I wasn't particularly a morning person but I also couldn't pass of a visit to Argon, my previous home.
It was dawn with the sun slowly raising in the distance as I found my way at the port leading outside the Island.
Slayers island as it was called wasn't particularly far from Argon, it was quite near actually and even from were I stood I could see the neon city scape faintly in the distance.
As I arrived the port were out transportation to land was waiting I was greeted first and fourth by Isis whom approach me with a stern look.
"Late as always."
The girl honestly, why the heck did she always find a fault in me.
"Woah now Isis don't be hard on the guy."
The one to comment was a slender and almost femine looking gentle man a bit older than mean. Judging by his physique he was probably nineteen but truth be told I felt he was a younger. Anyway the young man had wavy medium length brown hair and crystal green eyes. His lips were curcled into a charming smirk as he pulled up the collars of his tactical black jacket and placed his arm around my neck.
"Isis you see ,Rennie boy here is our leader, we got to show him some respect."
"Tch."
"Struck a nerve."
Believing he had gone under Isis skin, his smirk grew as he nod in satisfaction.
"Seth you're making the commander uncomfortable."
Another voice followed, this was a deep soothing but emotionally non-existent tone accompanied by a tug that sent Seth of his shoulder and into the waters ahead.
"Oops!"
Now taking Seth's place was a petite white haired girl, with hollow red eyes. Even if her face appeared as blank as a board, I could see a mischievous and almost petty smile tugging at her lips as she watched Seth grabbing the bridge and climbing back in land, completely soaked with a few fishes stuck onto his clothing.
"I'm good."
Nobody asked but he made his condition knew as he heavily panted on the ground, his chest raising and falling. As for me I carefully watched the white haired girl, her name was AI and all I could say about her was she was weird but she seemed to have taken a liking to me unlike most of the other Demiurge maybe because of that I wasn't as wary around her like Seth whom even with the link I had established with him couldn't read his thoughts process.
"Alright enough playing around...time for team briefing."
Clasping my hands together, I gathered my team before me and gave them all a stern look.
"I know some of you are disappointed in me for the stunt I pulled a while back...."
"Three days ago isn't a while back!"
"Come one now Isis please let me finish."
With a pleading look I said to Isis whom wasn't even giving me the chance to speak.
"If this about forgiveness commander I want you to know, you have my vote." Seth gave me a thumbs up with I ignore.
"I just want all of us to set out differences aside and see this mission through. Is that enough?"
"Saying so I turn to Isis whom wasn't convinced but willing to abide by my command if it meant it was a mission.
"I so wish you weren't the only linker."
She cussed underneath her breath knowing full well I would have head her words but honestly if I was a genie I would have granted her wish because being the only shackle to me was more of a burden than a reward and If I could share said burden I would be up to for.
"Now that we'll come to an agreement, I want each of us to safe check out gear one last time before he leave."
The trio nod dispersing to go about their business. Trailing behind Isis whom went to the dock, I sighed and approached her from behind, taking a stand beside her as we quietly stared at the ocean and the city in the distance.
The cold breeze for a moment were suppressed by the chilling expression Isis was making and trying my best to ignore it, I turned to leave, for a moment I might just have been imagining it but I found Isis glance back at me as I left but one's I tried meeting her gaze I found her still engrossed in observing the distant waters and cityscape.
Next I visited Seth, still dripping with water and sitted on the ground.he was carefully counting the metallic arrow within his quiver. Examining and analysis each arrow to see if they were in good shape and the right ones.
"Oh commander!"
Noticing me he stopped and he waved at me with a cheerful smile. Their he was again with that smile, the kind of smile that was obviously fake but also strangely endearing.
"Counting you arrows?"
"Yeah.." he scratched his cheek shly and contuined,".....my little sister has a habit of messing with them and misplacing their position so I'm counting and rearranging them for my comfort."
"I see." I nod.
I usually tried not involving myself in my teams personally life so this was a first I was hearing Seth had a sister. AI and Isis must have knew since they have been with him for years.
"Their my team, I need to know more about them."
Making a mental note of such thought, I patted Seth in the shoulder and continued forth to AI whom was weaponless for the today.
"You didn't bring Hercules?"
I muttered causing her to glance at me before shaking her head.
"Her got damaged in a training spar against the Valkyrie. So Herc will have to sit this one out."
Another new information I was learning about my team and this one being they actually spared with other teams.
I knew the Valkyrie after all they had been the first time I had worked with or more so kidnapped me and lead me to this whole mess.
Ofcourse even if I spoke ill of them I had to admit they were an elite squad consisting of some of the strongest Demiurge on this island.
"Might I presume that brutal Skuld was the one whom broke it."
"Nay...it was Bryn after I told her I wanted to get strong so I could protect you."
Her words left me speechless as I couldn't help but pat her head in appreciate.
She giggled upon my actions, showing a smile which was rare for her but even so her words somewhat tug at the strings of my heart telling me I really needed to know more about my team.
