Chapter 8 - The Last Smile

Inside the carriage, Elena looked past the almost barren scenery.

Except the local village which they left some miles behind, there were hardly any birds or other wild animals on the way.

"No wonder that no one wants to come and live in the countryside. But still don't the people in the capital always say that borders are very volatile?"

While looking out of the carriage window, Elena whispered slowly.

"The area here is very sparsely populated, plus it doesn't have any natural resources like mineral ores or other precious metals. This gives very little reason to the neighbouring countries to invade from here."

Amar spoke nonchalantly.

"Moreover, even if they invade…..don't we have your husband in charge here?"

Amar winked at her.

"Hmmmm! Narcissist idiot!"

Elena snorted, then looked away.

"You should be worried about our bet instead, you are definitely going to lose."

She spoke, her face still looking through the window, refusing to make further contact.

"Confidence is something that I have never been short of, my dear wife!"

Amar chuckled lightly.

After not seeing much response, he didn't bother to communicate further.

Time will tell everything anyways, all he has to do was just wait!

'According to the original plot of the game, at this time, Sameera should be with that old maid exploring the hidden cave.'

'That cave which was accidentally discovered has nothing particularly important.'

'The biggest point is that while exploring, some stones will fall. At the last second, Sameera will pull that old royal maid to save her from danger.'

'That old maid is like 50 years old, due to sudden inertia, Sameera will fall on that maid. The scene when looked from an outsider's perspective will be very ambiguous.'

'And the worst part is they will both stare at each other for like 10 minutes straight, just looking fascinatingly at each other before breaking eye-contact.'

Just imagine a young maiden lying over an old hag for some minutes, what a disgusting picture it will arouse in one's mind.

'Then Sameera will think this old lady seems very pleasing to eyes and add her to her harem. Eventually with her help, Sameera will soon enter the inner palace and meet the princess, then one more damn-yuri plot will begin.'

Amar sighed recalling how the things would have developed had he not interfered.

After riding the carriage for an hour, they were at their location.

Getting out of the carriage door, Elena was the first to exclaim, "Is my dear Sameera in this cave in front of us?"

She asked warily.

"Yes!"

Amar nodded.

"Then let's go, I can't wait to reunite with her!"

The smile on Elena's face was unhindered.

Like an enchanting waterfall that can leave you speechless, the smile on her flawless face left Amar mesmerised for a second.

But still before she could run inside, Amar forcefully held her soft hand.

"What's the hurry?… First, wait 5 minutes."

Elena had question marks all over her face.

"Why?"

"See…. it was correct to bring you here."

"That smile on your lips is so exquisite. It would look better if you could smile like that more often."

This time perhaps she was too excited to reunite with her lover, Elena didn't mind Amar's teasing words.

"Yes, this is the smile one makes when she is about to meet the one closest to her heart?"

"A serene smile made exclusively for your lover!"

"Look at it clearly…. for you will never see this smile again when I am with you!"

Elena spoke haughtily.

Her words were like showing off her deep relationship with her lover.

Her intention was clear!

She wanted Amar to see such a bright face of hers and feel jealous.

Feel jealous that such a smile will never be made for him.

Feel jealous that he can only secretly admire and become envious of it from a distance.

Although she was legally his wife, her best will belong to someone else rather than her so-called husband.

But how could Amar be fazed by such a childish display of protest?

Just wait a few minutes and you will see who has the last laugh.

There was a notion in Amar's mind.

'Haha, it is said the more confident one is, the more he or she tends to fly high. But he or she forgets the higher you fly the higher is the impact when you fall.'

His lips arched up.

Amar checked the timing, it was perfect.

Exactly 20-25 minutes before the sunset, when the Sameera's event should happen inside the cave.

"Okay, let's go inside."

Like that, both of them went inside.

The inside of the cave was quite spacious. The twilight entering inside was enough to illuminate everything roughly.

The pair only went a little further and saw the scene Amar had guessed from the beginning.

Elena's eyes widened in disbelief.

In shock, her fingers subconsciously covered her widely opened mouth.

Her excited expression went into complete frenzy.

Looking at the ambiguous scene in front of her, her mind repeatedly screamed, 'How is this possible?'

'Sameera?…What the heck!'
