, the mirror will reflect the scenery of God knows when and where, thanks to me before I have always felt that this place is quite livable, alas! ..."
Irene opened her scarlet eyes and watched the expression on Yu Sheng s face without blinking, and hesitated after listening to the latter s broken thoughts, "So ... you are planning to change your house? Not living here anymore?"
Yu Sheng didn't say anything for a while, but he had to say that he did consider this matter.
After all, the house occasionally more than a haunted mirror of unknown origin furniture suspicious appliances or be sealed in the oil painting of the beeping Ji what he can tolerate, their own death is not afraid of the case of the right to increase the fun of life, but a push the door may be dropped in which the characteristics of the otherworldly realm that can be a real problem, it is not to hold back on it can be passed.
For Raw, the most damaging thing about this exotic thing going in wasn't that it killed him, but that it wasn't always possible to come back out, and that alone made him indeed entertain the idea of living somewhere else.
Irene, on the other hand, saw Yu Sheng has been silent, quiet for a while then self-centered continue to speak: "That if you look at which house first with me to say Oh, you think of a way to get me into their neighborhood, I'll give you to knock down their prices ..."
Yu Sheng sniffed, "I was just joking at the time ... You don't mind that this is an insult to the Ancestor of Dolls and your sisters at this point?"
"I just thought about it carefully, and I feel like this process you're talking about makes a lot of sense," Erin said in a serious manner, "And I've helped you knock down the price of the house, so that's more or less a discount for the favor of living in your house, right?"
Yu Sheng suddenly reacted that this guy seemed to be just worried that he would leave her here if he suddenly moved out.
But he didn't point this out, he just shook his head, "Let's not talk about it, I just have a bit of an idea, but I'm not planning on moving just yet - don't worry, I'll take you with me if I really want to move, it's not like a painting is going to take up a lot of space."
"Oh, that's fine!" Erin was instantly happy.
Soon, though, a bit of sadness returned to her face, "That ... dead doll you saw in the mirror, were her eyes closed?"
"... don't seem to have one," Yusheng recalled, "why do you ask?"
Erin opened her mouth and looked a little sad, "After a living doll is broken, if the eyes are closed, that's the soul going back to the garden of Alice's cottage, where we'll be reborn, but if the eyes are still open ... then she's still 'there' '."
Yu Sheng froze, suddenly regretting a little that he had just given the answer without thinking first, he should have asked first.
"We don't know exactly what place is reflected in the mirror," he said softly after a few moments of silence, "but since she appeared in the mirror, she might have a connection with this house as well, and sometime in the future maybe we'll find her, and as for now don't think about it so much, you yourself are still trapped here."
"Well, also," Erin sighed, "Occasionally it's a sister who goes out and then loses contact with ... will always come across, well, will come across."
Yu Sheng suddenly felt as if this mannequin wasn't as heartless as he thought.
He then spoke to Erin for a while longer before returning to the second floor again.
He went back to make sure that the room at the end of the hallway was the same as he had just seen it, so he ignored it and turned into his bedroom.
Pulled the curtains, lying in bed, Yu Sheng tossed and turned for a long time, he was sleepy and tired, but his mind was messy instead of how to sleep, all kinds of thoughts recently experienced things like a turbulent current in his mind - Irene's things, that valley in the night, the knowledge of the exotic world, the one that to the last one struggled to remain sanity, the fox girl who told herself to run fast, and ... his own return from the dead.
It had been tossing and turning for an unknown amount of time before Yu Sheng gradually drifted off to sleep.
He felt as if his consciousness was slowly submerged in a gentle and chaotic pool of water, even when he fell asleep, those chaotic "turbulence" around the pool of water around him, he measured those fragments of his own memories and thoughts through a layer of chaotic mist, and heard a lot of hazy voices coming from his ears until his consciousness hit the bottom of the "pool of water" and gradually fell into silence around him. He heard many hazy voices in his ears, until his consciousness hit the bottom of the "pool" and silence gradually fell around him.
As Yusheng wandered in his dream, wandering in the dim light of day, he saw himself walking in the wilderness, which seemed to have a small hill on the far side.
He felt like he had been wandering around this hill for a long, long time, with no purpose and no idea who he was.
