Chapter 111 - Chapter 111: Black Weaver's Eggs

Soon, Glary packed all the parts of the Black Weaver into a large, foldable storage bag from her backpack and carried it on her back. It looked even bulkier than her slender body.

Seeing that everyone was preparing to leave, Dudian hesitated for a moment and then said, "There seems to be something there." As he spoke, he pointed to the ground that was emitting the scent. Although he had a guess in his heart, considering his own abilities, he decided to bring it up.

"Oh?" Glary looked over in surprise and said, "There's a scent?"

"It's in the soil." Dudian said.

After his accurate tracking earlier, everyone had already fully trusted Dudian's sense of smell. Upon hearing this, they exchanged a glance, held their weapons, and approached cautiously. Glary gave the young knight a look. The latter understood and stepped forward with his spear, carefully lifting the soil in the area Dudian had pointed to bit by bit.

When a pit about thirty centimeters deep was dug, everyone immediately saw an oval, snow-white object emerging from the sand. Glary and the others' eyes lit up, and they exclaimed in delight, "Black Weaver's eggs!"

The few of them quickly stepped forward and dug away the sand. They found that the number of Black Weaver's eggs buried inside was as many as eight!

Dudian was both happy and regretful to see that his guess was correct. It was a pity that he was too weak. Otherwise, after separating from everyone, he would have been able to sneak back and take them. However, Area 1 was too dangerous. Even intermediate Hunters didn't dare to walk alone. Although he had a super sense of smell that could sense monsters in advance, there were some lurking monster hunters who knew how to hide their scents and often approached their prey silently. And such monsters were not rare in Area 1!

As the saying goes, people will risk their lives for wealth just as birds will for food. After much consideration, he still didn't want to take this risk. After all, luck wouldn't always be on his side.

Looking at the eight Black Weaver's eggs in her hand, Glary said in delight, "Getting so many at once, there might be a chance for one of them to survive. Then, if I absorb the Marks of the Demon of the Black Weaver again, my ability will increase even more significantly!"

The young knight and the others immediately congratulated her and were quite happy.

However, Dudian suddenly noticed that although the young Hunter beside him was also smiling and saying words of congratulations, his expression was a bit stiff. And due to the difference in their heights, it was easy for Dudian to see the other's palm. He saw that the young Hunter's palm was clenched tightly, and his thumb was rubbing slightly, as if he was trying hard to hold back something. This made Dudian stunned. The next moment, he suddenly realized what was going on and couldn't help but smile bitterly in his heart.

"Before, the Black Weaver was crouching on the ground. I thought it was just stalling for time with us, but I didn't expect it was secretly hiding its eggs." Glary also recalled the previous battle at this moment and felt a bit emotional. She had gained more experience again. Thinking of something, she turned her head to Dudian and said, "Fortunately, you observed carefully. Otherwise, we really would have missed these eight eggs."

Dudian smiled and didn't say anything. He was just a bit helpless in his heart. Although it was unintentional, it seemed that he had already offended the young Hunter beside him. The latter's ultrasonic hearing ability should have also allowed him to hear the sound of the Black Weaver burying its eggs. Moreover, his proposal to go hunting in Area 6 was obviously an excuse. He clearly wanted to come back secretly to take the eggs after everyone left.

However, his plan had been unintentionally disrupted by Dudian, and his little scheme had also been exposed in front of Glary, the young knight, and the others. After all, everyone wasn't stupid, they just didn't show it at the moment.

"He probably hates me to death..." Dudian looked up at the young Hunter a couple of times. He saw that the young Hunter had a smile on his face and seemed not to notice him. If it were an ordinary person, they would probably think that Dudian was overthinking it. But Dudian still believed that one should always be on guard against others. He secretly remembered the young Hunter's appearance. If he met him outside the Wall in the future, it would be better to stay away as much as possible. Otherwise, once he was secretly retaliated against, he would be in an extremely perilous situation.

"Finding these eight eggs unexpectedly is entirely Dudian's credit." Glary looked at Dudian, tilted her head, and thought for a moment. Then she said, "According to the price paid to the consortium, the eggs of such rare named monsters are worth 1,000 gold coins each, and the eggs of ordinary named monsters are worth 500 gold coins each. As for the young of mammalian beasts, it's a different matter. Their survival rate is higher, and their value is completely different."

"I'll distribute them according to the price set by the consortium. Considering that it's Dudian's credit, four of the eight eggs will go to Dudian, which is 4,000 gold coins. The rest of you will each get 1,000 gold coins as compensation. As for these eggs, I'll hand them over to the consortium to cultivate for me."

Upon hearing Glary's distribution plan, the young knight and the others had no objections and smiled.

Dudian was pleasantly surprised to see that he had been given such a large share by Glary. He had originally thought that he would be lucky to get a small portion, but he didn't expect to get half of it. His favorability towards her immediately increased a lot.

"We really have to thank Dudian's nose this time." The young knight smiled.

Gatt also smiled and patted Dudian on the shoulder, saying, "Well done."

Dudian smiled and exchanged a few polite words with the others.

After Glary put away the eight eggs, everyone retreated along the original path.

Along the way, with Dudian's sense of smell and the young Hunter's hearing, they still encountered several monsters lying in wait not far from the path they were taking. The monsters suddenly jumped out and launched attacks, almost causing casualties. Fortunately, Glary reacted quickly and took the initiative to resist.

Through the battles along the way, Dudian gradually got to know Glary's strength. She could basically deal with monsters with a hunting level within twenty easily. For monsters with a hunting level above twenty, it would be much more difficult, and the higher the level, the more difficult it would be. For a monster like the Black Weaver with a hunting level of twenty-six, if she encountered it alone, she might even be in danger of losing her life!

After all, if it weren't for Dudian's help in sensing the Black Weaver's stealthy approach in advance, Glary might not have been able to detect it in time.

Under Glary's protection, everyone gradually withdrew from Area 1 and came to the giant forest beside the abandoned and incomplete highway. Glary asked the young knight, Gatt, and the others to go back first, while she continued to escort Dudian to the cleared area, which was Area 7.

When Dudian went scavenging last time, Area 7 was in the process of being cleared. Now it was almost at the end of the clearance. Even if there were occasionally some monsters left behind, with the strength of a junior Hunter, one could be confident of escaping, unless one was extremely unlucky and encountered the few strongest monsters in Area 7.

After escorting Dudian to Area 7, Glary gave a few instructions and then turned around and left.

Dudian had asked her about the routes of each area along the way. Coupled with the fact that he still had some impression of Scott's map from before, he knew that Area 7 wasn't far from Area 9. Moreover, he was fully armed and could hunt in Area 7.

After entering the streets of Area 7, Dudian saw many zombies swaying on the road. He had heard from Glary and the others that these undead zombies were basically the last monsters to be cleared. Unless they happened to encounter them, they wouldn't actively seek them out.

When an area was cleared for the first time, the named monsters inside were usually hunted first. These were the most terrifying monsters in that area.

Monsters that could reach the level of being named were much stronger than ordinary monsters.

If they were to hunt the undead zombies on a large scale first, it would instead alert the other named monsters and cause some of them to flee to other areas. Especially if they fled to the areas of other consortiums, they would become the property of those other consortiums.

Looking at these zombies swaying aimlessly, Dudian didn't feel the slightest bit of fear as he did at first. Instead, he was filled with joy. He quickly found a high point in a dilapidated building, threw down stones, and used the sound to attract the zombies on the nearby streets. Then he drew his arrow and shot.
