After the battle of Ishelm, many came home because of Dawn Officer's presence, however, some still died, their family in grievance, many filled with unfair rage towards Dawn Exfir.
Random woman: "YOU PROMISED TO BRING MY SON BACK! YOU LIED TO ME!"
Dawn: "I-I'm sorry.. I tried my best.."
Random woman: "WELL YOUR BEST KILLED MY SON! YOU WORTHLESS PIECE OF SHIT!"
Dawn felt as if everything she was saying was true, all he could say was "I'm sorry."
He had promised to bring back all his men alive. It was an unrealistic goal, bringing back a whole army of 10,000 against an army of 280,000, but the people believed him, he was seen as the source of hope because of his incredible power.
Soon Dawn returned to his home, waiting for him, was no one. Dawn did not have any family left, they all died a long while ago. He set his stuff down, sat down, and went into deep thinking about what he did wrong, what could he have done better to ensure all of his men came back.
He couldn't understand, he had the power so how could he not do something as simple as protecting his men. He struggled to understand,
Dawn: "What is the point of all this power if I can't even use it to protect the people around me.. This war would have not been a thing if our "king" had not fled during the 3rd great war in the first place, so much for being called "Humanity's strongest," just to flee when the opportunity presents itself! I swear.. on the gods.. I. WILL. KILL. YOU!"
One of the soldiers from earlier knocked on Dawn's door: "sir.. would you like to come celebrate with us..?"
Dawn: "WHAT THE FUCK IS THERE TO CELEBRATE?! OUR MEN DIED OUT THERE! And all y'all want to do is drink beer and eat.. GO, BE GONE, YOUR PRESENCE IS NOT WANTED!"
Soldier: "Yes sir."
After the soldier had left, Dawn continued to think, about what he could have done,
Dawn: "what more could I have done to prevent any casualties.. I couldn't have used Blue hypergiant, it would've killed my men too.. maybe if I had hit them with solar flare before the fight had started.. no because even then some would still be alive.. what could I have done better..?"
Eventually, Dawn got to the conclusion that there was nothing more he could do, however that only made him worse. The realization that you were powerless to do anything more is severe. Dawn started sulking until he drifted off to bed.
