The air was still, yet the weight of their decision hung heavy.
Kisimoto looked around the small dining table. Their food was nearly finished, but the hunger for answers remained.
Their mother sighed, rubbing her temples. "How do you even plan on doing this?"
Roko leaned forward, resting his elbows on the table. "We start with the lab."
Serena's fingers drummed against the table. "Going back there is suicide."
Kisimoto agreed. But…
"It's the only lead we have."
Their mother shook her head. "No. I lost your father, I won't lose you too."
Silence.
Then, Serena chuckled.
Low. Almost amused.
Kisimoto frowned. "What?"
She glanced at him, then at their mother. "It's funny. You say you lost him, but we don't even know if he was really there."
Her words stung.
But she was right.
Roko stretched. "Okay, what's the plan then?"
Kisimoto thought for a moment. "We don't rush in. We gather information first. See if we can find anyone who knows what happened."
Roko nodded. "And if there's nothing?"
Kisimoto's eyes hardened.
"Then we go back."
TO BE CONTINUED VERY SOON…
