Chapter 19 - Good news, times two

When Sophie arrived home, her parents both complimented her new outfit and her hair and asked if she got new contacts.

"Well, I was going to tell you sooner but I kind of have a boyfriend now. He goes to the Harmonia School for the Gifted and is the top student. He's very sweet and I thought for my birthday maybe we could all have dinner?" Sophie asked while blushing.

"Why didn't you tell us sooner sweetie, you know you don't have to be afraid of us," her mom ran over and hugged her.

Sophie noticed her parents both had some sort of green aura inside of them, which she figured must be good and she told herself she'd ask Zander later.

"Anyway what's this big news dad?" Sophie asked.

"Your Mother and I have talked and as of today, I am the new head of Solace hospital, which I mentioned last night but your Mother always has news!" her dad happily exclaimed.

Her Mother had a big smile and chimed in, "I'm also handing over the restaurant to my sous chef for the time being. With your Father getting this big promotion, he'll make more than enough to support us, although he did that before anyway," to which her Father cut her Mother off, "says my wife, the owner and head chef of the most successful restaurant on Main Street in Northern Harmonia," as the three smiled and laughed.

"I'm really proud of you dad, and mom, it will be nice to spend more time as a family won't it?" Sophie asked, although in the back of her head, she thought exactly the opposite would happen.

"Yes it will. I'll still own the restaurant but I'll only retain 25% of the profits. The rest will go to my sous chef and the staff of course," her Mom explained.

The family spent the rest of the day together, having a nice dinner before Sophie asked if she could spend the night at Claire's house tonight. They agreed and she texted Claire and asked if her mom would cover for them. Claire texted her back yes, which made Sophie smile.

"What time would you like to meet my boyfriend tomorrow?" Sophie finally plucked up the courage to ask.

"Does this boyfriend have a name?" her mother teased her.

"Yes but I want him to introduce himself and make his own impression on you. So what time?"

"How about 5 PM and if it goes well, maybe we will let him stay afterward. Because it's your birthday, we will take your brothers over to their aunt's house" her father said.

"Oh, thank you!" Sophie added as she excused herself and went and got ready for the night.

Just as Sophie got to her parent's house, Zander was waiting in the lobby of attorney Frankfurt's office, which was also located in capitol city and was quite the beautiful law firm. It was host to over 20 lawyers, some of which Zander recognized from billboards, the news and commercials.

With phoenix eyes on, he noticed every employee was some shade of green, which made him happy, and as Attorney Frankfurt walked out, Zander knew who it was right away because it was a dark green aura with a hint of gold.

He came out, waved Zander over. He didn't announce his name, which Zander thought was very polite, and with that they were in his office.

"Crap, I totally forgot I said I was bringing Cyrus's dad but oh well, I should be ok." Zander thought.

"Will Mr. Hart be joining us or would you like to begin Zander?" Attorney Frankfurt asked with a big smile.

"I actually totally lost track of time and texted Mr. Hart not to worry and that I would be ok," Zander admitted, while rubbing his head with his right hand.

"Well that's no bother let's get him on the phone then," the attorney suggested.

"Hello Jim, it's been awhile how are you doing, I hope you and Janice are well," Mr. Hart said as he answered the phone.

"She is doing very well and how about your family?" the attorney asked.

"My son finally has a girlfriend and is still second in his class to the young man sitting in front of you, who forgot about me today," Mr. Hart said with a kind, joking laugh.

"Well he certainly didn't forget to dress nice, anyway, enough small talk, this is all rather neatly kept and straightforward," Jim began.

"The only matter that needs to be addressed that I wasn't aware of is that Mr. Grace will be taking over Solace hospital per Zander's request after Doctor Erikkson was found to be stealing funds. I'm sorry we didn't catch this sooner Zander,"

Zander responded, "its fine you couldn't have known and yes Doctor Grace is perfect."

"As for the orphanage, apartments, church, hospital and Ella as his financial advisor, everything just needs to be signed over to Zander's name. I've prepared the documents here. Mr. Hart, would you like me to send you a PDF to look over?" Jim explained.

"Sure Jim, thank you," Mr Hart said.

After a few moments of silence, Mr. Hart told Zander to thank Attorney Frankfurt for his hard work, as everything had been done so smoothly and the documents looked legally sound and trustworthy.

To his surprise, each time Zander went to sign, he saw a flash of gold aura, almost as if to signal that everything was indeed fair and just.

"Alright Mr. Hart I'm going to let you go as we're going to get into the financials, I'm sure you understand, thanks again for hopping on a call," Attorney Frankfurt said and Mr. Hart thanked them both and hung up.

