Chapter 35 - Chapter 36: Male Protection Bureau, Questioning

"So, was this just a bonus?"

Chu

A kiss landed on me with such natural ease that I didn't even feel surprised anymore.

It was a light peck, just a brief touch, but still stimulating enough.

"I'm looking forward to you courting me, you know?"

The person who said that seemed entirely unbothered by the presence of the Male Protection Bureau staff who had been there the whole time. She was in a great mood.

"Must be nice..."

A voice murmured from the side.

I turned to look and saw one of the staff members gazing at us, their expression a mix of longing and loneliness.

But then, as if shaking off those emotions, they quickly straightened up, putting on a serious face again.

They seemed like someone whose emotions could be easily swayed.

"Allow me to formally introduce myself. I am Kiyora Minazawa, a staff member of the Male Protection Bureau."

She had been the most talkative one so far. She was the shortest of the group, and though her chest was on the flatter side, she was quite beautiful. There was probably a fair amount of demand for someone like her.

"I'm Kotori Akeda, also a staff member."

This one had a more relaxed demeanor. She had a gentle gaze, and her exceptionally large chest stood out. Her waist was quite slim, so she wasn't overweight, just naturally well-proportioned.

"I am Hachikuma Yamano, a male security officer. Pleased to meet you."

She was the only one with a different title. Was she some kind of bodyguard?

Even through her suit, her muscular frame and solid bone structure were evident. She was clearly well-trained.

All three of them were undeniably beautiful in their own unique ways.

As instructed, Yata-chan stepped out of the room, and I readjusted my seat.

The seating arrangement had me sandwiched between Misago and Tsugumi on a three-seater sofa.

Both of them leaned into me as if taking advantage of the situation.

They were soft, smelled nice, and radiated warmth, making it a real struggle to keep my instincts in check.

"Now, I will begin the questioning... but are you sure you're comfortable at that distance?"

Kiyora Minamisawa took the lead in speaking again.

"I don't mind at all."

If anything, this close proximity felt rather pleasant.

"Just so you're aware, this entire conversation is being recorded."

She placed a smartphone on the table, its recording app running. Who knew when it had started?

"First, please state your name."

"As of now, I go by Hisui Umino."

It was a name I had been given on the spot, and I had adopted it rather casually. But it was already starting to feel natural.

"Do you have a real name?"

"My memory is hazy, so I can't recall my original name. Misago named me."

"I see... Now, are you absolutely certain this isn't against your will?"

She asked with a serious expression.

"I'm sure. This isn't forced."

They were quite assertive in their affections, but I still had my own free will.

"Your age?"

"I believe I was 30."

For a moment, they looked startled. People had always reacted that way to my age, so I was used to it.

"Your birthday?"

"I don't remember. Feel free to decide."

"That's not something we can just decide arbitrarily..."

"Then how about the day I woke up here—yesterday?"

I threw out a suggestion.

"Alright, we'll go with that."

I could hear the sound of Kotori Akada typing on a keyboard. It seemed she was in charge of recording information.

"And your relationship with these people?"

"They saved my life, I suppose."

"Could you be more specific?"

"I was found unconscious near Oyakushirazu Beach, and Misago saved me."

"What were you doing there?"

"My memory starts from that moment, so I have no idea."

That part was a genuine mystery.

"Now, since you are classified as an alien, we need to document your birth era and the period you remember before arriving here. Any calendar system is fine."

"I was born in 1990, and the last year I remember before coming here was 2020."

"What was the era name?"

"I used the Western calendar—2020 was the birth year of Isukiri, I think. In the Japanese calendar, it was around the transition from Heisei to Reiwa."

That period had felt unfamiliar, so my memory was fuzzy.

"What were the most significant historical events during that time?"

"The pandemic—a new type of pneumonia—and a neighboring country starting a war to reclaim its former territory."

"What was the name of the country you lived in?"

"Japan."

"What was the gender ratio?"

"Statistically, it was 50-50, but it felt more like 60-40."

"So, men were more common in your world?"

"Yeah, there were more men than women."

"Lucky..."

Someone muttered under their breath. The grass always looks greener on the other side.

Although, considering how women were treated in my world, maybe that perception wasn't entirely wrong.

"Is there any technology that allows people to travel between worlds?"

I asked on impulse.

"If there was, we wouldn't be struggling like this."

She answered with a weary sigh. Fair enough.

"Now, have you engaged in any sexual relations?"

"...Last night, with Misago."

When it came to things like this, it was best to be upfront rather than getting flustered or trying to dodge the question.

Misago turned bright red beside me.

"Just to confirm again—nothing was forced?"

"Nothing at all."

"You signed a marriage certificate. Were you coerced into doing so?"

"Not at all."

"Lucky..."

This time, the murmur sounded even more heartfelt.

Author's note :

Yata-chan, letting a man build up some sexual tension makes them gentler and easier to handle. That's why I've been preparing things carefully.

Besides, I genuinely enjoy being courted. If he ends up marrying a hundred women in this region, our clan will flourish. Either way, I have nothing to lose.

That's why my feelings for him include a bit of calculated reasoning—but they're still real.
