Chapter 16 - Chapter 16: Idiotic Questions

"Here, I will teach you how to survive in an environment with nothing at all. To stay alive," Tob said indifferently. "Today is your first day here. I'm being particularly lenient and giving you three chances to win rewards. As long as you answer my questions correctly, you can get the rewards."

All the children's eyes lit up when they heard this.

"The first question," Tob said coldly. "How can you stay alive?"

All the children were taken aback.

How to stay alive?

They had never thought about this question before. They had been sheltered by their parents since childhood, chosen the academy they liked when they reached the school age, and then joined the workforce after graduating smoothly. This was a life path that had been determined without much thought.

"Make money!" A girl immediately raised her hand and answered.

When the other children heard this, they immediately slapped their foreheads in 懊恼 (frustration) and sighed. Yes, to stay alive, of course, one had to learn to make money. Such a simple answer had been taken by someone else first!

However, Tob's expression remained indifferent, and he spit out two words: "Wrong!"

All the children were stunned. It was actually not right?

"Work?" Another boy said tentatively.

Tob glanced at him and said indifferently, "Wrong! By the way, each person has only one chance to answer."

All the children looked at each other.

It's neither making money nor working?

"Teacher, in what situation do you mean by staying alive?" A little girl with fair skin frowned and thought.

Tob looked at her and said indifferently, "There's no specific situation. It's just about staying alive!"

Hearing this, all the children were stunned again.

Dudian also frowned slightly, and his mind raced. From his observation, this Tob didn't seem to be deliberately being mysterious. And the previous answers were undoubtedly correct. If they had to be defined as wrong, then there was only one answer left.

"Eat!" He raised his hand and said.

As soon as he finished speaking, the children around him looked over, all stunned. Then some children couldn't help but laugh out loud.

Eat?

Could you give a more idiotic answer?

"Correct!" Tob said indifferently.

All the children: "..."

Looking at the stunned expressions of all the children, Tob sneered coldly. "Such a simple answer, yet only one person got it right. I almost couldn't give away the free reward. Is there anything in your heads except water and feces?"

All the children looked embarrassed but were a bit unconvinced. However, having witnessed Tob's previous violent behavior, no one dared to voice their doubts.

Dudian heaved a sigh of relief. Originally, his thoughts were the same as those of the other children. He also thought that it couldn't be such a simple and almost idiotic answer. Unexpectedly, he had gambled and won.

"The second question," Tob said indifferently. "How can you get food to eat?"

All the children were taken aback. What kind of strange question was this?

"Make money!" A voice said quickly. It was the little girl who had answered before. This time she still chose the same answer.

The other children wanted to stamp their feet in frustration. Damn it, they had missed the chance before, and now this answer had been taken again.

"Wrong!" Tob still said coldly.

The little girl was stunned and couldn't believe her ears. She was wrong again?

The other children were also a bit surprised, but they quickly realized that they still had a chance and raised their hands to answer eagerly.

"I, I, I know. It's work!"

"Ask mom for it!"

"Chew with your upper and lower teeth!"

The last boy thought of Dudian's previous reverse-thinking and simple answer and immediately said tentatively.

Tob couldn't help but look at him and showed a trace of mockery on his face. "What, can you chew vegetable rolls with your buttocks?"

The boy's face immediately turned red.

"All wrong. A bunch of useless people!" Tob said coldly.

Dudian didn't expect that the answers he also wanted to say were all wrong. He couldn't help but fall into deep thought, recalling his previous way of thinking. The first step to staying alive was to eat, so the first step to eating...

"Find food!" Dudian raised his hand again and said.

Tob glanced at him indifferently and said, "Correct!"

All the children were stunned again.

Was it really that simple?

Was it really that simple??!

"The last question," Tob said indifferently. "How do you find food?"

All the children couldn't help but look at Dudian.

Dudian saw the strange looks of these children and felt a bit helpless. This time he really didn't know the answer.

Seeing that Dudian didn't seem to want to answer, the other children each lowered their heads and thought. After a while, some children raised their hands to answer one after another. The answers were more or less the same as before. Especially the little girl who said "make money", her third answer was still "make money". It seemed that she was determined to stick to this answer. But in the end, the answer was still wrong.

Soon, after going around once, almost no child got the answer right.

Tob looked around and said, "What, no one knows?"

Several children standing near Dudian couldn't help but look at him, knowing that he hadn't answered yet.

Dudian felt their gazes and even felt that Tob had glanced at him, as if waiting for him to answer. But this time he really didn't know. All the answers he could think of had been given by others.

"It seems there's no one," Tob said. Seeing that Dudian didn't seem to want to answer, he didn't wait any longer and said flatly, "The first step to finding food is to learn to identify food. The first class today is to teach you about food."

Hearing this, Dudian finally understood the purpose of his three questions. Through the conversation with Mekin yesterday, he had confirmed his guess. The other children here didn't know that they weren't undergoing guard training but "Scavenger" training. And Dudian knew from Fino that Scavengers were those who searched for resources in the wilderness outside the Great Wall. Since that was the case, the resources they carried with them surely wouldn't be much. So, they had to learn how to survive in the wilderness outside the Great Wall.

Learning about food was their first class!

"Teacher, what's my reward?" Dudian saw that Tob hadn't announced it for a long time and couldn't help but raise his hand and ask.

Tob looked at him and said, "Each correct answer rewards you with a meal of breakfast. Congratulations, you've won the reward of two meals of breakfast. However, today's breakfast time has already passed, so you can only use it tomorrow."

Just a meal of breakfast?

Dudian was a bit surprised. He didn't know that in the short half-month special training later, he would deeply realize how precious these two meals of breakfast were!

When the other children heard that the reward was just breakfast, they immediately felt a bit more balanced.

"Now, the break is over. Run ten laps around the drill ground!" Tob suddenly shouted in a low voice.

All the children were stunned. They had just finished running, and now they had to run again?

"The time limit is half an hour. For every five minutes you exceed, add one more lap!" Tob announced the rule indifferently.

"Teacher, no..."

"Running again? I'm about to vomit..."

Some children couldn't help but wail. But soon, at the thought of the image of the leading example being kicked flying, they started running at full speed.

The corners of Dudian's mouth twitched slightly. This rule was simply merciless to him. However, he vaguely guessed that Tob was training their endurance. After all, according to Tob's statement, since they were learning how to stay alive, what was being trained was definitely not strength and combat skills, but speed and endurance!
