When Tsunade heard that Menma agreed without hesitation, she was a little surprised. She thought it would take some effort!
"By the way, the Chunin Exam will start in a few months, and this time it'll be held in Konoha Village." Tsunade paused, then looked directly at Menma, speaking bluntly.
Menma: "." Guess I'm stuck doing grunt work again—but hey, at least I've got something to do. This year's Chunin Exam won't be ordinary... a prey is delivering itself to my doorstep. Menma licked his lips unconsciously, his eyes gleaming with anticipation.
"Alright, I'll participate. Do you need me to kill people from other villages?" Menma asked.
"No, just win first place with overwhelming strength," Tsunade replied. If Menma makes a move, the other villages can only sit back and take the hit. Tsunade couldn't help but observe a brief moment of silence for the unfortunate shinobi from other villages.
Menma nodded.
"Report to the Anbu tomorrow. That's all—you're dismissed," Tsunade waved him off.
Menma: "..." Heh, woman! So you're just letting me go now? Don't want to keep me around? Guess I'll go keep myself company.
He waved at Shizune and left with his usual swagger.
After Menma left, Tsunade turned to Shizune and asked, "Shizune, do you think Menma still hates the villagers of Konoha?"
Shizune thought for a moment and replied, "Lady Tsunade, I don't think Menma hates or dislikes the villagers. What's most important is how much he loves his younger brother, Naruto. And now Naruto has made many friends here in Konoha." She couldn't help smiling as she spoke, Naruto's sunny grin flashing in her mind.
"Lady Tsunade, if I were Menma, and I had a younger brother like Naruto, I might've killed everyone here to avenge him," Shizune added.
Tsunade: "..." I was just asking your opinion, not asking you to take his place!
Still, Shizune had a point. Even if Menma didn't like the village, he wouldn't destroy it—because of his love for Naruto.
For six years, Tsunade and Jiraiya had tried to make Menma fall in love with Konoha, but... it just wasn't working. Sigh~ ╮(╯▽╰)╭
Suddenly, an idea popped into Tsunade's head. She lit up and said excitedly to Shizune, "Shizune, go compile a list of all girls in Konoha between 12 and 15 years old."
Shizune blinked, confused. "Lady Tsunade, what's that for?"
"I want to help Menma find a wife."
As soon as Tsunade finished speaking, Shizune's legs nearly gave out. Find Menma a wife?!
"Lady Tsunade, don't act rashly. You know Menma's personality—he won't do anything he doesn't want to." Over the past six years, Shizune had often accompanied Tsunade to meals at Menma's home. They knew him well.
Of course, Shizune understood Menma's temperament.
"Shizune, are you rebelling now?" Tsunade narrowed her eyes at her.
Shizune quickly responded, "I wouldn't dare."
"Then go already." Tsunade waved her off. Shizune dashed out immediately.
Watching Shizune's retreating figure, Tsunade shook her head. She's really getting more and more "disobedient." Then Tsunade sat down to handle official paperwork—only to see the mess on her desk!
When Menma returned home and noticed Naruto wasn't back yet, he started cooking. Naturally, he made the food himself.
"Shadow Clone Technique."
Three clones appeared instantly.
"I'm hungry, make extra." With that, the original sat on the sofa, crossed his legs, picked up a book from the coffee table, and began to read.
Clone: Seriously...?
Grumbling inwardly, they still obediently went to cook.
But just as they stepped into the kitchen, the original called out again, "Bring me a glass of water. Thanks." Can't read without drinking something!
Clone: (へ╬)
Moments later, a glass of water was handed to Menma.
"Thanks." Without lifting his eyes, Menma reached out with his left hand, took the glass, and casually sipped from it—like a master being served. Only problem was, the "maid" was just more of himself.
"Oh right, I forgot I owe Kurama a new novel chapter," Menma suddenly remembered.
Nine red tails popped out from his body, and Kurama jumped onto his shoulder.
"You just remembered? Hurry up and write. And this time, make sure it's another harem story—with lots of female leads."
Menma: "."
Ever since one of his clones had written an urban novel with multiple heroines, Kurama had become obsessed with those types of stories.
"Wouldn't a single heroine be better?" Menma muttered.
"Nope," Kurama replied bluntly, then dove back into reading, occasionally laughing in a rather... suspicious manner.
Sigh~ This goofy Nine Tails… He's starting to act like Jiraiya! ╮(╯▽╰)╭
"Brother! Brother!" Just then, the door burst open—Naruto was home!
Even before stepping inside, he was already calling out to Menma.
"I'm here. Go wash your hands, dinner's almost ready," Menma said.
"Okay, brother!" Naruto dashed off to wash up, then came back and sat next to Menma, chattering away about what he'd done that day.
Listening to him, Menma's lips curled into a faint smile. Just like in the original.
"Brother, I want to eat more tonight. Tomorrow, Kakashi-sensei is doing the survival training. He told us not to eat breakfast or we'll puke," Naruto explained seriously.
"Oh?"
Menma smiled. "Naruto, you'll still have breakfast tomorrow."
"Huh? But Kakashi-sensei said not to..." Naruto replied, confused.
"Well, do you listen to me, or Kakashi?"
"Of course, I listen to you!" Kakashi-sensei could take a hike.
"Then that's settled."
A moment later, the clones brought out all the dishes—seven in total. It looked like a feast.
Nice. The cooking time is getting faster.
"Brother, I'm starting now."
Just as Naruto said that, the front door slammed open again, and Tsunade strode in. Without a word, she plopped down and grabbed Naruto's bowl and chopsticks!
"Where's my bowl? My chopsticks?"
Menma glared at Tsunade. "Tsunade, are you serious right now?" Not only did she crash his dinner, but she snatched Naruto's stuff too!
Menma gave Naruto his own utensils and asked a clone to get another set for himself.
Tsunade ignored Menma completely—she was busy enjoying the food.
Menma: "."
Forget it. I'm eating out next time.
The next day, Menma had his clones prepare breakfast at 4 a.m. sharp, and woke Naruto in time. After a hearty breakfast, Naruto left home and arrived early at the survival training site.
Sasuke and Sakura were already there. Sakura looked sleepy but forced herself to stay awake to maintain her image in front of Sasuke.
"Sasuke, did you eat breakfast?" Naruto asked.
"No. Didn't Kakashi-sensei say not to?" Sasuke replied coolly. He was just waiting to spring the question back. "Naruto, did you eat?"
Naruto's pupils shrank. How does he know?! Does he have a dog's nose?!
"Haha! Naruto, I'm going to report you!"
Naruto: "..."