But a flash of color out of the corner of his eye suddenly stopped him in his tracks.
Between a dim and chaotic sky and earth, Yu Sheng saw a bright color, and he subconsciously walked towards that silver-white, followed by a flash in front of his eyes, and then he came directly in front of that silver-white.
He saw a demon fox with silvery-white fur - lying down all of two or three meters tall - sleeping quietly in the wilderness.
Beautiful, elegant and serene.
The breeze was blowing from afar, ruffling the slender weeds and the silvery-white fluff of the demon fox's body, and she showed no signs of waking up, just curling up quietly, many thick tails curling up behind her, some of which were cradled in her arms, some of which were covering her body like a quilt.
Yu Sheng looked at the fox that had appeared in his dream world with astonishment - he had been awake since some time ago and realized that he was dreaming.
After hesitating for a moment, he took two steps forward and tentatively touched the big fox's front paw, "... Hoochie, is that you?"
The white fox, however, remained asleep, unresponsive to Raw's touch and call.
Yusheng greeted her a few more times, and even tried tugging on her tail, but it didn't wake the beaver up.
It gave the impression as if she wasn't just asleep, but as if she was shielded from perception by something.
Yusheng frowned and took two steps back slightly.
Why was this fox in his dream world?
He admitted that before he fell asleep, his mind is messy thinking, indeed thought of the fox trapped in the foreign world, but now this situation is obviously not an ordinary "daydreaming", he can feel that the beaver is really "right here".
In the midst of his thoughts, Yu Sheng's heart suddenly stirred as he sensed something and immediately looked down at his right hand.
A tiny bead of blood oozed from his finger, and a shallow ring of embossment could be seen around it.
That was the very same chocolate that the other man had given him a bite out of when his food-protecting instincts kicked in when he snatched it back from the beaver earlier.
Yu Sheng looked at this scene, and suddenly recalled the previous situation in the valley, when he suddenly "saw" Hu Beaver's memory fragments and sensed part of the other party's thoughts.
"Because of the blood?"
He realized that the other party's presence here might have something to do with the fact that she had accidentally "eaten" her own blood.
But immediately afterward, doubts bubbled up in his mind - that frog in the rain and that abstract flesh-and-blood monster had also eaten his blood, so how come they hadn't appeared here? That flesh and blood monster had also eaten several meals, much more than the beaver ...
Just as Yusheng's thoughts gradually began to run in a bizarre direction, he sensed something violently, and then, immediately afterward, he heard a low, mocking, soft laugh suddenly coming from the grass behind him.
Sounds a little familiar.
Yu Sheng violently turned back to look at the direction from which the sound came, and in the next second he heard Irene's exasperated complaint ringing out from the bushes, "Said you don't enjoy it you don't enjoy it, can't hold it back ah! You see it's been discovered ..."
Yu Sheng expressionlessly looked at the oil painting frame poking in the grass, as well as the Irene in the frame who was hugging a teddy bear and giggling at herself in an attempt to cute her way through.
"No more fun watching TV, so I came to see you dream ..."
Chapter 26 - Irene's skills
Erin has the ability to burrow into other people's dreams - and according to her, she can do more than just burrow into people's dreams, she can also influence the direction of the dreams to some degree, such as ringing the wind-up bell to summon a dump truck in a dream or something like that.
Seriously, it seems to be a very powerful skill when used well, and you can probably do high-end operations like psychic suggestion mental parasitism memory remodeling on people.
But Yu Sheng was skeptical of how much of this doll's bragging about her abilities could be relied upon - as of right now, it seemed that she was a waste of space even in the dream realm, and couldn't even hide well in the bushes.
And even when you get inside the dream world you're still trapped in that painting.
Irene's oil painting floated in front of Yu Sheng, the doll girl in the frame looked a bit awkward, while Yu Sheng looked at her in her current state how awkward - her floating in mid-air might as well be hanging on the wall.
"You can only stay in the painting even in the dream world, huh?" Yu Sheng tugged at the corner of his mouth and finally asked the doubt in his heart, "I thought all the way to the spiritual realm, you could at least come out and run ..."
