Chapter 143 - Supervisor Luoshu

The events in Las Vegas gave Luoshu an idea.

Since Stubborn Six couldn't be stably contained—transferring away whenever a die in the world met its activation conditions—the Foundation couldn't possibly demand that every person on Earth record how many times each die rolled a six and destroy potential candidates before they triggered the anomaly's relocation.

If they couldn't stop Stubborn Six from leaving, why not make it come back on its own?

After Luoshu's new containment proposal was submitted to the O5 Council by Hammer Down, it was quickly approved.

The Council even assigned him a new role: supervisor, overseeing the construction of Stubborn Six's new containment unit in Area-14.

Luoshu welcomed this assignment—it meant he could re-enter Area-14's containment zones.

More anomalies to document in the Anomalous Item Compendium.

This was precisely why he had actively proposed the new measures.

(Though preventing further casualties from Stubborn Six was also a consideration.)

His new containment method was brilliantly imaginative.

Beside Stubborn Six's unit, he designed a 10,000-square-meter dice-rolling chamber, equipped with 250 automated dice machines, each spaced more than 6.66 meters apart.

While the chamber took up significant space, for Area-14—where containment units were spaced a kilometer apart—it was trivial.

10,000 square meters was just 0.01 square kilometers.

In Site-19, such space would've been harder to manage.

Once all machines were installed, Luoshu activated the master switch.

The 250 machines began rolling dice nonstop.

If a die achieved its 215th six—and fifth consecutive six—the machine would pause, preserving it as a future Stubborn Six candidate.

If it missed the condition, the machine would destroy the die and replace it with a new one.

After several hours, over 10 machines had stopped, producing a batch of potential Stubborn Six vessels.

Estimating that all 250 machines would complete their tasks within a week, Luoshu leaned back, satisfied.

"Luoshu, you're a genius!" Peter exclaimed, having finally grasped the plan's elegance after much contemplation.

(Someone like Jack the Bearded would've never figured it out.)

Here's how it worked:

When Stubborn Six breached containment and transferred away, surveillance in its unit would detect the now-normal die and trigger the retrieval protocol.

The idle dice machines would then activate one by one.

Statistically, one in six rolls would produce a six. Given enough attempts, one would inevitably hit the 216th six (and sixth consecutive six), meeting Stubborn Six's transfer condition.

Accounting for bad luck and machine errors, Luoshu had the Foundation install 250 machines—ensuring near-certain success.

Once a die met the condition, Stubborn Six would instantly return to Area-14, where staff could simply move it back into containment.

From breach to re-containment: under a minute.

No need to track where Stubborn Six had gone.

Only someone with Luoshu's 140 IQ could devise such a method.

While waiting for all 250 machines to enter standby mode—and for Stubborn Six to breach again—Luoshu was assigned to permanently oversee the project in Area-14's containment sector.

Officially, he remained under Peter's command at Hammer Down's barracks.

But since he had to inspect Stubborn Six daily, Peter requisitioned an electric cart for him.

Otherwise, the 10-kilometer commute would've wasted hours each day.

With his new wheels, Luoshu grew restless.

It was time for a midnight excursion.

Previously, the main obstacle to nighttime exploration in Area-14 was travel time—SCP-055's antimemetic effect couldn't last long enough for round trips to distant units.

Now, the cart solved that.

With a top speed of 60 km/h, it cut travel time to minutes.

The moment he got the cart, Luoshu immediately activated it as SCP-100-X, gaining a loyal ally.

Through his tactical terminal, he learned the cart wasn't meant for personal use:

GPS-tracked—Area-14 could monitor its location in real time.

Remotely locked—Security could disable it outside work hours.

But as an SCP-100-X entity, the cart could now:

Disable GPS.

Ignite and drive autonomously.

Bypass security controls.

Still, Luoshu didn't act rashly.

Over the next few days, he infiltrated the surveillance systems along the containment zone's main routes, turning cameras into his eyes.

He had to eliminate all risks.

While Luoshu could enter an antimemetic state, the cart couldn't.

Without precautions, security would see a ghost cart driving itself at night.

After a week of preparation, every camera between Hammer Down's barracks and Stubborn Six's unit was under his control.

Tonight, the exploration would begin.

His target?

Stubborn Six's neighbor.
