"that isn't a concern you should have could you just test the purity of the gold and give me the price at which I can exchange it for in Cash money?"
The man replied
"This is a rare occurrence, I'm sure there must be some sort of reason why it's happening now, but I think we should investigate it further, I'll ask for permission from headquarters, so please hold off selling them until after that."
Antares nodded in response to the request. He would need time to research the matter before making a decision anyway.
"Can I sell some accessories then?...."
"yes... I should be able to take a look at it and give you a reasonable price"
The young looking Male Receptionist of this shop was standing behind the counter, he wore a white shirt with a red tie and a pair of black trousers, and his hair was short and spiky, Antares noticed that the receptionists were wearing different outfits depending on the store, this particular person was probably a member of the "Pawn", they were required to wear business clothes when working since they dealt with people from all walks of life, it wasn't uncommon to see members of the public come into these shops to purchase items.
It housed many items, but what was different from normal exchange shops was the fact that it had everything including monsters devils humans it even had organs on sale and exchange this is what people would call the black market.
"I'll show you some of the products available first sir..."
He walked towards the back of the shop and opened a door that led to a room, inside was an array of things, most of it was junk, but there were also several good quality pieces, Antares recognized one of those pieces as being a rare item that only existed within the Hunter Association, he was familiar with it because he owned it.
"Here are some samples of our stock sir"
"I don't want any of the products I just want to Exchange this Accessory here for Cash."
No matter what I ask for this guy just keeps ignoring it.
this is going to be troublesome if I keep having to deal with him every time I want to exchange something
Antares sighed in frustration
He decided to ignore the man's attitude and focus on exchanging the accessory, he took it out of his pocket and handed it over to the man, and the man inspected the object carefully.
It was a pendant that was made out of solid gold, the design was simple yet elegant, it was shaped like a sunflower and it contained a small amount of mana within it, it was a common sight among hunters who wanted to use magic, it allowed them to channel their mana through it, allowing them to cast spells faster than usual, it was a very useful piece of equipment, but unfortunately it couldn't be used by someone without enough Mana to begin with
"How much would you pay for this?"
"I'd say it's worth 30 Million won, but considering its rarity, I believe 100 million will be more appropriate"
The man replied, Antares looked surprised at such a high value, however, he knew that the price would drop significantly once he sold it elsewhere, so he agreed with the price.
"Fine, I'll take it"
"Very well, I'll go ahead and get your change ready"
After finishing the transaction, Antares then received the cash for the Exchange it was 100 million won, which was equivalent to 100 thousand dollars, he counted it twice to make sure, the amount was indeed correct, the man gave him two large bags filled with Cash,
Now Let's Find a home,
But before that, there were still those pests.
Antares could feel them—small, insignificant creatures who thought they could approach him without consequences. A fleeting thought crossed his mind, and his lips curled into a smile.
But before we try to do that, let's deal with the pests that keep flocking to me.
Let's kill them,
A voice echoed throughout the world, causing all living beings to fall silent. The moment everyone heard it, they turned around and began running away in fear, not wanting to draw attention to themselves. It didn't seem possible, but it seemed that the voices that came from everywhere could affect the minds of other living organisms. Even insects stopped moving. There were no longer any birds chirping or frogs croaking; even the wind died down. Everything fell into complete silence, save for the sound of Antares' footsteps walking toward the direction of the beasts. They weren't too far away either. As he got closer, he saw them. He raised both hands in front of him, and a flash of light appeared between them.
"Humans... insignificant ones, at that, you will be my new playthings, ah this will be fun"
"kukuhaha Brother did you hear this boy"
The man who looked to be in his 30s said, this man was covered in scars and tattoos, he had long hair tied together behind his head, he wore dark clothes, and carried a sword on his hip.
This man called Kihaku was the leader of the gang known as the ostsuikime, they were an organization consisting solely of men with a thirst for blood, and their specialty lay in killing humans, but recently they've been receiving quite a lot of work from the Black Market, hence why he was currently standing outside of the gold shop named "Pawn"
They're offering 100 million won for this thing!
