Chapter 27 - CH 27

Nicholas smiled and gestured at her, "And this is my wife Perenelle Flamel. Perenelle this is…." Nicholas trailed off as he gestured toward Harry inviting a response.

Harry hesitated for several long moments before deciding that his first name probably couldn't hurt here. "Harry…. It's nice to meet you." Harry add the last bit after several moments, well aware of how awkwardly it came out. He had gotten out of the practice of interacting with people and therefore social niceties didn't come easily to him at the moment.

After another glance around the room, Harry looked back and forth between the two people watching him closely, "How did I get here?"

Nicholas leaned back and chuckled slightly. "We found you and brought you here of course."

Harry narrowed his eyes at that statement, as he concentrated on what had happened. He had been attacked by aurors and he had flamed away. Harry hadn't even had a specific destination in mind when he'd done so. He had been hurting, and knew he was in no condition to continue a fight. It wasn't the first time he'd flamed away from a fight to a random place. Harry was unsure if he'd just been lucky enough that he hadn't had the equivalent of "splinching" happen to him yet, or if he was relatively safe by flaming.

He didn't know any place in this world well enough to know it was safe.

Harry had ended up in a forest surrounded by trees. He wasn't sure where, but he hadn't had time to sit and try and figure out where he was. His leg demanded immediate attention before he bled out from the deep injury. It was a bad sign that he was already woozy from loss of blood so he knew that he'd have very little time.

Harry remembered fumbling awkwardly with one hand trying to pull the robes away from his leg, before he finally gave up and cast a very weak cutting hex at the fabric.

The cutting hex did a good job of slicing the blood soaked fabric. He had been thankful that he had managed to do it without adding to the injury on his leg.

When he pulled the blood soaked pant leg away, Harry was surprised to see how deep and long the slice actually was. He realized he must have taken a powerful piercing hex directly on the leg. Harry was thankful for small favors, either the piercing hex had hit him at an odd angle, or once more his luck had carried him through, and the spell didn't just take his leg off.

Harry remembered his vision beginning to blur and black spots starting to appear as he used his wand to slowly trace his wound with the tip up his leg from ankle to knee and sealing the wound. He had just enough time to think that he should get a blood replenishing potion from his trunk, before the blurriness and dizziness he'd been fighting suddenly caused the lush green ground of the forest to rush up at his face suddenly as he toppled over; losing consciousness before his head hit the ground.

Harry narrowed his eyes, suspicion once more gripping him as he looked back and forth between the two of them, "And you just happened to be wandering in the forest and happened to find me?"

Harry did not miss as Nicholas and Perenelle exchange a glance as if deciding how much or what to tell him.

"Not exactly. I was hoping that you would be willing to share a bit of your story, specifically how you got there, before I share our part of the story." Nicholas replied.

Harry shook his head immediately, volunteering information for someone who seemed not to want to share information was something he had long ago learned to avoid. A product of too many years dealing with Dumbledore. "I was walking through the forest, and tripped and fell on a stick." Harry said in a dry voice.

"A stick." Nicholas intoned in a deadpan voice.

Harry nodded solemnly, "A really sharp stick."

Nicholas sighed in exasperation, "For Merlin's sake. We've sworn an oath not to hurt you. I promise we're just trying to piece the story together."

"You may have. She hasn't." Harry quickly shook his head and pointed at Perenelle. "Nor has anyone else who may be here."

Nicholas sighed and ran a hand over his face, muttering something under his breath, but Perenelle just laughed a little and with a smooth movement pulled a wand off of her hip. "I swear on my life and magic not to hurt Harry or any guest of this house. I swear to the best of my knowledge that there are only three people in this house, and further I swear that I will not reveal nor share anything divulged to me through any means to any persons without express permissions. So mote it be." The white strands came out of her wand and then spread back through her body sealing her oath.

Nicholas turned and looked at her with surprise, at the last part of her oath.

Perenelle just shrugged at him. "I figured it would save an argument later. Our guest seems quite paranoid."

Nicholas turned back to Harry who had been surprised by the oath as well, and before he could say anything, Nicholas had sighed and pulled his wand out to repeat the promise to not reveal any information.

Harry chewed on the inside of his cheek thoughtfully, once again turning over the words of their oath for any way that they might have loops through them. Harry nodded a little bit and spoke slowly, and cautiously. "I'm honestly not even sure where I should begin." He said hesitantly, trying to figure out what and how much of his story he could share without giving the too much.

Nicholas sighed a hint of frustration showing through. "Look boy, would it help if I told you I could tell you four events in your life that I'm absolutely certain you've experienced?"

Harry narrowed his eyes at Nicholas Flamel, "Do not call me that. I'm not a child." a dangerous look crossed his face, enough to cause Nicholas to hitch back slightly in surprise.
