Chapter 11 - Chapter 11: First Battle Quest!

Hal had spent almost a week at the hospital and today was the day he was getting discharged.

He looked up from his bed as the door to his room opened and someone came in. It was the nurse who had attended to him ever since he got to the hospital.

She was here to discharge him.

"Ah, I hope you are getting ready to be discharged?" She asked.

"Yes."

Hal noticed she didn't say another word after that and just stared intently at him.

"Umm, excuse me, isn't there something I should do?"

"Oh, sorry. I got carried away." She replied as she slightly bowed her head while blushing.

"Here. If you would just sign this, you can be on your way."

She handed him a few documents and he signed on them.

"Ok, you are free to go." She said with a smile on her face while staring at him.

"Ok?"

"Oh."

She opened the door and hastily left with a flushed cheek.

"That was odd."

Hal thought as she left. He couldn't understand what caused such a reaction from her.

He walked to the mirror, which was positioned in a corner of the room, stood in front of it, and slowly scrutinized himself.

There was nothing special about his looks. He had full red hair and eyeballs which were bright blue, but apart from that, he didn't think there was anything special about him; he was just like every random person.

"Except for my present body shape, I think."

Hal looked at himself in the mirror and could see his body had undergone some changes.

His shoulders had become broader and his muscles more toned. His face had become chiseled and his skin was looking more smooth.

His whole body was in the middle of a transformation.

He had the right amount of muscles in the right place, and his whole frame was looking.....

"What should I call it?"

"Athletic?"

One could say that.

Despite his body frame having gotten bigger, he didn't seem sluggish, so one could say he was 'looking swift and athletic.'

"Hmm, could that be the reason why the nurse blushed earlier."

His body looked like that of an athlete, and most girls tended to fall in love with such people, so he was willing to guess that that was what caused her reaction.

Even he, as a guy, couldn't deny that he felt slightly pleased with what he saw. The chiseled jaw, the toned muscles, and the broad shoulders.

He was nothing like this before. Before, he was lean and had flabby skin with nearly no muscles, but now, the whole story was different, and this was all thanks to the system.

"Talking about the system. I think it's time I make my exit from here, so I could go clear the quest given to me by it."

Hal left the mirror and headed towards the door; as his hand was about to touch the handle of the door, he stopped.

His thoughts quickly ran over all that had happened since he got to the hospital.

He had arrived at the hospital looking frail and weak, probably on death's door, but here he was now, leaving stronger than ever before. And once again, this was all thanks to the system.

Therefore Hal resolved in his heart to make the best of this opportunity given to him by the system and not to waste it.

"And to do so, I must complete all quests generated by the system and continue to level up."

"Now it's time I take my leave."

Hal opened the door and walked out of the hospital, never to visit there again.

*****

"Baauun!!"

The sounds of vehicles passing by could be heard, and a guy in a black hoodie could be seen walking on the street, which led to the Whitley football stadium.

Hal got to the stadium and stood in front of the entrance with his hands in the pocket of the hoodie and his head slightly raised.

There was no match going on and the stadium was empty. He tried walking in through the entrance but was hindered by some invisible force.

"Huh, what was that?"

He tried again, but the same thing happened. He stretched out his hand and could feel an invisible barrier.

"Wow, like some sort of Force field."

Hal could slightly see some ripples coming off the spot where his hand was.

"I guess, I can't go in without the password then."

"Ok, let's do this."

"Oeuvre."

He took a step forward, and this time, he wasn't hindered by anything; he simply walked in like normal.

He took a quick look around him and the only thing in his sight was a vast expanse of trees. There was no sight of where he had come in from.

"Seems like it transferred me to another place entirely."

The system just didn't stop surprising him; everything it did felt predetermined and beyond human scope.

Therefore, Hal couldn't help, but sometimes be astonished by the workings of the system.

Putting that aside, Hal began to think of his current location and what type of monsters he would be facing here.

As soon as Hal thought of this, he heard the familiar tone of the system.

Tti-ring

[You have been transported to an instant dungeon.]

[You are required to clear the dungeon within the Allocated time.]

[Quest time: 24:00:00. Time left: 20:00:00.]

[Please survive.]

"Just what was wrong with this system, for it to be giving me this sort of message."

"It wasn't planning on pitting him against a high-ranking beast now, was it?"

"Ah, that can't be possible. It's a rank D dungeon after all."

Hal looked at the time left and made a quick calculation of how he spent the other four hours. He had spent over three hours at the hospital after the quest was generated and close to 30 min to walk down to the stadium, so he was left with 20 hours to complete the quest.

He walked deep into the forest and, after some minutes, came in contact with his first monster.

"Growl!!"

It was a wolf, and this guy seemed to be lost from its pack.

"Well, this is good, eh?"

Since he wasn't used to killing monsters on his own, Hal felt this would allow him to get an easy first kill and also familiarize himself with the way of singlehandedly fighting monsters.

Hal looked at the monster, as it slowly approached him, like a predator stalking a prey. Like the last monster from the penalty zone, it also had a description in red floating right on top of its head.

"Basic tier Kaisan Wolf."

"It's a basic tier, this shouldn't be too hard."

Hal silently summoned his daggers, Mystic, and held them in reverse grip, as he got into a stance.

"Well I don't mean to boast or anything, but I guess I'll just say it to hype myself for the fight....."

"It's grinding time!"
