Chapter 154 - The Boy Who Cried Wolf

With his plan set, Luoshu sprang into action that very night.

First, he used his time wisely—infiltrating the side corridor leading to SCP-058 (Dark Heart)'s containment unit, deploying surveillance drones to prepare for future operations.

On his way back, he detoured to SCP-939's unit, initiating his "Boy Who Cried Wolf" strategy against Omega-12.

To avoid further complications with the vocal mimics, he steered clear of the observation window, instead activating the Energy Hourglass's Evolution Distortion right at the negative-pressure chamber's door.

The moment he felt reality warp around him—just a few seconds in—he deactivated the ability and retreated.

Now, it was time to sit back and watch the show.

Close Call

As Luoshu's electric cart merged onto the main road, two Humvees roared toward him, carrying Barbie and her Omega-12 squad.

They're fast.

Clearly, they'd been waiting for this.

Barbie's gaze swept over the cart—but her eyes glazed past Luoshu as if he weren't there.

One operative held a Kant Counter, sweeping it like radar.

When the cart passed the Humvees, the device's reading spiked to 300—Luoshu's lingering Hume level.

Yet the operative didn't react.

Thanks to SCP-055's Unobservability, Omega-12 couldn't perceive him—or the anomaly their device detected.

Luoshu exhaled. So far, so good.

Omega-12's Frustration

Back in his quarters, Luoshu monitored SCP-939's unit via his Personal Tactical Terminal.

Barbie's team tore the place apart, finding nothing.

"Hume levels are below 50 here—so where's the bender?" one operative muttered.

Barbie (a blurred figure on camera) snapped: "Pull the surveillance footage!"

An Omega-12 tech pried open a light panel, extracting a hidden data cable linked to a covert camera.

(Luoshu's drones hadn't even spotted it.)

But the footage revealed no intruder.

"How? No one came through here!"

Barbie's team was experts against reality benders—but powerless against antimemetics.

After hours of fruitless searching, they gave up.

By then, Luoshu was asleep.

Barbie's Last Check

Returning to their barracks, Barbie ordered a review of Hammer Down's dorm feeds.

But Luoshu's drone had already doctored the recordings, looping old footage of him "sleeping."

Frustrated, Barbie clenched her fists.

"Why does this bender keep targeting SCP-939? If they wanted a breach, why not release the creatures?"

She glared at the screen. "Dare to try again. I'll be ready."

The Trap

The next night, Luoshu repeated his routine:

Prepped SCP-058's area.

Returned to SCP-939 to "cry wolf" again.

But as he activated Evolution Distortion, an alarm blared inside the containment chamber.

"Beep! Beep! Beep!"

Luoshu froze. A Kant Counter?

He whirled—and locked eyes with an Omega-12 operative lurking in the corner, device in hand.

How?!

The man had slipped inside undetected.

And now, his Kant Counter was screaming at Luoshu's presence.