"Now for the great news, well, first let me again tell you how sorry I am for your loss. Rest assured this great news is because your parents were great people, not great news that they are gone. I'm sure all of us, including the people who have taken over since they retired, well besides Doctor Erikkson, who I heard you gave quite the beating," as they both laughed at that part, "would much rather have your parents then the life insurance money you and they have received." Jim said.

"You're right, I got the same sense from meeting all of them. They were all so kind, as were you, and I'm glad Doctor Grace got the job. I actually met him beforehand when I was on the floor of my Moms old office," Zander said.

"So the great news is financially, well, let's just say despite me telling you not to splurge, I can tell that suit cost a pretty penny, but I am happy you listened to Ella and had her setup investment savings accounts with the majority of the life insurance money, that when you turn 17, you'll have a net worth of about 75 million dollars."

Zander's jaw almost hit the floor, "I thought my parents donated all their money?" Zander asked in a confused tone.

"That's why the news is great Zander, they donate over 500 million a year if you include the hospital, free housing for foster parents, charities etc. Even with all that money donated, you're still going to be worth millions, when you turn 17," Jim explained.

"So just by signing the papers and leaving everyone in charge, everything just keeps running smoothly and I don't have to worry about anything related to their businesses and charities?" Zander asked with a big smile.

"Precisely Zander. You're lucky to have parents like you had but I do have bad news. I'm really sorry about this, it's quite a mystery but none of the bodies could be recovered from the ambush," Jim said.

"Wait, how is that even possible? It happened in SilverCrest and they were blessed by Tej and the Father," Zander spoke and realized he may have said too much.

"I know, and I'm sworn to secrecy as your attorney so don't worry and yes I know about Tej and the Father. That's why it's strange. We feel Theo is behind the ambush but can't figure out why. It may have been an attempt to draw you out in anger, which is why your parents set everything up so nicely. You see, you are protected until you are 18 and they were only protected for 11 years. With Doctor Erikkson turning, you have to be careful of these things, especially when you turn 18. Until then, I want you to enjoy life, find a girlfriend, fall in love, buy yourself a nice car if you'd like, buy another suit like that, do whatever but I do have three more things to give you," Jim stated.

"First, these are keys to your parents vacation home in South Harmonia. Remember they owned that place as well but I ensure you the person in charge can be trusted, but you can see for yourself if you'd like," Jim said, but Zander nodded in agreement, and said, "Mr. and Mrs Oliver are indeed great people and always welcome me with open arms when I visit."

"Second, these are keys to your house, and keys to the four vehicles your parents have in their garage. Everything in the house is yours and all of it is paid off in full," Jim explained.

Jim pulled something out of a safe after entering a long combination, "Lastly, this is a USB drive of a video your parents made. They would make a new one every year, and they had literally made one for your upcoming birthday the morning that they left on their mission. They made me delete the old ones, but it's a recorded video message from your parents in case, well, let's say, you met me," Jim stated.

Zander took the USB as tears flowed from his eyes and Jim came around and patted Zander on the back, "no need for tears my boy, your parents loved what they did and I'm sure you saw it if you visited all their places of investment, so remember how great they are and know they're at peace." Jim said.

Zander wiped away the tears after remembering the Johnson's orphanage and all the happy kids and thanked Jim for saying that.

"You're right, thank you so much Attorney Frankfurt," Zander said and went out for a handshake, and to his surprise, received a giant hug from him.

"Call me Jim and call me anytime. If anything changes on my end I'll give you a call. Also, make sure you find someone who can hold a candle to your mom. You already remind me of your Dad, just much more fit and much taller, but just as kind-hearted and loving," Jim stated.

"I have, it's actually Doctor Grace's daughter. I had no idea until she told me what her parents did for a living. Thanks again for the school transfers. It's going to make life easier for me," Zander smiled.

"Don't mention it, that was easy, especially with those girls' transcripts," Jim said, and asked if Zander needed anything else before they wrapped up.

"Actually, yes. Can you add Sophie Grace to my housing title and have a note written up from my mom leaving the brand new car they left me to Sophie for her birthday?" Zander asked, and although he felt bad about forging a letter from his deceased parents, he felt it was the only way Sophie would accept it. They only met her once after all, but they had told Zander they could see those two living a long healthy life together.

He didn't think much of it at the time, but the way the universe was moving in his life right now, he was putting more stock into, "love at first sight."

"Certainly. Let me just make the change on your deed and type of this letter. Do you want to wait in the lobby?" Jim asked.

"Sure, that sounds good."

"Well, that went better than I thought. I wonder how Sophie's day with her parents went?" Zander thought while waiting.

About twenty minutes later, Jim came out and handed a copy of the housing deed, which included Sophie and a letter for him for the new vehicle. He read the letter, thanked Jim and decided it was time to head home.
