"You want to be my bodyguard?" Yan Yuiling asked while her head was still spinning from trying to make sense out of anything.
"I don't know, can't you do something else with your powers?" she continued.
"How would I know? You told me to become a bodyguard, so I did," Li answered.
"Yes, I did, but I also thought that you were just a normal human who liked martial arts. Not that you can fly around the city and make people pass out without moving. I just don't know why I would even be... I don't know, worthy of your protection."
Yan Yuiling, even though Li told her a lot about his life after telling her that his amnesia was fake, still knew close to nothing about Li himself. One thing was clear, though: he was someone who transcended what humans were supposed to be.
Li himself was in thought as well. Yes, why was she worthy of him, someone who ascended to mysterious status, making it so that not even the nine clans around him could ever see his face?
And he himself, as someone who was alone his whole life and had found a lead to finally find the extent of cultivation within this world. Why would he be a bodyguard of someone instead?
There was no real answer; he just felt like it. Maybe with switching worlds, it was time to change his mindset. Maybe it was time to try something else. Maybe it was time to be with someone.
Yan Yuiling was a person who helped him and had a good character. Why shouldn't he learn more about this world from her perspective instead of using his powers to search for the highest power of this world?
At this time he thought that being alone forever might not be the solution, but befriending people he liked would make him happy. At least it was worth a try for now.
"Yes, I want to be your bodyguard. Is that acceptable for you?" he asked once more.
"But you will be searched for and put in prison for knocking out all of these young masters," Yan Yuiling said, somewhat scared for Li.
He was someone in a completely new environment, without anything he cherished in his old world. Yet he didn't cry or show any sign of sadness or regret. He was solid as a rock, even through it all. But even with his physical and mental strength, would it be possible to protect him against bullets or the police in general? She didn't know.
Li, though without answering, simply changed his appearance with a thought. He wasn't on the run from his family for nothing. During the process, he learned several techniques to disguise himself. Later he combined all of them into one, calling it the perfect disguise.
Yan Yuiling, though, instead of freaking out once more, just nodded and accepted what happened. "Li, thank you for everything you did. From now on you will be my bodyguard," she simply said.
This guy had saved her from the worst and told her his biggest secret. There was no reason to not like or trust him. After accepting, she felt completely safe.
"Ok, since you said that people will search for me, from now on instead of Li, you should call me... ähm... I don't know. Yi? Yes, from now on I'm not Li, I'm Yi," he said.
His name, constantly changing and subjective to the people he met along his way. In the end, it was due to his own poor naming skills.
"Ok, then my bodyguard, Yi. I'm happy to be in your protection from now on," she said while smiling.
The weekend passed by quickly, and it was time to return to work for Yan Yuiling, and it was the first time Yi would accompany her there.
During the weekend Yi learned a lot about the world, including how to use a smartphone, and became somewhat close to Yan Yuiling. It was fun to be around her, and she didn't display any of the annoying behaviors Ling Qidong or the young masters at the party demonstrated.
Meanwhile, Yan Yuiling was also pleasantly surprised at how fast Yi was learning and felt very comfortable to be around him. The only negative side during the weekend was that she had to turn off her phone, since she definitely wouldn't answer any calls from Ding Feng or her parents that wanted her to get together with him.
Turning the phone back on, as she needed it for her work, she saw over 100 missed calls from Ding Feng alone.
Rolling her eyes, she looked at Yi, walking at her side, and felt lucky to be protected from now on. Judging by what Ding Feng did before, she didn't want to imagine what he would do next.
Arriving at work while chatting with Yi along the way, she went to her office first. Her sales had been up lately, excluding the big project that was about to be completed.
Her reputation as well as her capabilities were seen as excellent, being as young as she was at 25, while being able to form a company on her own and lead it to be successful without any support.
This was also one of the reasons a lot of suitors came to her door. She was beautiful, yes. But being a beauty and a genius, being able to work through the tough, real business world was something that made her special, attracting even more flies, buzzing around with money.
Her own goals lay within the company, and achieving her goals on her own. Her projection was that, with hard work and good business decisions, her company should grow into one of the largest software companies in the city within the next 20 years.
Managing the process of the project and checking in on every involved party, she was satisfied with the progress and felt happy.
A feeling that wouldn't last long, as Ding Feng suddenly barged into her office.