"How else to say it's a curse," Erin looked helpless, "reality is trapped in the painting, and so is the spirit world, no matter where I run, I can't get out of this painting unless I find the right vehicle - freedom? It's not even in the dream lah."
"Then this is indeed quite miserable for you." Yu Sheng sighed from the bottom of his heart.
"Hey, but in the dream world is still a little different from the real world ah!" Seems to be feeling a little bit of face, Erin took a look at this sympathetic reaction of Yu Sheng then hurriedly find a remedy for herself, "I'm more or less a little bit freer over here than in the real world, you can see that I'm still able to float around ... You don't laugh, but also, there's more to it than that!"
Yu Sheng raised his eyebrows at that and was kindacurious, "More than that?"
Irene thought about it, posed with the same shape as the 98 Fighter in the explosion of gas, began to make a look in the oil painting, as if to start what ability, even Yu Sheng were all of a sudden bluffed by her, subconsciously serious up to watch the painting of the doll changes, and in the next second, the oil painting surface really floating layer of psychedelic light!
As Yu Sheng's eyes widened, the painting finally "thumped" - turning into a poster in the style of the 1980s.
Erin changed the tone of the old movie and stood wide-eyed with Yu Sheng in the poster.
Erin: "I can change the drawing style."
Yusheng: "..."
"You're happy out loud!!!"
Yusheng strained his face, "I didn't."
"Heartbeat!"
Yu Sheng didn't want to continue to bother with this mannequin, the big fox was still lying next to him and he hadn't figured her out yet.
Irene suddenly a little hurt, see Yu Sheng do not take care of their own then floating on the side of the broken read up: "I can also change other it, prints ah, scrolls and so on ... I'm still researching how to change the relief, then I will have the thickness, you can no longer say that I have a thin persona... ..."
Yu Sheng couldn't stand her broken thoughts and suddenly twisted his head and said, "First, when did I say that you have a thin persona? Secondly, that's not how the term thin persona is used either-similarly, you're just turning into marble doesn't make your persona thick because of it."
Erin opened her mouth to say something, but before she could, she transformed back into a painting with a thud - her transformation time was up, and it lasted less than three minutes combined.
Yu Sheng was dumbfounded: he knew that this mannequin was wasteful even in the dream world, but he really didn't think it could be wasteful to this extent ...
But there was nothing lost on Erin this time, as she finally noticed the white fox sprawled out on the grass right next to her - or rather, she finally noticed that there was something about the large fox that seemed out of place in the dream environment around her, and curiosity made her shift her attention, "Say, this fox is What's going on? How come it's not the same color as its surroundings?"
Noticed some puzzled expression on Yu Sheng's face, she followed with an explanation: "Normal people dream things basically tend to a uniform tone, even if the dreamer can't notice it himself, I can see it when I look on, just like your dream, the sky and the grass are all gray, which is the 'baseline tone' for your dream. ', but this fox ... looks as if it is running on the wrong set."
At this point she paused and looked at Yu Sheng with some suspicion, "How did such a strange phenomenon appear in your dream?"
Yu Sheng was silent for a moment, turned to look at the sleeping white fox, and slowly spoke, "Her name is Hu Beaver."
"I know, it looks like a fox ..."
"I meant her name, Hu Beaver," Yu Sheng corrected helplessly, then reminded, "Remember what I told you earlier when I was trapped in that 'foreign land'? I met a fox, the white fur, red eyes, bunch of tails kind ..."
Erin froze, her not-so-good memory finally running slowly, recalling what Yu Sheng had mentioned to her earlier.
Her expression rose wonderfully, staring wide-eyed at the huge demon fox, opening her mouth several times before finally stifling her words, "What? How did you capture her into your own dream world ... eh no, how are you so capable of putting someone in ..."
"It's not something I captured, and I don't feel like she's really 'locked up' here, it's supposed to just be something like a shadow? I can't quite put my finger on it," Yusheng had to explain, "I saw her not long after I fell asleep, but I couldn't wake her up."
Erin looked at Yu Sheng, then turned her head to look at the demon fox, her eyes flicked between the two "people" several times, as if she was trying to smooth out the logic of what was going on in front of her, but it was obviously not very easy.
