Chapter 14 - Chapter 14 – The Last Nephilim

The Colossal Duel

The battlefield was in chaos, but for Maingan, the world narrowed to a single point—the last Nephilim.

Towering above him, the giant exuded a presence unlike the others. Its single burning eye focused solely on Maingan, and a slow, wicked grin stretched across its monstrous face. Unlike the mindless beasts before, this one thought, planned.

"Come, little warrior," it rumbled. "Show me your worth."

Maingan didn't hesitate.

He moved—disappearing from sight.

A second later, he reappeared above the giant's head, his sword a blur of silver light. He aimed straight for its skull—

CLANG!

A massive arm shot up, blocking the strike. The impact sent a shockwave through the air, forcing Maingan backward. He flipped mid-air, landing gracefully on the torn earth below.

The Nephilim flexed its thick fingers. "Faster than the others. Stronger. But not enough."

It lunged.

Maingan barely had time to react as a giant fist slammed toward him. He twisted his body, dodging by mere inches as the force shattered the ground behind him. A wall of debris shot up, momentarily clouding his vision.

Then—

The giant's knee came crashing forward.

Maingan threw up his arms in a cross-guard just in time. The impact sent him flying, his feet skidding across the battlefield, carving trenches in the dirt. His arms burned from the force.

Jeruca, still fighting nearby, saw the clash and cursed. "Damn monster's different from the others!"

Maingan didn't need to be told that. He could feel it. The raw, primal power rolling off this Nephilim was beyond what he had encountered before. It wasn't just strong—it was perfectly adapted for war.

And yet, Maingan smirked.

Good.

No more holding back.

Unleashing Power

The Nephilim charged again, raising its fist to strike—

But this time, Maingan didn't dodge.

He raised his hand.

The air around him vibrated as his energy surged. His body pulsed with raw power, his eyes burning with an otherworldly glow. And just as the giant's fist came down—

He caught it.

A deafening shockwave erupted from the impact. Dust and debris flew outward in all directions. The ground beneath Maingan's feet cracked and caved, yet he stood firm.

The giant's eye widened in shock.

"You…" it growled.

Maingan's grip tightened.

Then—he threw the Nephilim.

The massive creature soared through the air, crashing into the ruins behind them with earth-shaking force. Dust and rubble exploded into the sky as the battlefield trembled from the impact.

Jeruca stared. "…What the hell?"

Maingan didn't wait.

He blurred forward, appearing in front of the fallen Nephilim before it could rise. His sword ignited with a blazing energy as he slashed downward, aiming for the giant's heart.

But at the last second, the Nephilim twisted, avoiding the fatal blow. Maingan's blade sliced deep into its shoulder instead, a searing wound opening across its thick hide.

The giant roared in fury, swinging its uninjured arm—

Maingan ducked, barely avoiding the crushing force.

The Nephilim lunged backward, panting. It touched the wound on its chest, staring at the blood on its fingers.

Then, it did something unexpected.

It laughed.

Deep, guttural, amused.

"You truly are different," it rumbled. "I see now… why they fear you."

Maingan frowned, gripping his sword. "Who?"

The Nephilim grinned, baring jagged teeth. "You'll find out—if you live."

Then—its body began to change.

A sickening crack filled the air as its muscles swelled, its already massive form growing even larger. Its lone eye darkened, shifting into a deep crimson. Veins of raw power pulsed beneath its skin.

Jeruca cursed. "Oh, hell no."

Maingan exhaled, tightening his grip on his sword.

Fine.

If the Nephilim wanted a real fight—

He'd give it one.
