Chapter 240 - The Bizarre Entrance

At exactly 11 PM, Luoshu arrived at the entrance of Shichangpu Hospital.

Tonight's mission: scouting the path.

This privately operated tertiary hospital, established in 2002, specialized in infectious diseases and had played a crucial role in the sudden disappearance of the SARS outbreak decades ago. Unlike the "Nobleman's Estate Resort" facade of Site-CN-02, this place actually functioned as a real hospital, employing many non-Foundation staff.

Thus, its underground entrance had to be far more concealed to avoid accidental discovery.

Luoshu combed through the hospital from top to bottom, inside and out, but found no trace of an entrance to the subterranean facility.

Even with the Anomaly Detection Milestone's sensory ability, he came up empty. No matter where he went, he sensed zero anomalous activity—as if this were just an ordinary hospital.

But this was Site-CN-06.

His memories might be unreliable, but "Bamboo Slips", Site-CN-02's supercomputer, couldn't be wrong.

The two sites, separated by only a few hundred kilometers, had close collaborations, even jointly managing certain anomalies.

For example:

SCP-CN-825 (Gormanni), a bioweapon, was split between the two sites.

SCP-CN-825-3 (Skeletal Structure) and SCP-CN-825-5 (Bamboo Slips) were stored at Site-CN-02.

SCP-CN-825-2 (Biochemical Secretion Organ) had a research sample at Site-CN-06.

SCP-CN-1451-1 (Victims of the Game Activation Stone) were also treated here.

If Luoshu had followed MTF Jiu Yang Zhuo Bie's shark-men ashore normally, he'd have been sent here.

"Bamboo Slips" confirmed this was Site-CN-06—so it had to be.

Unfortunately, the supercomputer didn't store Site-CN-06's layout or entry details.

This was standard Foundation protocol.

Only Site-01 (Oversight Headquarters) held complete global records. Other sites managed their own data.

And Site-01, aside from housing the Foundation's central server and the O5 Council, contained no anomalies.

(If only Luoshu knew where Site-01 was—he'd hack their mainframe in a heartbeat!)

With no other options, Luoshu had to search manually.

There was one shortcut: call Waiter.

The Chaos Insurgency definitely knew the entrance.

But Luoshu refused to reveal his plans.

The Insurgency might have Foundation moles—tipping them off was as good as warning the Foundation.

(Let's be real: if the Insurgency could infiltrate Foundation sites, the Foundation could play the same game.

Hence why the Insurgency's bases got wiped out recently, forcing their Alpha leaders into hiding.)

After an hour of scouring every building—outpatient wards, ICU, isolation units—Luoshu found nothing.

He even barged into an ongoing surgery. No luck.

No TV portals, no magic mirrors, no hidden spaces.

Just as frustration set in, Luoshu wandered into the darkest corner of the hospital's basement.

A dimly lit corridor loomed ahead, its entrance marked by a chilling sign:

"MORGUE."

Luoshu's eyes lit up.

This had to be it!

Given Chinese cultural taboos around death and ghosts, nobody would willingly come here—perfect for a secret entrance.

The clincher? A guard desk blocked the corridor, manned by a burly, alert security officer with a stun baton and walkie-talkie.

Hah!

The front gate had a dozing old man as security.

But the morgue got a muscle-bound guard?

What, are they afraid someone's gonna steal corpses?

Classic case of "protesting too much."

Luoshu strode past the guard and into the morgue.

The air was colder, the walls lined with large stainless-steel drawers—each holding a corpse.

He pulled one open.

Inside lay a rotting, pustule-covered body, likely a victim of some infectious disease.

Ugh.

He slammed it shut.

Now came the problem.

His Anomaly Detection Milestone still sensed nothing anomalous here.

Meaning, if the entrance was here, it was mechanically or electronically controlled—not an anomalous portal like Site-19 or Site-CN-02's.

Luoshu considered using Mechanical Animation to recruit a temporary "underling," but with dozens of drawers, where to start?

After some thought, he decided to "ask for directions."

He walked back out and activated Persuasion on the guard.

"Hey buddy, mind opening the door? I need to go downstairs."

The guard, dazed, stood up and marched into the morgue.

He turned off the lights, then shone an eerie green flashlight onto the steel drawers.

The scene looked straight out of a horror movie.

Under the glow, fluorescent markings appeared on each drawer—letters and numbers.

Luoshu's jaw dropped.

Four rows of nine drawers each—forming a giant 36-key input panel!

The guard then tapped specific drawers in a precise sequence.

With a soft hiss, the entire wall slid apart, revealing a descending staircase.

What kind of batshit crazy entrance is this?!

Without an insider's help, nobody would EVER figure this out!
