Chapter 133 - Chapter 133: Qualified

Dudian didn't expect to meet her on the way, and he was extremely delighted. He said, "What a coincidence. I met you again."

Jenny said happily, "Why are you here?"

"I told you, my goal is as great as yours," Dudian smiled. "I'm also here to take the exam and strive to become a cleric!"

Jenny was slightly taken aback, and her cheeks turned a bit red. She asked, "Have you studied the law?"

"Of course I have," Dudian deliberately put on a proud expression and said.

Jenny covered her mouth and giggled. She said, "Is that so? Then I'll just wait and see."

"Just watch!" Dudian said confidently.

Jenny tilted her head and looked towards the front of the carriage line. Seeing the huge crowd there, so crowded that it was impenetrable, and the carriage moving forward extremely slowly, she couldn't help but show a bit of a worried look. She said, "There are too many people. It's even a question whether we can get through. I'm afraid we won't make it in time."

Dudian also thought this was a problem. After thinking for a while, he said to her, "How about this? Get out of the carriage, and I'll take you through."

"You?" Jenny looked at him and shook her head. "We can't squeeze through."

"No, we can. I'm very strong!" Dudian raised his arm and deliberately squeezed his muscles. In the blink of an eye, he said, "Don't forget what I do."

Jenny suddenly realized, and her eyes lit up. She said, "Okay, wait for me. I'll come down right away."

"Miss, you can't!" The young knight standing in front of Dudian saw that she was really about to get out of the carriage and quickly tried to stop her.

The carriage door was pushed open, and Jenny stepped down from the carriage step with a trot. She was wearing a green floral dress, which was extremely eye-catching and full of a lively atmosphere.

"Don't stop me. Otherwise, if I miss the exam, I'll tell my father!" Jenny said hurriedly when she saw the young knight blocking her way.

The young knight hesitated a bit and said, "Miss, how about I carry you and escort you through? I swear by the loyalty of a knight that I have absolutely no improper thoughts..."

Before he could finish speaking, he suddenly felt a strong push on his back. The force was so heavy that he almost stumbled.

When he turned around to look, he saw the boy he had stopped before grabbing the young lady and squeezing into the crowd. In the blink of an eye, they disappeared without a trace.

"Miss! Miss!" The young knight was shocked and shouted hurriedly. He pushed aside the two people in front of him and tried to squeeze through, but with his strong build and full set of armor, it was inevitable that he would accidentally hurt some people if he tried to squeeze through the dense crowd, which was against the knight's code.

...

...

"Make way, make way, make way!"

Dudian held Jenny's small hand with one hand and quickly pushed aside the people in front with the other hand. They darted left and right through the crowd like two small fish.

When he smelled that the young knight wasn't chasing after them, Dudian let out a sigh of relief. They came to the side of the street at the edge of the crowd. Looking at Jenny whose hair was disheveled, he asked, "Are you okay?"

Jenny patted her chest with her small hand and exhaled, saying, "I'm okay. I just felt a bit out of breath. It was too stuffy."

"It's okay. Let's take a rest," Dudian said considerately.

Jenny nodded. Suddenly, she realized that her hand was still tightly held by Dudian. Her face immediately became hot, and she said softly, "You can let go of me now."

Only then did Dudian realize that he was still holding her hand. He immediately felt that her small hand was as soft as if there were no bones. An indescribable warmth and excitement welled up in his heart. He said, "There are too many people here. If I let go of you, we'll get separated."

Upon hearing this, Jenny came to her senses. Thinking about the surrounding situation, if she were to be separated from Dudian and be alone in this chaotic crowd, she couldn't help but shudder. For a moment, she suddenly felt that the other person's palm was so thick and warm, giving her a strong sense of security. Her face turned red, and she lowered her head without saying anything.

Seeing that she didn't speak, Dudian thought that what he said might not be appropriate. He added, "But don't worry. Even if we get separated, I will definitely find you, no matter where you are!"

Jenny lowered her head and softly replied with an "Mmm", not daring to look up.

After a while, when Jenny's breathing became even, Dudian took her and squeezed through the crowd again, moving forward all the way.

The crowded people in front were gently pushed aside by his one hand, creating a gap. When these people who were pushed aside wanted to get angry, they couldn't see Dudian and Jenny anymore, or they vented their anger on the wrong people, causing a lot of quarrels and curses to break out.

Before long, Dudian finally brought Jenny to the front of Bol Square at the end of the street. There were already a huge number of people here, a sea of heads.

"Let me see what's going on," Dudian said to Jenny. He leaped up and jumped on the spot. Suddenly, he saw the scene in front of him. Although the outer perimeter of the square was filled with a dense crowd of people, there was a circular open area in the center of the square with a diameter of about twenty meters. In the middle of this open area, there was a rectangular table, and behind it sat three figures wearing snow-white robes, two men and one woman.

In front of them, there was a long line of people.

After Dudian landed, he jumped up again and quickly scanned the head of the line.

"How is it?" Jenny asked hurriedly when she saw Dudian land.

Dudian smiled and said, "Follow me." He grabbed her hand and squeezed through from the side. After a while, they came to the back of the line he had seen before.

There were a large group of young boys and girls standing here, all dressed in fine clothes. Judging from their demeanor and clothing, most of them were children of noble families or descendants of wealthy merchant families. It was evident how attractive the position of a cleric in the Tribunal was.

Dudian held Jenny's hand and quietly squeezed to the back of these people.

After a while, the people in line in front decreased one by one. Dudian held Jenny's hand, followed the crowd, and squeezed into the line.

"You stand in front," Dudian said to Jenny.

Jenny looked at him for a moment, didn't say anything, and quietly stood in front of him.

Dudian stood behind her, smelling the faint fragrance of her hair. His heart was filled with a wonderful feeling, and he wished that this line could just keep going like this.

"The preliminary examination seems to be very strict," Jenny said worriedly as she looked at the young boys and girls in line in front, who came back with dejected expressions one by one.

Dudian encouraged her, saying, "Believe in yourself. You can definitely do it."

Hearing his words, Jenny's nervous heart relaxed a bit. Soon, all the people in front had left, and it was Jenny's turn.

"This is the test question. Please write down the answer within one minute," an old man with white hair in the middle of the table in front said indifferently.

The maidservant standing beside the three of them came up and handed Jenny a piece of white paper and a quill pen, asking her to go to the table to answer the question.

"People behind, don't peek," the maidservant instructed Dudian and the people behind him.

In fact, even if Dudian wanted to peek, he couldn't see. When filling out the test question, Jenny's body was turned back to him, blocking the test question, and he couldn't see the answer at all.

A middle-aged woman sitting on the left side looked at the pocket watch in her hand and said, "Time's up."

Jenny immediately stopped writing.

The old man in the middle picked up the white paper she had filled out, looked at it, and nodded. He said, "Not bad. You're qualified. Come to the Tribunal on Puss Avenue for an interview before 9 o'clock tomorrow morning. Good luck."

Jenny was taken aback and then overjoyed.

"Please don't talk to others," the maidservant beside her instructed Jenny.

Jenny looked back at Dudian, hesitating to speak.

Dudian smiled and said, "You wait for me over there. I'll take you away together later."

Jenny let out a sigh of relief and nodded.