The man was referring to the Sunflower Pendant that Antares had exchanged for cash earlier, the Ostsuikime usually killed people who trespassed onto the territory of their members, but since there wasn't anyone else around right now, they figured it wouldn't hurt to kill another human instead, after all, it would serve as practice for when they have to fight real monsters later on.
If we can get that money, we might be able to buy ourselves a mansion.
Kihaku nodded, then pulled out his sword and pointed it straight at Antares.
"We're gonna kill this bastard first, so don't move"
Without giving them time Antares struck first targeting the one that was stuck out from the rest of the group to the left no one, else was covering him he was the quickest and easiest prey to feast on,
Bang!!!
He swung his arm forward, aiming for the neck, but just as he expected the man blocked the blow using only his forearm, it felt like he was blocking a knife rather than a fist, it was incredible how fast his reflexes were Kihaku immediately jumped back to avoid taking the full force of the attack, but that was all the man needed, he took advantage of the fact that the man was already off balance to strike again, this time striking the shoulder, making the man stumble backward.
"Don't underestimate us"
"That's what you think?"
There are plenty of guys here who can match your speed and strength
And if you want to survive, you should probably stop fighting while you still can
"You see,"
"We aren't going to give you the chance to run anymore,"
" So, you better surrender, or else, you know, you're dead"
With each word the man spoke, he moved faster and faster, almost like a blur, his movements were so quick that he couldn't tell where he was attacking from, he had to focus all of his concentration on dodging every single attack coming his way, the man's sword flashed through the air as he parried Antaris' strikes, he must have trained very hard to become this good.
"I'll admit, I underestimated you, But it wasn't that I underestimated you but overestimated this body, I usually don't do this for pests but you need to understand where you stand."
The world was then Bathed in Crimson Antares hands enveloped with A crimson glow the ground started to shake as if the world itself was bleeding under his feet, everything was dyed red, the sky turned black, the trees were burning, and the grass was scorching hot, the heat was unbearable, it burned the skin, and made it impossible to breathe, the temperature rose until it was beyond boiling point, and the entire area became a giant inferno.
"that is what was supposed to happen.... so I've been weakened this much....."
The world was then Bathed in Crimson Antares hands were enveloped with A crimson glow the ground started to shake as if the world itself was bleeding under his feet, everything was dyed red, and in this Crimson glow it just stayed red like flames oozed off the crimson glow with Black Lightning Cascading off the glow.
Within a swift movement, Antares attacked Barring his fists, his fists coated with mana struck out hitting the man repeatedly, not once did the man block any of the attacks, it was obvious that he'd never fought someone before, the man was defenseless, even though Antaris could sense that he was trying to dodge, the blows came too fast and hit harder than anything he'd ever experienced, the man's face was completely disfigured by the end of it, and yet he continued to swing his sword without pause.
"This guy..."
"He's strong, stronger than me..."
"Aahaha this is fun... it's been a while since I've fought like this let's see if this body can handle this"
Mana started to ooze off of Antares as it enveloped it the crimson glow returned with Red Crimson flames enveloping Antares Fists, and the man began to flinch away from the sheer amount of damage being dealt to him. The crimson aura spread throughout the whole area, turning everyone into blood-red statues, including the man, the man tried desperately to escape but there was nowhere to go, the crimson light had surrounded him, and he was unable to break free, it looked like he was trapped inside an impregnable cage.
It feels nice having this much power, I haven't used my mana in so long, but now I feel alive again, this is the kind of feeling that makes me happy, this is the reason why I exist.
I'm glad that I finally get to experience it after all these years, I thought it would take another thousand years or something but not, it looks like I was wrong about that.
"I Will not be scrummaged By these mere flames" the man spoke with confidence despite being cornered.
