Baron kept electrocuting the cannibal, refusing to give him a chance to fight back.
But this one… he couldn't be underestimated.
No matter how many times he was shocked, the cannibal kept getting back up.
Kai felt something was off.
"Baron! Finish him! NOW!"
Hearing that, Baron brought his hands close together, letting electricity arc between them. Then, he slammed both hands onto the ground. The earth beneath the cannibal exploded, sending electric sparks everywhere.
But then, something unexpected happened.
The cannibal bit into the electricity—and swallowed it whole.
"!?"
Then, he bit into a rock and hurled it at Baron.
Baron didn't see it coming and took the full hit.
The cannibal then grabbed a smaller rock and spat it at a streetlight.
Crash!
Darkness swallowed the alley. The entire place was pitch black.
"Great, this fucker has a brain," I sneered, rushing toward Baron.
Since I could barely see anything, I just shouted, "BARON! GENERATE ELECTRICITY AND USE IT AS LIGHT! WE NEED TO GET OUT OF THIS ALLEY NOW!"
Baron was still a bit dazed from the hit, making it hard to concentrate, but he managed to summon some electricity for light.
Kai suddenly felt something behind him and immediately rolled to the ground.
A sharp snap echoed in the alley—he had dodged just in time.
"This thing's probably blind. He must be using his ears or nose to track us," Kai muttered.
That would explain why he hunted in alleys—the more confined the space, the easier the hunt.
"Kai! Where are you?!"
"Right here!"
Kai approached Baron and saw him clutching his waist.
That rock throw from earlier must've broken a few ribs.
Despite the pain, they both ran, with Kai making as much noise as possible to confuse the cannibal.
"You can still fight, right?" I asked.
"Yeah, but if I use much more, I'll run out of mana. That explosion attack already drained me."
"Then save it. Use it only when he gets close."
Right as I finished speaking, rapid footsteps echoed behind them.
Both of them turned back.
In the dim light from Baron's electricity, the sight was terrifying.
Then, his face became visible.
"Motherf—! We were just talking, and he's already here?!"
Baron snapped his fingers, sending a surge of electricity through the ground toward the cannibal.
The bastard bit into it again and kept chasing them.
"Fuck! He can eat electricity?!"
"I'm guessing he can eat anything, though I don't get why human flesh is his main course."
"Doesn't matter. Staying alive comes first!"
They ran as fast as they could, but Kai was slowing down.
'Shit… I'm exhausted!'
Physical stats were seriously important…
The cannibal was catching up.
Baron grabbed a rock and infused it with electricity.
He was about to dump half of his remaining mana into this shot!
"COVER YOUR EARS, KAI!!"
Hearing that, I slapped my hands over my ears.
Baron launched the rock faster than the speed of sound, the recoil pushing him backward.
Just as the cannibal was about to bite, the rock pierced straight through his gut, leaving a massive hole.
Kai seized the opportunity and landed a punch to his face, knocking him back.
"Nice work, Baron!" Kai called as he caught up.
But Baron didn't respond.
"Baron?"
Kai looked closer.
Blood was dripping from Baron's ears.
'His eardrums… are ruptured?!'
Baron was deaf now.
Then, they saw it—the light at the end of the alley.
"The exit!"
Both of them dashed out, collapsing onto the ground, gasping for breath.
"Holy shit… We survived, but I'm not sure if we actually killed that bastard."
They had to report this to the police or something. Risking their lives like this wasn't an option anymore.
Kai forced himself up and looked at Baron and Alice.
Rocker… He was probably dead.
Whatever happened back there… Rest in peace.
"Now then... Let's call the police and an ambulance," Kai muttered, trying to stand up despite his exhaustion.
BANG!!
Startled, Kai spun around, his eyes widening.
"Are you kidding me? He took that hit and he's still alive...?"
The cannibal had crashed into another building, causing it to collapse.
Slowly, he emerged from the rubble, his arms—previously restrained in a straitjacket—finally free.
The gaping hole in his waist from Baron's attack was still bleeding, intestines and organs grotesquely spilling out.
Then, he ripped off his own arm and devoured it.
His body regenerated at an insane speed, completely restoring his arm and even the torn section of his waist.
"..."
Holy fuck, author, did you create this shit just to make us suffer?
Baron looked terrified. He was completely out of mana, meaning he was probably even weaker than Kai right now.
That left only Kai. Even with his injured arm, he was still the only one who could fight.
So yeah... this was all on him.
"I kinda wanna cry."
The cannibal let out an ear-splitting roar and charged at Kai at full speed.
Panicked, Kai dodged to the side.
The monster crashed into the house behind him, and Kai didn't hesitate—he ran.
"I need to do something!! Should I just scream for help or what?!"
The cannibal quickly recovered, crawling out of the wreckage and locking onto Kai's direction.
Then, he lunged!
"WHAT THE FUCK, I THOUGHT YOU WERE BLIND—"
The cannibal rammed his head straight into Kai's stomach, sending both of them crashing into some kind of storefront.
"Ugh..."
Kai clutched his stomach, gasping for air, then looked at the cannibal.
'This is bad!!'
Frantically, he scanned his surroundings—then realized something.
This is a weapon shop!
And this is where I was planning to buy that cool-looking purple sword!!
"What the—?! Who the hell are you people?!" A deep voice boomed.
The shop owner stood there, staring in shock at his now-destroyed front entrance.
"Uh—hey! Let me borrow a weapon!" Kai shouted.
"Like hell I will! No one takes my weapons without paying!"
"Oh yeah? You want me to pay while this thing is in here?!" Kai pointed at the cannibal.
The shopkeeper followed his gaze.
Blood-covered body. Razor-sharp teeth. Truly indeed a monster.
"...Okay, fine. Just don't break everything in here."
"Nice!"
Kai immediately grabbed two swords from a nearby rack and got into position.
The cannibal lunged again.
Kai dodged to the side, slashing both swords at its back.
Two deep cuts appeared—but they barely did any damage.
The cannibal opened its massive jaws, ready to bite Kai's head off.
Kai raised both swords in defense.
CRACK!
The sound of shattering metal rang through the air.
Kai broke into a cold sweat.
Both swords... had been completely devoured.
"NOOO!! THOSE WERE THE BEST DUAL BLADES IN THIS SHOP!! THEY COST OVER 5 GOLD!!!" the shopkeeper screamed in despair.
"Fantastic..."
Someone, PLEASE help me!! This thing is way too strong!!!
