This book will be paused for a while.
I'm going to write a new Douluo Dalu fanfic with a similar concept but a slightly different plot.
This time, the MC won't be an anti-hero but a proper villain.
I got this inspiration from one of my favorite novels, which states that a true villain must embody all bad habits. He must be hated by the entire world—only then can he truly be called a villain.
Of course, everyone has their own opinions about villains. Some believe that a villain isn't completely bad—that he should have bottom lines, that he shouldn't be cruel to his friends and family...
That's also valid. Those characters are villains too. But in my opinion, they are half-assed villains. (Again, this is just my personal opinion, so don't take it to heart.) If given the chance, these villains have plenty of opportunities to turn to the bright side. They feel regret, they experience kindness...
Anyway, the villain MC I'm going to write will have plenty of bad qualities.
Another Douluo fanfic writer also explored a similar concept—a proper villain. After reading his fanfic, I gained a lot of inspiration. He introduced ideas about the Douluo world that I hadn't considered before, such as the Douluo Plane Spirit, its slumber, and how Tang San's life and original opportunities could be changed or stolen if someone interfered in unexpected ways. After reading it, I found it quite reasonable.
This is also one of the reasons I'm pausing this book. It has too many loopholes that I can't justify. Additionally, I didn't prepare any outline—I just started writing a fanfic because I felt like it, which turned out to be a big mistake.
Another reason is that the MC's personality is inconsistent and fickle. In my opinion, he has no real potential to become a true villain. Only now do I realize that flaw.
These days, I find myself preferring selfish, villainous MCs. I don't know why... After reading many righteous protagonists and then switching to villain MCs, it feels like the so-called righteousness is filled with unlikable qualities, while villains are more compelling.
For my next book, I hope you readers will support me!