"This isn't over yet, I will fight till the last second, even if I die, at least I won't be defeated by fire, no matter how many times I am engulfed in flames, I'll fight until I win"
The man seemed to have regained some energy, the crimson flames dissipated leaving only a faint red hue behind, and the man took one step forward, and then two steps back, he didn't seem to care whether he died or not, he wanted to continue fighting until the bitter end. And then, the man charged at Antares with such force that it sent him flying backward, Antares landed heavily on his ass, and when he stood up he saw that the man was already standing right next to him.
He raised both arms above his head and unleashed a torrent of lightning toward Antares, Antares quickly dodged to the side, but the man followed, and slammed his fist directly into Antares chest, sending him tumbling backward, Antares rolled several meters across the floor before he stopped, he lay still, his eyes closed as if he were sleeping, and then suddenly opened them wide, staring straight ahead, his expression changed dramatically.
This man felt something within him awaken, it was like he was being filled with energy, it was unlike anything he had ever experienced, it was like he was getting closer to achieving immortality like he was becoming more powerful every single moment, it was exhilarating, it was beautiful, it was life itself. It was the most wonderful thing he had ever encountered, it was the greatest gift imaginable.
"Have humans digressed recently?..... if not I don't understand how you could bring this amount of stupidity to a life-and-death Fight." Antares' voice sounded different, it wasn't the same arrogant tone it usually held, instead, it was soft and gentle, almost motherly, "You are nothing compared to me, your puny strength is laughable, pathetic, you should just give up now, it'll save us both time," the man said, and for the first time, Antares showed signs of hesitation. His eyes widened, and he stared at the man intently,
"This man is a moron isn't he?"
Does he not realize that I intentionally didn't use my flames but used the surrounding moisture in the air from using mana to naturally create Flames that don't carry my energy? I thought this was a common practice amongst humans they used this trick back in my heyday plenty of times,
he's also trying to absorb the pure amount of mana that I naturally possess though it is meager to my heyday and is only 1/100th of the mana I possessed then it was Definity a huge amount, he's overloading the amount of mana his body can even process which is slowly making him enter into Eternal Rest, Humanity's recklessness never ceases to amaze me, this man must be an idiot to think he can beat me with brute force alone, it doesn't matter what tricks he uses, he won't win against me, he knows that too, but he keeps pressing onward anyway, it seems that he thinks he has some sort of trump card, if so, he's mistaken,
Bang!!! Antares struck out once again aiming for the man's face, but this time the man blocked the strike easily, he turned around and faced Antares's head on, he brought both hands together and then shot off a blast of fire, Antares simply ducked under the attack without moving a muscle, and then swung his hand down at the man who was holding his breath, he missed because he couldn't breathe through his nose due to the intense heat, but it was enough to knock the man away from Antares. The man tried to regain balance but fell onto his backside. This is bad, he realized, there was nowhere to run, Antares came charging toward him, and the man looked up at Antares fearfully.
He knew that he had lost, he could feel it, but he continued to stand his ground. He clenched his fists tightly and shouted, „I will not lose!" But he did lose. Antares grabbed him by the neck and lifted him high, his feet barely touching the ground. Then he threw the man into one of the pillars supporting the ceiling. The pillar crumbled, and the man crashed into the rubble below, falling unconscious. Antares dropped him gently to the floor, then returned to its throne. Its breathing slowed slightly and then resumed normal speed. A few minutes passed before it spoke,
‟Boost!!!! Boost!!!! Boost!!!" x3
The Scared Gear The Boosted Gear kept shouting Boost!! Over and over.
The man opened his eyes Realizing what was happening he was still in a fight, one that concerned his life or death, he took a deep breath, and began to chant.
‟I'm going to kill you!!!!"
"This got interesting why is a dragon inside of that gauntlet human.... that's honestly an interesting idea"
Instead of giving Antares more time to attack him, the man started to counter-attack he wanted to put more pressure on Antares than ever before he needed to get close and make sure that the man could no longer move freely, and as long as he remained within the range of Antares he would have to keep chanting.
