Chapter 7 - The Golden City

The airport was insanely busy. Taylor was holding onto Jill's hand like he was afraid of losing her in the crowd.

She was just thinking that her hand was hurting when she saw him. It was something about the way he approached them that told her something was not right. Her body tensed and Taylor looked back at her with a frown.

He followed her line of sight but he was a moment too late. The person went for their laptop bag and Taylor was cursing inside.

Suddenly a leg flew up and the man's hands were kicked up into the air. He spun back and took a fighting stance but he was just a bit too slow. The sole of a foot plunged into his abdomen and then the toes came upward into his chin sending him flying back. He flew back into a wall and slid down on his butt.

Jill stepped back to Taylor who was smiling broadly.

"Very good Mrs. Bridges. Beautiful and a bodyguard. How did I get so lucky? " he kissed her forehead and she smiled and kissed him softly on the lips.

"I was just asking myself how I got so lucky and then that idiot came charging out of nowhere."

Taylor laughed raucously, making her smile broadly.

They sat in an empty room. It had white walls, a table, and four rather uncomfortable chairs. Jill squirmed, both uncomfortably and out of annoyance.

She stood and walked to the door. Taylor smirked as if he understood that the people holding them were in trouble. His eyes widened as she pounded on the door with hands he deemed delicate and made far too much noise.

"I want my lawyer NOW!!! If I am not allowed access to my lawyer I will be contacting my embassy as soon as I am released. Also I have friends in news and different media outlets. Your country will be on a ban list for centuries!"

Taylor stifled a laugh but he was nor surprised when the lock clicked and the door opened.

"Mrs. Bridges please calm yourself. You will hurt your throat." The officer handed her a glass of water. She looked at it dubiously and placed it on the table even as she rubbed her neck.

"We were just trying to gain an understanding of the situation. Of course you are free to go. We will have to confiscate some of your belongings for further inspection."

Her eyes narrowed. "Which belongings are those?"

"Both of your laptops and several flash drives."

Taylor did not show any reaction but Jill became hauntingly calm. Taylor smirked as he watched the officer swallow hard and take an involuntary step back.

"That will be fine. Our other belongings? "

"Y.. y.. You are free to take them now."

"And we are free to leave?"

"Y.. Y.. umm yes of course."

She turned from her. "Darling they said we can leave now."

Taylor stood with a wide smile for her. "And what of out laptops?"

"Do not worry. Edgar is an excellent international lawyer and I am sure if there even seems like the slightest breach the entire police system will likely become privatized and under our control."

She kissed him, took his hand, and walked out of the room without looking at the officer. She made several phone calls before they finally went to board their private plane.

"You are truly playing the heiress well now."

"To be honest it has become quite enjoyable. I never knew being a brat was so fun.

When we land we need to buy two more laptops."

Taylor nodded. "I still have three jamming devices that I keep on my person. I will need to get a few for you to keep as well.

"Yes. It seemed that the laptops were the target. Whoever they are they understood that it was our laptops blocking them."

"I wanted them to think that was our only means. I am still not clear on why they are observing us. I know Darren hasn't let anything slip so it is something else."

Jill's body went cold thinking about her brother being tortured.

"Can we find out if mother and grandmother are being followed as well? Maybe we can narrow things down a bit."

Taylor nodded. "Very good idea. I will look into it when we get to India."

"I will look for a good place to buy new laptops." She looked up. "Or do you already have a source for that?"

He merely smiled, took her hand, kissed it and took into his lap, and looked out the jet window. She simply smiled and began talking into her phone instead of typing, and enjoying the sensation of his touch.

Their first city in India was a beautiful desert city and they both decided to enjoy the city to the fullest.

They once again rented a beautiful house. This one was actually on water and the water surrounded by a sea of desert was beautiful and surreal. Taylor cam over to Jill to see why she was furiously work on her laptop.

She had ordered them both new laptops while they were on the plane.

"What are you searching for?"

"I am interested in seeing how they actually practice Ayurveda here."

"And how will you do that?"

She shrugged. "Google." He rolled his eyes.

"I am hungry."

"Let's order something and stay in tonight."

"Okay. Should I order it or can you?"

She paused what she was doing and looked up at him. She rolled her eyes.

"Okay. I will order us some food."

The amount of food she ordered made his head swim. She shrugged when she saw the look on his face. "I thought you said you were hungry."

She smiled and he pulled her to him and down to the table filled with food.

"Well you are helping me eat."

"While sitting in your lap?"

"sounds perfect to me."

He kissed her neck and began heaping food on to a plate for them to share.

Later that night they fell asleep together on the master bedroom balcony admiring the view of the city below.
