Chapter 15 - Why?

When she wouldn't stop gazing at him in that way, he slowly began his descent down the stairs towards his bride. She still looked awfully paranoid at him when he swore he hasn't yet done anything to her or around her to induce this much fear.

He stepped close and felt her entire body crumble beneath his faint touch on her left cheek. In her big, brown eyes, you could tell she wants answers. Answers to a lot of questions that might have resonated in her.

''Wish,'' he called in that perfect voice. She never thought it was possible for her name to sound this good in anyone's lips until she met him. ''You must have questions?''

He drew closer and the hold on her breathing grew tight. Somehow, she managed to maintain eye contact with this entity that has been made evident of not belonging here.

''I would like to be the one to answer them for you.''

Wish looked anywhere else apart from his face. Stopping her imagination from degrading further or being worse. There was something about him that called for sin, pleasure or any other thing she couldn't put her hand on. She was scared of making a huge mistake if she stayed anywhere longer with him.

I should leave now.

''Where is my work ID? How did you know about it? And why did you take it?''

King Malachi was a bit disappointed in her questions. He expected questions concerning what he told her weeks ago in the hospital. He was curious to know why she wasn't interested in the concept of being the bride of the vampire king. Or maybe she thought she was just another psycho spitting rubbish to her face. The muffled sound of thunder and the heavy pattering of rain outside couldn't distract him from the rhythmic allure of her beating chest. It called to him. The blood rolling down her veins…the remembrance of the brief, sweet taste when he partially marked her as his…the sin of it almost drove him insane and the sweet, innocent look on her face was something he wished to stare at for the rest of his eternity.

''Aren't you curious, my love, to know how you got that bite mark on your neck? Or were you that convinced you might be reacting to something?'' He flashed her a subtle and wicked smirk when she gingerly reached to touch his mark on her neck puzzled. ''You might be turning into a vampire just like me and would you still think you are being allergic to something?''

Wish lips parted in heavy disbelief. Her eyes widening like a fish being hooked and drawn out of water.

What did he mean by turning into a vampire? Is that even real…

''You…bit me?''

Malachi tilted his head a bit in amusement, slowly revealing his pair of sharp fangs that had the pleasure of sinking teeth deep into her soft skin. The taste of her blood lingering and his taste senses begging for more.

''Not really. The correct term for that should be— I marked you. You have been fated to be my companion for the rest of all eternity. If you take a moment to gaze at that pretty mark on your skin you can confirm it came from me. No one or animal in your world could give you such a mark. No one's teeth is as sharp and dangerous as mine and or soft and tender on yours.''

Wish overwhelmed with fear the longer she stared at the sharp, ivory tips of the teeth this monster before her bared. She tried not to imagine the scene of him sinking that in her neck without her being aware of and the worst of it all could be her waking up one day to not be human anymore but a fucking freaking vampire!

Wish took a dramatic turn and began to walk as fast as she could to get out from this place before he did more harm to her and it might be too late to save herself. Her heart was racing wildly in her chest with each step she took towards the exit of this abaddon. Her mind kept screaming at her to pick up a quicker pace but she was even too paranoid to do such. Tears streamed down her face as she tried to pull it together. But the pieces of her mind were already so far apart to be brought back together.

What sort of cruel joke was this?

It's like the gods in the sky weren't satisfied in making her life standstill for years due to the sin she didn't intentionally want to commit against someone. They brought along a possible Vampire, who drank her blood while she was unconscious and she might be on a fast road of being turned into a monster like him and then— it would all be over! The final axe to the wood that represented her life.

She moved down the partly lit hallways that resembled a sinister path to Hell, frantically looking for a way out of here. She paused in confusion as every turn she took appeared similar to that particular hallway she remembered being dragged to that might lead to the main door.

Could this day get any worse apart from losing your work ID and being trapped in a forbidden mansion with an alleged Vampire? It took a while before it sank in that she must have just been moving around in circles. Her mind felt foggy and the desperation to get out of this place was tempting her to her limits. When the hallway she was currently wandering in landed her in an empty room that had three large, black windows with no opening to the outside world. The outside world could be seen through the windows but the heavy rain outside made it all blurry or hazy. She stepped back to see if she could see anything she could use to break down the windows and fly out of them.

A cold chill traveled down her back when there was nothing. She stepped out of the room and moved through scarier hallways that had demonic paintings of monsters and people being consumed by hell's fire. It felt like eternity had passed while in these walls and she felt her sanity slipping away from her.

A scene confirmed whatever thoughts she was having of this entity not being human and she was in way in more trouble than not being able to survive on her own.

The world felt like it was in total peace. She stood breathing heavily at the threshold of a room spoiled with red. He stood out in the shadows of the room. The white streaks of hair on his head shining like silver in the dark as his left, gloved hand moved, bending, twisting and manipulating what appeared to be hallways of this house away from the main entrance at his will.
