Chapter 10 - Fragments of Divinity

The Battlefield of Fate

The metro station lay in ruins, the very walls crumbling under the force of the battle. Dust swirled through the air, illuminated by the golden glow radiating from Kael's body. The entity stood across from him, unshaken, observing him with an eerie stillness.

Elyra clutched her gun, her breath shallow. "Kael… what's happening to you?"

Kael's fingers twitched. He could feel something vast, something immeasurable stirring within him. His body moved before he could think, dodging the entity's next attack with precision that defied human limits.

The golden mark on his forehead pulsed. More fragments of his past—of his true self—slipped through the cracks of the seal that bound his memories.

---

The Words of the Past

As the entity raised its hand again, an unfamiliar yet familiar voice echoed in Kael's mind.

You were never meant to sleep forever.

He saw flashes of towering deities bowing before him, their celestial bodies radiating divine light. A throne carved from the bones of dead stars. A war that had torn galaxies apart.

Kael clutched his chest as an overwhelming energy surged through him. It felt like drowning in an ocean of forgotten power.

The entity tilted its head. "You are awakening faster than expected."

Kael exhaled sharply. "Then let's see if I like what I find."

---

The Clash of Power

This time, Kael didn't wait. He lunged forward, golden energy coiling around his fists like living lightning. He struck with a speed beyond human comprehension, each blow resonating with power that threatened to tear the air apart.

The entity countered effortlessly, its movements precise, as if it had fought gods before. Their battle became a blur of motion—strikes that shattered stone, shockwaves that sent debris flying.

Elyra could do nothing but watch, her mind unable to process the sheer scale of the fight before her.

Kael gritted his teeth. "You're holding back."

The entity's golden eyes burned brighter. "And yet, you struggle."

Kael's body tensed as the entity raised its hand. Reality itself seemed to warp, and in an instant, an unseen force slammed into him, sending him skidding across the ruined platform. His vision blurred, but before he could recover, the entity was upon him, striking him with a force that made the world tremble.

For a moment, everything went black.

The Voice Beyond Time

In the abyss of unconsciousness, Kael heard it again.

Do you remember now?

He stood in the vastness of space, countless stars flickering in the distance. Before him, a colossal being radiated endless divinity, its form shifting between light and shadow.

You are not meant to fall.

Kael gasped as a surge of power flooded his veins. He remembered more now—the chains that once bound him, the war that had forced him to slumber, the truth of what he was.

A god. A ruler. A force beyond mortality.

His eyes snapped open.

The Return

Back in the ruined metro, the entity stood over Kael's fallen body, its gaze unreadable. It turned slightly toward Elyra, who froze in fear.

Then, Kael moved.

In a single instant, he was back on his feet. The golden energy around him had changed—no longer unstable, but refined, controlled. The very air trembled as he exhaled.

The entity paused. "So, you do remember."

Kael smirked, golden lightning crackling at his fingertips. "Not everything. But enough."

The entity stepped back, as if reassessing the situation. "Then our time here is done. For now."

Without another word, it vanished, leaving only the echoes of its presence behind.

Kael stared at the empty space where it had stood. His journey was just beginning, and for the first time, he felt like he was truly waking up.
