Chapter Seven
Liam's POV
I was busy sorting out a few files on my table when my phone started vibrating; I looked up at Noah, who immediately passed me the phone.
I checked the number and realized instantly that the number belonged to Aurora, the lady I met at the Riverside a few hours ago.
I dismissed Noah so I could have a private talk with her without him interfering.
I picked up the call, but she wasn't saying anything, so I had to recheck if she had ended the call, but the timer was still ticking.
I'm sure my first question threw her off balance and she's smiling because I could sense she was chuckling.
"Liam, Aurora," Aurora's voice came up slowly.
"Who is Aurora?" I asked, pretending not to know who I was talking to.
"The lady you met at the Everest Riverside a few hours ago," Aurora said.
I knew everything she had in mind to say, but I felt happy throwing questions at her and allowing her to answer them by herself.
"Yes, Aurora, how may I help you?" I asked, packing up the files on my table.
"I've agreed to your request, Liam," Aurora said.
"What sort of request is that?" I asked, ready to piss her off.
"Let's get married, Liam," Aurora finally said.
"Are you sure about this, Aurora because the last time I talked to you about this, you thought I was after your money," I said.
"I know you are after my money, that's why you are proposing marriage; what else could be the reason for proposing marriage to me after one night?" Aurora asked which made me smirk for a while before responding to her.
"You need me to protect you from your family's abusive side and I also need you to bore me a son.
Immediately, I get what I want, and you also get what you want; we can just easily divorce, convincing people that we didn't work out," I said.
"Fine, where do we start from?" Aurora asked, slowly.
"Where do you think we can start from?" I threw the question back at Aurora because I wanted her calling the shots, and I wasn't ready to reveal my true self yet.
"Let's meet up tomorrow morning for a date and then we get to know more about each other. From there, I get to decide when we are meeting with my parents," Aurora said.
"That's fine by me, but I don't want us to meet in a public restaurant," I said.
"Why? What if that's where I choose?" Aurora asked as if she was threatening me.
"I don't want to see it in public since I have an image to protect," I said.
I couldn't bring myself to blow out the truth to her just today, I want her to discover my true self on her own accord and at her own convenient time.
"What image do you have to protect? Damn! I've forgotten that a womanizer like you is not supposed to be seen outside before those you've scammed before rush at you.
That's by the way since we are getting married. When are we proceeding with the contract marriage?" Aurora asked.
Even though I wanted to argue with her about what she had just said, I also had to protect myself from any casualties.
"I will prepare the contract papers after we meet with your parents," I said.
"That's fine anyways. I will look up some private places tonight and send you the location tomorrow morning. Don't be late because I don't condone lateness or sluggishness," Aurora said.
"Sure, I won't be late," I said and before I could breathe in, Aurora ended the call.
How I wished she knew whom she was battling words with; if not, she would have jumped upon my request immediately.
Just immediately, I dropped my phone on the desk, and Noah walked into my office.
"Who was that?" He asked, staring at me.
"Someone," I replied, running my eyes through the files placed on my table.
"Who is that someone? Doesn't he or she have a name?" Noah asked.
"Get this file to the secretary and prepare the car for tomorrow morning. I wish to go out alone from today henceforth," I said, giving Noah a signal that I wasn't ready to talk about the person I spoke with on the phone.
Noah is my best friend and he's also someone I share everything with, but this time around, I'm not ready until I get Aurora to sign the contract.
I don't want a situation where my identity will get revealed, and he can get that done in less than two hours if he gets a hint that I was talking to Aurora, the first daughter of the Sinclair family.
"If you don't want to talk about what's going on with you, it's fine. I will wait till you come around," Noah said, picked up the file I placed on my table, and walked out.
I've developed the habit of staying in the office for a few days now, so he wasn't going to ask when I was going home.
I finished up the files I had on my table and walked into my private room to sleep. I gently laid on my bed and memories of Aurora flashed through my mind.
She is cute whenever she smiles and even cuter when she's angry.
The next morning, I woke up from Noah's call. I don't like to be disturbed in the early hours of the morning, but I forgot to switch off my phone last night while staring at Aurora's picture.
"What is it, Noah?" I asked, angrily.
"Good morning to you too, Liam," Noah said.
"Kindly go straight to the point since you know I'm not a morning person," I said, still reluctant to open my eyes.
"One of our clients just made a part payment and he wants to speak with you this morning," Noah said.
"Tell him I'm unavailable for today and that he should send me a message through my email or relay the information to you," I said.
"Are you taking the day off?" Noah asked, sounding surprised.
"Is there a crime in taking the day off?" I asked.
"Not really, but it has never happened before or do you need me to call the doctor to come check up on you?" Noah asked.
"You have overstayed your welcome, Noah. Have a nice day," I said and immediately ended the call not waiting to hear what else he had to say.
I switched off my phone this time around and dropped it beside my bed before dozing off for another two hours when my alarm woke me up.
I took my bath and worked on a few files placed on my table by my secretary overnight since she also has a private house inside the company.
I finished in an hour and realized Aurora still hadn't sent the address, so I just walked back to my room and searched for a suitable hotel in case she forgot about it.
I was halfway down paying for the reservation of my favorite place when I suddenly received a message from Aurora.
I opened the message and realized she had just made a reservation in one of my partner's hotels, and I was avoiding him that day.
I quickly resent a message that I wasn't comfortable with the place and she immediately sent another address.
