Chapter 10 - Take Me There, Now!

Moon's Pov.

I drew my melancholic gaze away from the statue, my attention drawn to my phone when it rang.

Unknown caller displayed over the screen and I couldn't help but frown.

From my previous life, I hadn't seen anything as beautiful as this. A handset, the maid called it.

After I came back from the auction ball, a maid knocked, wondering why I hadn't been using my phone before handing it to me.

I instantly knew it belonged to that Moon. So I accepted it without showing a hint of surprise.

I didn't want to give the maid the impression that I knew nothing about gadgets.

For hours after keeping away the statue and bracelet secured in a safe, I had lost sleep, trying to figure out how to use this phone, and now here I am, with the knowledge of most features in it.

I picked up the phone, gliding my thumb finger across the green icon and a voice immediately came up.

"Hello."

I raised a surprise eyebrow when the sound of a man graced my ears. Hello only means the beginning of a conversation right?

"Yeah, hello. How may I be of help?" I replied softly, and waited for this person to say something.

But seconds passed and nothing was heard, only a shuffle, making my face to morph into a slight frown.

Moments later, the man cleared his throat, like what he was about to say was so difficult.

I nodded. "Is that so?"

"Y-yes ma'am. He expects you to sign the contract."

I frowned at the words. William didn't make any mention of signing a contract, and moreover, haven't I agreed to pay him back?

Did he think I was going to change my mind?

It's better, afterall, I didn't want anything to do with him. My frown gently returns back, my soft gestures taking over.

"Hello, are you there?" The man asked again when I didn't speak. Maybe he thought like William that I wouldn't agree.

"Where is he?"

"At his office ma'am."

"Alright, I'll be there in, uh…" I paused, not knowing how many minutes it'll take to get to his office.

I haven't been there, and worse is, I don't even recognize this man on the phone. What a mess!

But from his words, I can deduce he is William's assistant.

"I'll be there." I finally say, before ending the call.

I bit my lower lips, my head turning into a mess. I'm now caught in a delima about how I was going get to his office.

But that was until a light bulb exploded in my head! "Yes! The house driver! Andrew!

I quickly freshened up and walked down the stairs, purse clutched under my elbow, and a hand on the stair's rail.

"Adam," I called out.

Adam, the house butler swiftly hurried over. "You called for me, ma'am?"

"Yes, fetch me Andrew immediately!" I let my voice sound a little hard, but not harsh.

I stood on the third step of the staircase, making me appear a little taller than the butler, which in turn, made the former to look up to me and I, to look down at him.

"Yes, ma'am." With a bow, he left, returning back moments later with Andrew.

"Madame," Andrew greeted, bowing slightly. "You sent for me."

"Yes, I did. Take me to your young Master's office, immediately!" I ordered, already walking forward.

Andrew ran ahead of me, driving out a Porsche from the garage and stepping out to open the car door.

I slide inside and the door was softly shut close. The engine roared to life and in a short minutes of 10, we finally arrived.

Andrew opened the door and massive building welcomed our arrival.

The building stood tall and imposing, it's glass facade reflecting the golden hue of the setting sun.

Sleek lines and towering columns gave it a modern yet formidable presence, exuding an air of power and prestige.

The entrance, framed by hard, polished steel, led into a grand lobby with a high ceiling adorned with a massive chandelier that shimmered like a constellation of stars.

Beneath the opulent glow, the employees moved with purpose, their hushed voices blending into the soft him of productivity.

At the very top of the building, the bold inscription W&A dominated the skyline, a silent yet resounding authority to other companies out there.

As I stepped through the ground entrance of W&A, the weight of countless eyes pressed against me.

The lobby was an uproar of silent whispers, one that grew louder, feeding off one another, and rippling through the open space like a quiet storm.

My fingers clenched slightly at my sides, nails digging into my palm. I kept my head high, expression unreadable. I wouldn't allow their stares or whispers to deter me.

If they had something to say, they should say it to my face and not being a coward behind desks! Anything said behind my back was nothing but a hear-say.

"Miss Moon." I heard a voice. It was smooth, professional, yet distant voice. "This way."

I knew this was William's personal assistant and the man I've spoken to earlier on the phone, judging from the way he spoke to me.

Without waiting for another response, he turned on his heel, and I followed suit.

Anderson led me to an elevator that automatically parted open, and we stepped in.

It closed, and Anderson pressed a button before it started its ascent.

Inside the elevator, silence stretched between us. The moment the doors slid open, Anderson led me down a clean, sweet hallway, stopping at an office with double doors that screamed power.

He opened one door and gestured for me to enter. "Please, have a seat. Mr William will be with you shortly."

I stepped inside and the first thing I did was take in the massive space.

Floor to ceiling windows framed the city skyline, the mid-afternoon sun casting a warm glow over the dark, wide furniture.

The air smelt with a mixture of his expensive cologne and leather. At the center of it all stood a large desk, papers stacked neatly, not a thing out of place.

My lips lifted slightly. As expected of an Alexander. Always pristine and meticulous.

My view was interrupted when Anderson handed me a folder. "The agreement document. You may review it while you wait."

I gave a nod, taking it and settling back into the chair. And then, I flipped it open, scanning the crisp black and cursive handwriting.

I wondered why he had to write it by himself and not use typed words.

I exhaled softly, checking taping my phone screen and watching as the seconds hand out of boredom.

Minutes bled into hours. The clock ticked on, slow and torturous. The ache in my back from sitting too long settled in, but I don't move.

But my patience thinned with every passing second.

Finally, my patience wore thin. Closing the folder with a soft thud, I looked up.

Anderson was still there, but since upon my arrival, he hadn't once said a word to me, I noticed.

He was just going through his tablet as if it was just another ordinary day.

'Was that Moon treated this way? Like she was some unseen pest?' I thought.

And why would William ask me to come over, only to keep me here, stressing and waiting?

"Where is he?" I asked, my voice came out stronger than intended. There was a hint of vexation in my tone.

At my voice, Anderson glanced up, slightly taken aback. "Uh, one of his entertainment arcs. There is an audition happening today, and he decided to visit."

I inhaled deeply, pressing down the irritation bubbling to the surface. I wasn't going to sit here and wait like some afterthought!

"Take me there. Now!"