The man quickly closed the gap between them and unleashed a barrage of punches, each punch being stronger and faster than the last, every single one hit Antares and made contact with something other than its skin,
it was like punching a wall, it didn't hurt Antares at all, but it did cause quite a bit of damage to the man's fist. It seemed that the man had been preparing for this moment, after a while the man stopped attacking, and stood stock-still in front of Antares,
Boost!!!! Boost!!!! Boost!!!! Boost!!!! Boost!!!! x5
5xBoost Enveloped the man increasing his stats by 5x making him stronger faster and even more resilient than before, now it wouldn't take much to finish this off.
‟You're mine!!!"
‟It looks like he's getting serious about this, it makes sense since he wants to live, he'll probably go crazy soon"
‟But how does he plan to beat me? I mean I know it's hard to imagine but..."
"where did the others go i swear there was three other men that were here was there not?...."
"maybe I'm just not remembering it correctly..."
W-what is this, the man couldn't resist asking with the 5x Boost he was starting to see the wall but he got carried away with the indomitable gap between him and Antares it was as if climbing a mountain to think that was the peak, but it wasn't the peak was never-ending, the man thought he saw a light ahead and he followed it, but when he reached it, he found nothing but darkness,
he felt like he had gone mad, but he couldn't stop himself, he climbed higher and higher until finally he broke free from the shackles of reality and entered another world where everything was white and cold, it reminded him of snowfall, he wondered whether this was heaven or hell, and then he heard the voice of a young girl,
"You'll die!"
It was calm but resolute as if it was the truth that he couldn't escape from
The Crimson glow Intensified, even more, Enveloping the entire area they were in this small park was now full of flames not just any flames, these flames carried the power of Destruction, each one eating at the earth causing it to rot with each action the flame took each flickering of its flames cause the ground to rot even further, the ground began to crack open, cracks formed everywhere around the park, the man noticed that Antares' body was beginning to change, firstly the human appearance changed started to be filled with scales, and then its legs transformed into claws, and finally its head became reptilian, and the horns grew out of its forehead.
‟What are you doing?!"
‟Why do humans not understand they Aren't the hunters they are the prey even animals understand this concept!
"This is the natural order of things!!"
"The strong over the weak. If it was always like this, I would relish in that feeling even more"
The flames started to flicker in and out of existence, each word of Antares caused the flames to flicker even more wildly the Flames that were reddish yellow were now turning into a fiery crimson color, the flames were growing larger and larger and their intensity was also increasing the man realized that he should leave while he can because once those flames reach the surface it will burn down the whole Park.
"Swoosh!"
Antares fist struck out trying to attack the man in front of him, Flames cloaked his hand leaving a trail of rot and Firey crimson flames every time Antares moved the earth rotted it decayed the ground turned white, solid white as if marble was carved onto the ground, the man used this opportunity to run away as fast as possible he ran straight towards the exit but as soon as he left the park he collided with an invisible barrier,
a wall of flames blocked his path.
Flames are nothing but the path Humans chose in this world it flickers in and out of existence but it will return to the end lighting up its path to Destruction.
"Bang!!!"
Antares attacked leaving no option for this man.
"Swoosh!!!"
The Fiery Crimson Flames cloaked Antares's Fists, these flames Cloaked his fists as they burned hotter and hotter, enough to cause the white rotted marble floor that Antares made was burn hot and melting. It was creating nothing but flames no matter what it was inside of this park it was Enveloped by these Fiery Crimson flames at this moment Antares Delivered the final blow using all of his might, the man knew it was going to be painful but he still wanted to fight on, so he accepted the pain and endured the agony as Antares swung his fist aiming directly at the man's face. The impact caused the man to lose consciousness immediately, the flames struck on flickering in and out of Existence...
BOOM!!!
this one Attack caused a explosion on a huge Scale smoke was everywhere, with Crimson flames Enveloping everything that existed inside of this park, This park no longer existed existence itself denied the reality of it even existing it was nothing but a craterless place of destruction.
