"You've been following me…"
Seeing that her eyes were locked in on my location, I slowly walked out from my cover.
I was under no delusions that she didn't know I was there. The charged static around me was clear proof of that.
So Honkai energy could go into elemental type abilities as well? That was good to know.
As I looked at her eyes, I couldn't help but think a few things.
Chief of all was that her eyes were cool af.
Not counting that though, I was concerned about what was going on here. In this situation, I had a bunch of theories on Raiden Mei that I needed to confirm.
A) This was the real her, and the eyes were just a symbolism of her using her powers.
If this was true, then it would make sense that Raiden Mei wasn't showing any signs of being supernatural beforehand. She was just a normal human without the use of Honkai energy.
I was more inclined towards my second idea though.
B) Raiden Mei had a symbiotic relationship with whoever this was.
The person facing me now could be something like a second personality that has access to her true power.
Or… it could be that this was a powerful being sealed in a host type of scenario.
Gosh, I hope that this being I was talking would be more Kurama and less Sukuna…
I really don't want to see Nagazora obliterated…
"Why are you keeping silent?" Raiden Mei's voice held steel in it.
Hearing that, I immediately waved my hand and laughed. "Ah I saw that Raiden-senpai wasn't feeling well so I wanted to help out."
(A/N: Gojo uses honourifics because he's talking to another Japanese right now. He won't speak like that to non-Japanese people, or people that he's close with)
"Oh? How… considerate of you." A small smile appeared on Mei's face.
The lights flickered again in the hallway. However, the static in the air seemed to relax around me.
Raiden Mei began walking towards me with the smile still on her face. "I appreciate the gesture mor- schoolmate."
Hmm? Was she just about to say mortal?
That was… concerning but reconfirms my suspicions once more.
Getting closer and closer to me, I could begin to feel the Honkai energy from her body, even without touching her.
There was quite a bit of it around her, but it wasn't spreading out like crazy. In fact, it was similar to mine which was just surrounding my body.
Good thing too- I wasn't in the mood for High School of the Dead just yet.
Or... ever...
Raiden Mei stopped in front of me. Staring directly into my eyes, she said, "But there's one thing that you could do that I appreciate even more..."
"Yea?"
"You have something I need..."
"Do you need a pen to sign the sick leave form?"
"No... it's something a more special. Something that only you have right now..."
The surrounding instantly felt charged as lightning suddenly crackled on her hand. A rush of force pushed her hand towards my chest in a purple blur.
Just as she about to make contact with skin though, I felt her energy suddenly recoil, as if she was trying to pull back her attack.
Was she just planning on intimidating me?
My question was immediately answered though when I felt ambient Honkai energy around my body start to disappear.
The Honkai energy that belonged to me.
So that's what she was going for.
Just as she was about to reach for more, her fingers froze. And at that, Mei's smile cracked.
A Limitless chasm had opened up between me and her despite the distance that could be seen with the naked eye.
I let out a sigh. "That was quite rude Raiden-senpai. "
"Oh? I asked did I not?"
"I didn't even consent!"
"I don't need your consent. Asking was merely a courtesy."
...
Mei, whoever is using your body right now is setting a very dangerous precedent.
She didn't seem to care about that though as she continued speaking. "I'm surprised. You're a bit more special than the other monkeys I've seen."
"Geto?"
"Who?"
"Oops. Sorry."
"... As I was saying, you are a bit more special. That thing around you, what is it?"
"My anti-lightning technique that I haven't used this since the Heian era."
Though I was clearly bullshitting her, Mei clearly didn't seem angered. In fact, she actually seemed quite amused at my nonsense which was somewhat surprising.
I had thought that given all her "Monkey" and "Mortal" stuff, that she wouldn't have much patience for this.
"Jester, your allotted time has ended. Now let me claim what is mine."
I opened my mouth, wanting to keep arguing, but I stopped. A smirk appeared on my face as I rolled my shoulders back.
"I see. If you want it... you have to take it...
But you already knew that, didn't you?"
At that, the mood immediately shifted.
And then Mei, who was just standing there previously...
She disappeared in a purple flash.
I didn't flinch as a blow slammed right beside my head. It stopped inches before it hit, as Infinity did it's work.
Although I did need to know the threat in order to set it for Infinity, I don't have to actively process the threat. As long as I'm aware that the threat is there, it will always be blacklisted as long as I keep it up.
That was very useful in this scenario.
Mei disappeared and reappeared all around me, leaving purple afterimages in her wake. My eyes could not track the real one as she was clearly moving at the speed of lightning.
There wasn't a point making a move, not yet.
I was waiting...
C'mon wheel... don't keep me waiting...
The sound of thunder roared through the building as a lightning bolt smashed into Infinity. Yet, it still didn't make it through.
Then, Mei stopped.
"Your turtle shell is impressive." The way she said it was casual, but I could hear the slight irritation.
"I know right."
Sorry. I just couldn't help it.
Mei placed a hand on her chin, going into thought. She thought for a second or two before her eyes brightened up once more.
"I see... if I can't hit you, I guess I could just destroy the surroundings. Then, you'll be forced to do something no?"
"Hey... I can still hear you!"
"Yes... that sounds good."
Mei reached into her skirt pocket, and then took out an object.
A coin
That was what I immediately recognised.
Wait...
No way... right?
She wasn't going to do that... was she?
When she got into a posture, I finally came to the conclusion.
This woman is actually going to nuke the entire hallway.
Because her position right now, is like that of our resident Level 5 esper...
And you know what that means?
She was fucking railgunning me.
