Chapter 2 - PRELUDE TO DARKNESS PART ONE

In the halls of a grand marble palace adorned with gold sat there in the garden area the princess of a dying tribe praying for the return of her Elven Lord, "The crossroads of destiny way heavy in this day, what will you become. I hope for you to persevere and come to me my elven lord " With her tears gracing the ground where she prayed golden wheat sprung up immediately in that place, "Princess Eleanor, her majesty the queen calls for you." a servant called out to the princess. Eleanor wiped her tears and whispered gently "This time i am not with you but i have sent another on my behalf, I wish you all the best Joseph." She got up from where she kneeled and followed the servant into the magnificent palace. On the other hand, a glimmer of hope like star dust falling from the sky lit up in Joseph as he kneeled in that dark place. A breeze entered that place and the smell of fresh wheat could be smelt there, then in that instant Blue who was tied up in a corner felt a surge of strength unlike anything she had ever possessed. The creature in darkness revealed its long claws then struck down at Joseph at blinding speeds then blood splashed on the floor but he was there unharmed. His heart froze up in the commotion of what was before him.

The creature screeched in terrible anger as it could not deliver a killing blow on the boy but rather another life was given on his behalf, "Your life shall be spared as one has bled on your behalf Elven Lord!" the creature spoke its last words before disappearing into the night, the candles lit up once more illuminating the bleeding life of Blue as she struggled to reach out to the prince. Breaking out of his haze Joseph takes Blue into his arms, "I'm sohhry! Yohhsephhh. Please don't regret anything, youu must perrsevere and keep .....moving forward." and those were her last words as the light left her eyes. A storm was born within the boy, an anger so deep it was not visible to him. A single tear dropped from his left eye and he didn't say a single word as he was unbound from the chains. "On your feet boy!" the king spoke with authority a force bestowed upon kings and queens, a strange force came upon him as he was suddenly forced to stand up on his feet by this force. "Can someone clean up this mess, and make sure there are no lose ends! Marco!" The king proclaimed as he walked out of the dark hall, for the first ever the prince felt true grief. Joseph was now drowning in a pool of endless sorrow and yet the maker of his pain was walking up front within the reach of his wrath. The fear of a power completely unknown to his comprehension held the monster at bay, now his mother's words rang clearly in his ears. This world he was suddenly thrust into was to him like a gift to open, but for now it was a time of mourning.

Earlier that day, the CBD police office was a-buzz with the new case. Attempting the life of a police officer is like jumping into a hornet nest the size of a cave, and yet a random young man with a group of misfits tried this. Detective Kylie walked into the interrogation room, and there in that room was the young man in question. "I'm the only detective available at the moment so tell me kid what is your name?" her calm question surprised all who observed the interrogation. "My name is Bela...Isabella Kylie." with that statement constable Mogomotsi came running restraining Detective Kylie who was on top of the bleeding suspect, beaten within the inch of his life the suspect laughs uncontrollably leaving all who witnessed it startled except for the special constable familiar with Rose's past. "Its not worth it Detective Kylie, why don't you go take a break...or maybe you can go to the hearing at the court of law like you said you would." with his persuasion Rose left the interrogation room. "What on earth was that special constable Mogomotsi, I've never seen her like that?" Sargent Merapelo asked in confusion, and he responded "Well Sargent, the boy named her late daughter as his name. Not many people know about her past which is what I'm curious about." Detective Kylie took a few pills from her purse and passed them down with hot coffee, she grunted in anger while throwing away the polyester cup. Her out burst didn't go unnoticed but everyone at the station understood her anger to a degree. She walks out and crosses the road, the court of law is on the opposite side to the police station.

Crowds of press and civilian protesters were flocked to the great buildings, after all the case is about a notorious minister with many open cases of rape and defilement. Romeo sat in his jeep taking a set of pills, then he drove out of the hotel and straight to the court of law. A welcome of protests and snapping shutters filled his heart with determination to step out of his family's shadow, parking near the main entrance he causes a commotion as press swarm to have their questions answered, "Your honor, this man has escaped the right judgement for years while destroying the lives of innocent girls, is today finally the day justice will rule in this land?" a journalist fished for a response and her rod tinkled with a catch, "Off cause justice will prevail, no one is above the law!" Romeo proclaimed with a loud voice leaving the voices of protests calmed and burning with anticipation. The air grew still as he entered the building, guard's greeted him and the tension on their faces was evidence of a high rank official's presence, "they never act like this when i enter, that old man must be in my office." Opening the doors to his office an old man with a mid range height was standing in his office fiddling with evidence papers, "Good! exclude all this stuff about videos and texts, all you need to do is claim you never received such evidence and that fool Tumelo Segopolo will be free. He is a predator but he is very useful in the plans of his majesty the king, don't try any of your shenanigans today...just do what i told you and we will be dinning with king next Wednesday." The Prime Minister Herold Serame instructed his son as he left the office, Romeo could only stand silent at this command.

The court room was silent with anticipation as the Chief of Justice walked in, "all arise!" the announcement was made. Everyone in the court room marveled at his imposing presence, not that of his family but one built through his reputation. The minister of Tourism Tumelo Segopolo stood there confidently smiling because he has the king's favor but just as he looked up at the judge fear struck like lightning, Romeo looked at him with lifeless eyes, no strand of mercy was visible in the iris tissues of his eyes. His hands began to tremble as he looked at the chief of justice, in that moment the victims lawyer called out to him but his ears wear drowning in the fear of aura emanating from the judges seat. Rose sat there watching the entire scene unfold, a smirk slightly corroded her pale expression. "Mr. Segopolo, do you still claim you had no direct contact with young Miss Legae Thute?" the victims lawyer questioned the minister in the witness box, slipping out of his daze Mr. Segopolo answered "Yess, yes i have never seen this girl and have no contact with her." his panicked answer cut his heart strings as he realized this statement is all they needed to win the case but it all depended on whether the Chief of Justice will betray the king or not, but at this moment Romeo clearly had a different air about him. He had the eyes of a beast who would bite the sky if given the chance, and so he waited. "Your honor we have evidence that clearly shows his claim of no contact is all a lie, we would like to play the video your honor" the victims lawyer Jacob Selalelo looked towards the judge but he saw a very! very conflicted man and immediately understood displaying the evidence would clearly go against the power backing him, if Romeo Serame went against his family he would end up defenseless in a field of wolves and this was his chance to scrap up the win in his long term plan of becoming chief of Justice. The lawyer's grin gave off an earie sight and it did not go unnoticed from the judges seat.
