Chapter 7 - CHAPTER 7:A HURDLE IN LOVE?

As time went on, Monica became more engaged in her relationship with Lynx. They weren't exactly the picture-perfect couple, but they had their own rhythm. Lynx was still Lynx—quiet, reserved, and not one to express much emotion—but Monica was starting to understand his small gestures.

A few months passed, and things seemed to be going well. Until one evening, completely out of the blue, Monica's parents decided to check her phone.

She should have been more cautious.

Her heart nearly stopped when she saw her mom scrolling through her messages. And there it was—the undeniable proof of her relationship with Lynx. The texts filled with "I love you" and other affectionate messages.

Her mom's reaction was instant. Disgusted. Furious.

"What is this?" Her mother's voice was sharp, cutting through the room. "You think you're some kind of pretty girl now? Dating behind our backs?"

Monica could barely get a word in before the insults began.

Her mom picked apart her appearance, shaming her, throwing hurtful words as if they were nothing. "No wonder no one takes you seriously," she sneered. "You're lucky a boy even bothers with you, looking like that."

Monica felt her throat tighten. It wasn't just about the relationship—her mother made it personal, tearing her down piece by piece. And then came the command:

"Break up with him. Now."

But Monica wasn't going to give up so easily.

Instead of ending things with Lynx, she simply became more cautious. She regularly deleted their chats, making sure there was no trace of their conversations. If her parents ever checked her phone again, they wouldn't find anything.

She never told Lynx about any of this. She didn't think it was necessary. It wasn't like he could do anything about it, and she didn't want to bring her problems into their relationship.

But even as she hid her texts and kept up the act at home, something else weighed on her—her mom's constant insults.

It didn't stop.

Her mom kept at it, shaming her, making her feel small, unworthy. And the worst part? She wasn't even mad about the relationship anymore—she just wanted to break Monica down.

Just imagine it. A 15-year-old girl, getting roasted by her own mother, over and over again, just for wanting to be loved.
