Lu Yifan sat in the dimly lit room, the weight of his new reality pressing down on him like an iron shackle. He had traded one prison for another. The cold pavement where he had almost met his end had been replaced by velvet cushions and fine liquor, but the chains remained, invisible yet unbreakable.
Gu Fan sat across from him, swirling a glass of wine in his hand, his gaze never leaving Lu Yifan. "You've healed well," he remarked, his tone eerily casual. "I assume you understand what that means."
Lu Yifan swallowed hard, his throat dry. "You saved my life," he admitted. "I owe you."
Gu Fan smirked. "Good. You learn quickly. That's what I need in my people obedience. Intelligence. A willingness to get their hands dirty when necessary."
Lu Yifan clenched his fists. He had spent his whole life as a carefree playboy, gambling, drinking, and indulging in excess. Now, he was at the mercy of a man whose ambitions had no limits. "What do you want me to do?" he asked, his voice low.
Gu Fan leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees. "You've already been useful. Your presence in Chen Wei's life is disruptive. But I need more."
Lu Yifan's heart pounded. "More?"
Gu Fan's eyes gleamed. "I want you to destroy him completely. And this time, you won't fail."
The words sent a chill down Lu Yifan's spine. He knew Gu Fan was ruthless, but this... this was something else.
"You expect me to take down Chen Wei?" Lu Yifan scoffed. "I can't even get close to him . He's on guard. How tried to ruin him."
Gu Fan chuckled, shaking his head. "That's because you're reckless. You act without thinking. That's why you fail. But don't worry I don't need you to get close to him. I need you to be the spark that ignites something much bigger."
Lu Yifan frowned. "What are you planning?"
Gu Fan stood, walking toward the window. The city lights reflected in his cold eyes. "War," he murmured. "A war that will bring the Chen family to its knees. And you, Lu Yifan, will be my pawn."
Lu Yifan inhaled sharply. He wanted to refuse, to tell Gu Fan to find someone else. But the memory of that night the pain, the helplessness reminded him that refusal wasn't an option.
"What do you need me to do?" he asked finally, surrendering to his fate.
Gu Fan turned back, a triumphant smile on his lips. "That's the spirit. Now, listen carefully..."
---
A familiar voice broke through his thoughts
Mr Lu.
What are you going to do next. Should we continue to target Chen wei company.
"No not now".
"The assistant was relieved to hear Lu Yifan refuse. Only a fool would dare compete with Chen Wei. Of course, he wouldn't say that out loud he could only think it to himself."
Chen wei was only twenty years old when he take over Chen's group. He has even accomplish more than the Chen family has over years. He even became the richest man in country S for six consecutively years.
The assistant had always wanted to talk some sense into Lu Yifan. He couldn't understand why Lu Yifan insisted on competing with Chen Wei when he had no chance of winning."
But, of course, Lu Yifan's mind was elsewhere; he was thinking about how to deal with that man, whose surname is Gu.
He hated being controlled more than anything, but Gu Fan had crossed that line. Even though Gu Fan had saved his life, he had already repaid that debt. How dare he treat him like a puppet.
With determination Lu yifan clench his fist. He will make Gu Fan pay for controlling him like a puppet. He will make Chen wei pay also. Then after taking them down.
He Lu yifan will be the one everyone will bow for in country S. He will let Gu Fan control him for a while and we will see who will be the last to laugh.
.....
Sometimes, desperate dogs shouldn't be underestimated.
What Gu Fan doesn't know is that Lu Yifan will uncover his deepest secret.
