In the deep part of the forest a wooden cabin stood,the rain poured heavily that night as thunder clapped. A little boy sat staring outside from the window,he sighed.
"Mom? Is the rain going to pass?" He asked his mother who was busy preparing food.
The white haired middle aged mother looked in confusion, "rain? Oh? I didn't even realise it was raining, but it'll stop pouring by daybreak" she replies to her son
The boy signed again
"I hope so" the boy added as he sat on another chair
"Why is that?" The mother asked
The boy all cheered up
"Tomorrow,Sahara and I will go playing" the little boy said happily as he danced around the room.
"Sahara?"the mother asked noone "oh!the mayor's daughter, sounds fun"she said and placed the food on the table.
"Yes!" The boy said as he sat to eat
The mother went to the next room and came back with a white box,she placed it on the table.
"Leornars?"she called the boys name
"Yes , mother?" The boy responded in confusion.
"Do you know what day it is??" The mother asked her son
"Uhhmm...it's the third of September,"the boy replied
The mother opened the white box and a blue cake was in it, she stood happily
"Happy birthday, Leornars Servs Avantris,my little boy!!!"she said loudly and grabbed the boy hugging him closely.
"You remembered!!!"Leornars said happily
"What kind of mother forgets her son's birthday, not me no no no"she said jokingly.
The two celebrated the boy's birthday in the small cabin,a few hours later Leornars was tucked in bed..he muttered something then continued sleeping.
The woman smiled and closed the door gently,she walked to the family photo of her and Leornars,touched it and went to clean the dishes ..and began humming.
The next morning the house was in chaos,both were looking under chairs,beds and even cabinets , they hurried up and down.
"Leornars Servs Avantris?! how many times have I told you not to misplace socks now look, you'll be late for classes"she said a bit irritated
"Am sorry mom, I'll make sure not next time"he said in a sorry tone..
The woman sighed and lifted the cushion to see the missing sock."you found it, you actually found it!!!"Leornars said happily taking the sock and wearing it.
They hurried outside and to the porch, on the way both were silent.
"You are now 11 years old, there's something you outta know"she said softly.
"Yes?"
"I , Emalian Surs Avantrian, am not your biological mother, I only took you in after I found you abandoned "she began.
The boy silently listens
"I found you abandoned by people who I'd say were your parents, so I only needed you to know that "she concluded
"Mother, Emalian, I don't know who my parents are but you are , they abandoned me but you took me in,am great full " Leornars said and held her hand
She then stopped midway out the forest,he let go of her hand
"I thought it was obvious, you are Avantrian am Avantris,am not your son but I will be "he said"and my only goal is to make you happy "
"That's a big goal, you do know humans are not trusting or kind to me,I'd say you try looking for another goal " she added.
The little boy smiled"I love a good challenge, I only wish for a world without wars, hate , injustice and pain "he said as he began rushing to school.
"A peaceful world? Kinda reminds me of someone,"she said returning to the cabin.
Then began to chuckle"guess I'm getting senile, but I'd love to see that peaceful world of yours "
Leornars hurriedly walked to school, on the way a baker gave him some bread, he got apples from a vendor .he arrived in school and met his friend Sahara a blonde blue eyed girl.
They greeted each other and began laughing, the classes began and they sat down.
