Chapter 25 - False Alarm.

A few hours later, Silva texted Thalia and told her about Michael and his threats.

"This creep is back in the country? I thought the Walter family sent him overseas after his father's death?" Thalia responded.

"I don't know, but he's still around," Silva replied.

"Anyway, that's beside the point. I need you to keep an eye on him as best as you can. I'm sure he and June might be up to something. I just know it!"

"Fine, I'll try my best," Thalia responded.

"Once I move into my villa, coming over there will be easier," Silva texted.

"That's fine," Thalia replied, smiling.

"Oh, oh, oh... I almost forgot to tell you! Did you know that Christian's cousin Branden owns that multinational Technology company called Star?"

Silva read the message with a cold expression, unsurprised. After all, the Brando family owned most of the nation's banks, and Christian managed the main financial giant institution passed down from his late father.

"I was shocked he was the owner because I barely know anything about him," Thalia continued.

"Other than what Granny Elaine said about him living overseas."

"I don't care," Silva replied.

"I'm sure he had his reasons for choosing June over me. Thinking about it now, it was probably for the best."

As their conversation ended, Silva sprawled on her bed, the sunlight seeping through the curtains and softly illuminating her room. Though she never dwelled on why Branden chose to marry June instead of her, a tiny pang of wounded pride lingered. Still, she didn't care much—after all, she barely knew Branden.

"Branden Brando, huh?"

She thought nonchalantly, her mind wandering without much focus.

Meanwhile, in his office, Branden smiled as he looked at his loyal servant, Julius.

"Christian is married to a pregnant woman?"

He asked with mild curiosity.

"Yes, sir," Julius replied, observing his master's reaction.

"I see."

Branden responded calmly, his charming and charismatic smile never wavering.

"Never knew he was this desperate to ascend to the title of Brando," Branden thought, amusement flickering in his eyes.

"And apparently, the woman's name is Silva Lucius," Julius continued dutifully.

"She's the one Granny Elaine originally chose for you before you declined and picked her older sister, June Lucius."

"Oh? Her?"

Branden thought coldly, his expression hardening.

"Yes, sir," Julius replied, adjusting his glasses with practiced precision.

"Seems like my dear cousin is far more serious than I thought," Branden murmured as he rose from his seat, his gaze drifting toward the sprawling metropolis outside the window.

"Nevertheless, I'm heading back home to settle down now. Let's see what an outcast child can do against my alliance!"

His smile darkened, satisfaction gleaming in his eyes. All these years overseas had been devoted to building powerful connections, and now it was time to see them bear fruit.

"With my marriage in two weeks, the rest should be easy."

His gaze grew colder, thoughts calculating and precise.

"Now I wonder... what good will a child that doesn't even belong to him do for his ambitions?"

"Perhaps you're trying to create a false alarm to have me on edge?"

He ghostly smirk at his firm conclusion.
