Chapter 10 - The crimson mist.

Fell drew a card shuffle and attacked the slime, with one last final gurgle the crystal slime collapsed and an amethyst orb floated towards Fell and entered her chest. She felt the slime body become a bit harder and durable. Did it evolve?.

The slime egg fell on the ground and cracked and then a card appears in front of fell.

[Card Blueprint: Summon Card: Slime]

[Card Materials:10X slime cores]

Fell blinked, she doesn't think she can get any card Materials since the slime body seems to be absorbing some of the slimes, she would have to deactivate it in order for her to craft and she doesn't really want to do that now.

She summoned her Status card

Above the tower of Plaedes somewhere close to the skies, a Red Mist slowly formed and a small crack formed in the sky, from it a air of red glowing eyes curiously glanced into the midnight blue eyes of the Midnight Demon.

The Midnight hummed as she stared at the pair of curious eyes. "The Red Mist or should I call you the Crimson rust, sister, it seems you haven't broken your seal yet."

The Midnight demon placed a hand on her mouth letting out a soft chuckle, her pigtails was slightly moved by the windy atmosphere.

She may look like Fell but the Midnight demon made her look more charming than her original self

The crimson rust hummed as if happy to see an old face. "Sister, another sister is being born with the help of six of us, let's make sure she is safe.".

The Midnight Demon smiled, her glowing midnight blue eyes narrowing with amusement. "A new sister, you say? My, my... how exciting."

She leaned against the edge of the Plaedes Tower, gazing out at the sky where the crimson crack shimmered ominously.

The Crimson Rust giggled softly, her voice like tinkling bells mixed with the sound of scraping metal. "She is... fragile, but she will grow strong. We must ensure no harm comes to her before she awakens."

Midnight played along with the facade of the crimson rust, she may appear nice but deep inside her true being, there is a reason why she is called the Red Mist and the Crimson Rust, she was the rot that devoured from the inside, the vapour of blood that brings about the rise of famine and she is the Demon of the Black Baccara .

Midnight's smile faded just slightly as she looked at her sister. "You're still as twisted as ever, aren't you?"

The Crimson Rust's eyes gleamed with a dangerous glint, but her expression remained sweet and innocent. "Twisted? I'm just... devoted. We are born to consume and corrupt, sister. It's in our nature. Why fight it?"

Midnight sighed softly. "I'm not fighting it. I'm simply... guiding it. There's no point in destruction without purpose. Fell is still too fragile. If you push her too far, too fast, she'll shatter."

The Crimson Rust leaned forward, her crimson eyes narrowing in delight. "But that's what makes it so much fun! The line between breaking and blossoming is so thin. Besides... our little Vessel is surprisingly resilient. You should have seen how she tore through those slimes. That girl is like a newborn serpent—fragile, but venomous."

Midnight hummed, crossing her arms. "I know. I felt it too. The way she used her abilities without hesitation... and how she adjusted so quickly to absorbing the Crystal Slime. Her instincts are sharpening."

Crimson Rust grinned wider. "See? That's why I want to test her. Make her bleed a little. If she can't handle me, she's not worthy of our power."

Midnight's gaze darkened, and her presence seemed to grow colder. "If you overstep, I will seal you myself, sister."

Crimson Rust giggled, unbothered by the threat. "Oh, you're always so serious. Fine, fine. I won't push her too hard. But don't blame me if she comes crawling to me on her own. Power draws power, and she'll be begging for it before long."

Midnight glanced back at the crack in the sky, noting how it seemed to pulse in time with the faint heartbeat of power within it. "We shall see. Just remember—if you break her, you'll answer to me."

The Crimson Rust's form flickered, her misty presence fading away with one last playful hum. "We'll see, sister... We'll see."

Midnight remained on the tower's edge, her expression thoughtful and serious. The Vessel was progressing, but the others were beginning to stir too soon. Fell wasn't ready to handle them, not yet.

She would have to guide the Vessel carefully—enough to make her stronger without risking a complete takeover. As the night wind brushed through her pigtails, Midnight let out a slow breath.

"It's always the troublesome ones that wake first," she murmured, her gaze returning to the sky.

She then paused for a moment. "Huh, but I am not troublesome, am I?."

A soft laugh escaped Midnight's lips, and she allowed herself a rare moment of self-reflection. "Am I really the troublesome one?" she mused, glancing at her own reflection in a nearby cracked mirror embedded in the stone of the tower. Her midnight blue eyes gleamed with a hint of mischief and melancholy.

Back at the real world, Fell was satisfied with her gains. "I reached level 2 faster than I thought I would but clearly slimes do not provide that much experience to learn from and their attack patterns are limited...if we ignore the variants."

Fell looked at her guild badge and sighed, she wondered how much she can grow stronger and then leave Slick to go explore other places, the dungeon raid she will be apart of may benefit her in some ways.

She placed her dagger back into the bag of holding and walked back towards the town, she was already feeling hungry.

After she returned to the guild Lynn chuckled at her messy hair filler with leaves, Fell blinked, she didn't notice that. "Heheh, you really should take care of yourself Fell, maybe you need that hairstyle treatment, I could tie your hair into a ponytail."

Fell gave Lynn a skeptical look. "A ponytail? I've never really... worn one before."

Lynn grinned and reached for Fell's hair, gently gathering it into her hands. "You'd look cute with one! Plus, it'll keep your hair out of your face when you're fighting."

Fell really wondered what the fox ladies obsession with her hair was all about. "I mean we can do it later, I am going to go get lunch and go for another quest."

Fell handed her guild badge, Lynn chuckled as she retracted her hands from her hair. "Okay, let me register your five merits and give you your twelve silver coins."

Fell accepted the coins, tucking them away in her pouch. "Thanks, Lynn. I'll be back later."

Lynn waved and gave her back her badge and then Fell walked off, her smile warm and encouraging. "Stay safe out there, Fell! Don't push yourself too hard!"

Once outside the guild, Fell glanced around the bustling town square. The faint scent of freshly baked bread caught her attention, and her stomach grumbled in agreement. She headed towards the food stalls, eventually stopping at a small stand run by a cheerful old man.