"I've never heard of such a thing ..." she muttered in surprise, then suddenly turned the frame to stare dead into Yu Sheng's eyes, "Are you really a person?"
Yu Sheng immediately frowned, "How do you say that! If I'm not a human being are you?"
Erin, however, was still staring at him, with an unprecedentedly serious expression on her face, "Okay, a human, an ordinary human, living in a foreign realm for a long period of time without realizing it, and running into another foreign realm and encountering a malignant entity, and even if he came out of it alive, he even sliced up a 'local specialty' from that entity, and fried it up, and ate it. After eating it, he was alive and kicking, and now he was able to store another mind in his dream world - the body of this mind was even trapped somewhere else.
"Just so many outrageous things that have happened to you, and then you say - you're a human being? An ordinary person?"
Yu Sheng was Irene that pair of scarlet eyes staring gradually a bit awkward, he subconsciously turned his eyes, heart said there is still a "back from the dead" it, the previous those outrageous things compared to the last one that is nothing ...
"Indeed ... a lot of strange things happened, I myself is a little confused, but if I have to say, even you to me is one of the recent 'strange things'," Yu Sheng helplessly said, "Don't look at me, and I don't know what's going on, this beaver call can't wake up, but any can wake up maybe can ask her about the situation."
Eileen stared at Yu Sheng for a while longer, seemingly confirming that the latter wasn't joking, before she slowly withdrew her gaze and refocused her attention on the Silver White Demon Fox.
She thought about it for a long time.
"I have an idea."
Erin said suddenly.
"Ideas?" Yu Sheng asked curiously, "Tell me?"
"I'll try to burrow into this fox's dreams again, if she happens to be dreaming at this time as well," Erin raised her hand and pointed at the demon fox, "She's in what looks a lot like a mind blockade, but no matter how well blocked the mind is, it's hard to put up defenses in the dream world, so maybe I can 'see' something, it would be nice to take the opportunity to wake her up over here."
Yu Sheng was really a bit surprised, after all, just now he was still lamenting the unreliability of this mannequin, but he didn't expect the other party to throw out such a set of high-end programs now, and he couldn't hide his surprise: "This kind of thing can also be done?"
"It's not hard, as long as she's dreaming too ... Even if she's not dreaming, the two of your minds are clearly connected right now, and I have a way to 'squeeze' through to see what's going on, it's just... . it's a bit risky and I need your help."
Yu Sheng's expression instantly became serious, "No problem, you tell me what to do."
"Because having to jump between minds is the equivalent of having to 'dive deep' in unstable waters, and once the 'connection' in the middle goes wrong, I could be trapped on the 'other side '," Erin said as she looked at Yu Sheng very seriously, "So, I need a 'rope' and will be that rope.
"You're going to 'dive' with me, continuing down from your own dream world, sinking deeper into the mind of this great fox, and you're going to share some of the pressure with me, making it easier for me to separate my mind from my search for direction, and if anything does go wrong in the process... ...I will use a bit more drastic means to 'wake you up'.
"Your awakening has the highest priority in this serial dream world, and will even 'yank' my mind back as well so that we can both return to the real world safely, but I should warn you first that my 'wake-up ' process might not be that comfortable."
"How uncomfortable can it be?"
"... It's probably like dreaming of taking a college entrance exam and then before you can write your name the closing bell rings, and before you have time to react to what's going on a dump truck crashes into the exam room, knocking you into a paper-thin persona along with your high school's most memorable white moonlight, a particularly one-dimensional one ..."
Yu Sheng was completely unable to figure out what the bastard was talking about from Erin's marvelous analogy.
But he figured that shouldn't be a big deal, it was just one wake-up call, and how much more uncomfortable could it be than death?
More than that hesitation, he wanted to figure out what kind of situation Beaver was in right now, and what was going on with his dream.
"No problem, let's get started," Yusheng inhaled softly and nodded solemnly to Erin, "What's the first step?"
"You go over there and get close to that big fox, as close as you can ... lay right on her tail.
"Then, hugging my frame, closing my eyes, we take off in dreamland."
Chapter 27: Into the Depths of Dreams
What Erin wanted to do by himself was pretty simple.
Basically, just find a place to lie down out of the way and don't get up and make a mess.
