Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: Uninvited

Darion confidently strolled into the mansion. He exuded confidence and power radiated off him in waves. Everyone stood stunned as he stopped in front of them, even his wife, Devra.

What had happened to Darion?

How was he on his feet?

"How are you walking?" Devra whispered with wide eyes. She voiced the question everyone in the room was thinking.

Devra's thoughts were jumbled and she wondered why Darion seemed so different.

Like a whole different man but in the same body.

A body which was now mobile and left no trace of ever being crippled.

"What do you think you are doing here?" Tobias was the first to recover from his shock as his eyes turned to slits as he gazed at Darion.

"Like I said before Devra is not handing over Helio's industry." Darion announced calmly as he shoved his hands into his pocket.

"Who do you think you are to make such commands?" Tobias quirked an unimpressed brow at Darion.

"Her husband." Darion announced with a shrug, like everyone didn't already know just who he was. However, he didn't dare look at Devra, scared to see denial written on her face.

"Husband or not, this is family business and you are not a part of this family so mind your own damn business." Tobias exploded but Darion merely stared at him, unfazed.

"There is an order to things, an order which Devra threatens to disrupt by running that company as a seperate entity from the family business. I cannot allow it." Tobias explained, giving Devra a dark stare before he turned back to Darion.

"Just because you somehow got your feet back doesn't give you the right to saunter in here like you own the damn place." Gary spoke up for the first time since Darion arrived.

Darion ignored Gary's scowl which was directed at him and quirked his lips to the side.

"What is the meaning of this Darion? What do you want?" Lady Orlena asked quietly.

Out of the three she was the only one who seemed to remain cool and collected.

"Where are those incompetent fools meant to protect this mansion?" Tobias' voice boomed loud before Darion had a chance to reply.

As if on cue, heavy footsteps padded in the hallway before the guards burst into the room, looking out of breath as their eyes zeroed in on Darion.

"You will all lose your jobs for this display of incompetence and I will ensure no reputable company or family will ever hire the lot of you." Tobias threatened and the guards trembled before him.

"Sir we were-" The head guard attempted to speak.

"Silence." Tobias cut him off and the man cowered.

"How could you possibly explain allowing a guest entry into my mansion without speaking with me first?" Tobias pinned the men with a glare.

"Gary get in contact with the agency and I firm them we need a new security team... preferably a competent one this time." Tobias called out to Gary.

"You are still standing in our presence?" Gary roared when none of the guards made a move to leave the room.

"I have the favour of the war gods." Darion announced and the room became pin drop silent.

Everyone stared at him, stunned by his admission.

"Darion." Devra called out to him, her face pinched in confusion.

"This is outrageous Darion, even for you." Lady Orlena pinned Darion with a hard glare.

"The man gets his legs back but somehow loses his mind." Tobias commented before he burst into deep laughter.

Tobias' laughter filled the room and a muscle in Darions face ticked but he remained silent.

"It is beneath you to resort to such nonsense Darion. The next time you want to attempt fooling me or my family, I suggest you at least come up with an intelligent plan." Tobias gritted out.

"It's insulting to our intelligence that you would think us so stupid to believe a blatant lie." Tobias continued.

Devra looked from Tobias to Darion at a loss for what to say or do.

Darion's face was blank and she couldn't decipher his thoughts.

What was he thinking?

Could he possibly be serious?

"I don't have the time to play games Tobias. What would I possibly benefit from telling a lie in which I would easily get caught?" Darion asked calmly.

Too calmly that it unnerved Tobias.

"Power. You would gain power if your plan is properly crafted and carried out. Power which you have been sorely lacking for the last three years." Tobias pointed out.

Darion knew Tobias'words were aimed to rile him up but he schooled his features and kept a blank face.

"You are nothing but a fraudster and I will make sure you pay for such ridiculous claims." Tobias promised.

"Laugh and accuse me all you want Tobias but this is your last chance to get on my good side before things begin to change." Darion said with a shrug.

Whatever Tobias chose didn't matter to him, all he really cared about was how the vile man's actions affected his wife.

"I will report you to the family of ancients and then we'll see who'll want to be on who's good side." Tobias replied with a crooked grin.

"Get out before I throw you out." Gary ordered, his eyes squinted as he gazed at Darion.

"Guards!" Tobias called out to the guards who had remained silent and observant throughout the whole interaction.

"Escort this man out of my mansion, he is never to set foot anywhere near my home." Tobias ordered and the men seemed hesitant to grab Darion.

"Incompetent baffons." Gary bellowed, spring them into action.

Just as they were about to grab Darion, Tobias' phone rang piercing through the tense air and all of them stilled.

Darion's lips twitched at the sound and he knew exactly who was calling, why they were calling and that his plan had already been set into motion.

All he had to do now was watch and wait.
