The rain was falling lightly, covering the streets with its silver shimmer, while I sat on my windowsill, staring at the horizon. There was nothing special about my small town—same streets, same people, same boring routine.
But tonight… tonight felt different.
"Iris!" My mom called from downstairs, but I was too distracted to answer.
On the glass in front of me… there was a black butterfly—large, almost unnaturally so, its dark wings fluttering in an eerie way. I had never seen a butterfly this color before. It looked like something out of a fairy tale… or a nightmare.
I reached out toward it, but just before my fingers could touch it… it vanished.
I looked around, my heart pounding. A strange feeling crept over me—as if someone was watching me.
I jumped back, quickly pulling the curtains shut, taking a deep breath.
"Just my imagination… nothing to worry about."
But deep inside, I knew that tonight was going to be different… unlike any other night.
To be continued...