Yu Sheng came to the side of the still-sleeping silver-white demon fox, circled around her huge body and a large pile of tails, and found a place that seemed to be more comfortable - an indentation where two large tails overlapped each other.
He bent down and tugged at the fluff on the beaver's tail to adjust the position of the tail, and patted the fur on the other tail to fluff it up a bit more, and Erin watched in awe, "You're making a bed, aren't you?"
"It's not about lying down comfortably," Yusheng said extra naturally while leaning back against the large, silvery-white, fluffy tail, "God knows how long you'll need it, and I'm a person who demands quality sleep ... "
Eileen let out a "ch" sound, equal to the fact that Sheng floated over after lying down, and then the entire frame landed straight on the latter's chest, "Catch it."
Yu Sheng hurriedly hand and foot to catch the picture frame from the mid-air fall, and even once thought that this guy is in the revenge of his own heart just now out of the sound of the revenge to smash their own: "I go! Can't you say something before you fall down!"
He at least managed to catch Erin without being framed by the other man, and then he adjusted his position, half-laying back and leaning on one of the beaver's large tails, cupping Erin's frame in both hands and exhaling softly as he waited for the moment to sink back into dreamland.
Sinking down into another dream in your own dream world is quite an unprecedented experience.
In the oil painting came the low humming of Irene, it was some kind of ancient song, as if accompanied by a distant and nostalgic atmosphere, couldn't understand the lyrics, but could feel a gradually calming power seeping into the bottom of his heart little by little, Yu Sheng felt that his eyelids began to become heavy, and in the midst of a half-dreaming consciousness, he glanced down again at the oil painting that he held in front of his body.
As if holding someone's last photo.jpg.
Yusheng: "..."
How does this mannequin always manage to get this tone-deaf situation!
In the next instant, his thoughts were abruptly interrupted by this somewhat rushing thought, followed by a violent descent in a burst of nothingness right into the deepest recesses of this dream.
He felt that he had lost control of his body all of a sudden, or ... he couldn't feel the existence of his body anymore, and it was as if he had turned into a vapid perspective, darting through a series of memories, thoughts, and perceptual information that didn't belong to him, and the shadows around him were heavy, as if a number of overlapping fragments of reflections had intertwined to form continuous curtain, which in turn merged into a tunnel with no end in sight.
The voice buzzed and rumbled, information flooding into his mind, and he couldn't even begin to tell if it was a voice he was actually hearing or a memory that was floating directly into his mind -
Someone was shrieking, something was exploding, there was a whistling sound coming from the power structure of the fairy shuttle, they were falling, the shuttle rushed out of its orbit and crashed into a side of the world that was out of its path, as if it had come out of nowhere.
With a huge impact, the Immortal Shuttle crashed into a dark and heavy mountain, and the device spirit ran out from the Heavenly Weapon and fought with the Immortal who was driving the Immortal Shuttle, arguing about things like "deducting spirit stones", "rough driving", "reporting to the Immortal Sect", and so on. "Afterwards, with an explosion, the spirit died, and many others died.
Those that survived are dying one after another.
All the deaths and partings were reduced to a series of fragments passing rapidly before Yusheng s eyes, and he saw the already yellowed and blurred figures dying of starvation, of the poisons in the mountains and forests, of the fights under despair, of the malice that ... abounded everywhere and nowhere in this valley.
The valley itself wants to kill them, by driving out the power of hunger.
The "tunnel", which seemed to have no end in sight, suddenly disappeared, and Yu Sheng found himself in a faded scene - after passing through many confusing fragments of memories, he finally arrived at the dreamland of the beaver at this moment.
As Erin had said, the tones in the dream world were converging, everything here was flooded with a stale, deactivated grayish quality, the dark, dark sky, the dark woods, the dirty, gray dirt and stone, just looking at it felt depressing as hell.
"Erin?" Yu Sheng tried to call out mentally as he didn't see the other party's figure.
"I am."
"Where are you?" Yusheng looked around, "Why don't I see you?"
"With you," Erin's voice seemed to come directly from her head, a ... marvelous feeling, "you can't see me, and you can't see your own body, we're now two infiltrated in 'alien consciousnesses', it's nice to have a perspective."
"Oh, so that's how it is." Yu Sheng realized, and immediately after that, he began to look for Hu Beaver's figure in the grove.
He didn't have to look for long, in fact almost as soon as the thought of going to the other man had just occurred to him, he heard voices coming from a short distance away.
It was the sound of digging in the dirt.
Yu Sheng immediately followed the sound, his perspective floating through the shadowed forest, and soon after he saw the white figure.
The silver-haired girl in the tattered dress sat on her knees at the edge of the forest clearing, her otherwise fluffy and pretty foxtail looking dirty and wretched from being wrapped in the dirt and mud, her head down as she fought to dig something in the dirt, muttering as she did so, and all around the young girl there were deep pits, large and small, dug out by her hands.
Yusheng "floated" over to the beaver.
The beaver couldn't see him, still digging hard, his hands digging into the dirt again and again.
Erin's voice suddenly entered Yu Sheng's mind, "Strike up a conversation, strike up a conversation with her."
"She can't even see us."
"It's okay, just talk to her, it's a dream, she'll give a response - there's no such thing as an unreasonable dream for a dreamer."
Yu Sheng thought for a moment and looked at the demon fox girl, "What are you digging for?"
"Mom and Dad ..." The Beaver, true to form, was not the least bit puzzled by the voice he suddenly heard, but replied naturally, "I remember burying them here... .obviously buried them right here ..."
Yu Sheng somehow felt a sinking in his heart, and subconsciously asked again, "Why do you ... want to dig them out?"
"I ... I miss them," Beaver gradually stopped, with a hint of blank emptiness in his eyes, but still subconsciously answered, "I'm so hungry, I want to tell them I'm so hungry . . but I held on, they said not to listen to that monster, I kept holding on, but ... so hungry ..."
The Beaver lowered his head, glanced at his dirt-covered hands, and resumed digging, muttering as if to himself as he did so, "They should have been right here, they must have been here, all the way down here properly ... I listened to them, all the time, I didn't listen to that monster ..."
"She's not in the right state of mind," Erin's voice came into Yusheng's mind, "It's so wrong ..."
"I know ah, I sensed that her mental state was not right the first time we met." Yu Sheng likewise replied in his mind.
"I'm not talking about that, I'm talking ... about the fact that it seems like something else is mixed inside her spirit, something is trying to intervene, interfere with her mind," Erin explained, trying to illustrate some sort of complexity to Raw, the layman. "There's someone else's voice in her voice - her own will has been holding her together, but the foreign thinking is getting to be too much for her."
Erin stopped abruptly at that.
The beaver stopped digging, got up with a bewildered expression, took a few steps to the side, and then stood in the clearing again in a daze.
Yu Sheng immediately followed, and in the next second, it was as if he heard a faint, muffled voice.
The voice actually seemed to come straight from his heart, even as if he had whispered it to himself--
"Dig in, dig them out" ...
"You just want to meet with them, you just want to make sure that you're really listening to them properly, you haven't seen each other in a long time, right ...
"'I' miss them ..."
The beaver looked back blankly at the deep hole he had dug.
"I miss them ..." she said softly.
Yu Sheng reacted suddenly, realizing that the voice he had just heard coming from his heart was the "foreign intervention" mentioned by Irene!
He was connected to the beaver's dream and spirit, so what he heard just now was not his own "heart", but the voice of the beaver's heart!
The beaver slowly turned in another direction in the clearing, as if trying to keep digging.
Each handful of dirt was gradually digging through her own mental defenses.
Yu Sheng finally realized what the voice was compelling him to do, and a chill suddenly welled up from the bottom of his heart, causing him to subconsciously yell out, "Hu Beaver!"
The fox demon girl paused in bewilderment, looking back at the edge of the empty woods.
It took a while for a bit of clarity to return to her eyes and to recall where she had heard that familiar voice.
"... benefactor?"
However, the forest was empty, and there was no more sound coming from Yu Sheng, and the call just now seemed to be just an illusion.
The Beaver stood in the clearing in a daze, and after a moment she noticed the large pits around her that she had dug out.
The fox demon girl's face finally gradually showed her panic.
She woke up, jerking awake before the final step in the collapse of her defenses.
