Chapter 14 - Chapter 14: Sivis, Are You Out of Your Mind?!

The adventurers begged desperately, their usual arrogance and ruthlessness completely gone. There was no trace of the cold-blooded cruelty they had shown the previous night when they had killed several girls from the village.

Sivis took a step forward, his gaze fixed on Johnny and the others. "Last night, I remember a lot of people kneeling before you, begging you to spare their daughters. Did you let them go afterward?"

He said this slowly, casually fiddling with his fingers.

As soon as he finished speaking, the adventurers were stunned.

Wait, what are you talking about?

Why bring that up now?

Are you saying we're here because of those women? Have you lost your mind? We're nobles! According to the law, we don't have to answer for killing peasants.

If those women were disobedient, so what if we killed a few?

Even the mayor didn't say anything about it.

Sivis…

Has he lost his mind??

What the hell!

They were dealing with a madman!!

The adventurers found it absurd, like a toy being broken and then being told to pay with their lives after slaughtering a few animals.

No matter how powerful the person demanding the price, it all felt completely ridiculous.

But despite the emotions swirling inside, the adventurers didn't dare to openly criticize Sivis. They could only adopt a pleading and helpless attitude, each of them saying, "We were wrong, we really understand now!"

"Please let us go, we'll make full amends to those families. My family has money, we'll compensate them until they're satisfied!"

"Yes, yes, we... we can do that, we're willing to pay. We'll apologize to them, let them hit us, punish us..."

Even though in their hearts they felt that Sivis was insane, no wonder he was mixed up with monsters.

They had no choice but to beg desperately.

But Sivis merely continued, calmly asking, "Look at you, you're rambling again. What I'm asking is, when those people begged you to spare their daughters, did you let them go? Also, when these three attendants begged you for mercy, did you let them go?"

"This... this..." The adventurers were at a loss for words, unable to respond.

"We'll make it right, yes, we definitely will."

Sivis smiled slightly and asked, "I'm asking you, why do you keep avoiding the question? I just want to know—when those people begged for mercy, did you spare them? And before you came to Hanseter Town, when you publicly executed a young man who brought you tea, he begged for mercy too. Did you spare him?"

"What the hell do you want from us?" With each soft question from Sivis and each step he took closer, the adventurers' faces began to show signs of breaking down.

"Have you lost your mind? You crazy bastard! Damn it! We only killed a few lowlifes, what do you want from us?!"

"We can pay you money, we can apologize."

"You're going to chase us for something so petty? Sivis, you're fucking insane."

"You've been blinded by the Evil God!"

The adventurers were breaking down, screaming in rage!

How could they answer?

How could they plead??

Sivis was going crazy over some "little things" that they didn't even remember clearly!!

They thought to themselves, as normal people, what could they even say?

"Don't get cocky! You're going to die too!"

"Our family won't let you get away with this!"

"You'll die a thousand times worse than us!"

...

The adventurers were hysterical.

How were you supposed to communicate with a madman?

However, the most unbelievable thing was that group of civilians hiding in the woods.

They had clearly heard Sivis's questioning and were left utterly perplexed.

What was going on with this lord?

Was he really causing trouble for these adventurers just because of a group of ordinary people, the same as them?

"Is this a joke? Could there really be someone like this? This can't be real!" someone whispered among the crowd.

Several young men tightened their grips on their farming tools, their faces full of confusion. "Our lives were never worth as much as these nobles. Why..."

"I think, if those adventurers really make the compensation as promised, what's the problem with that?"

"Even if their daughters died, they could always have another one, right? With one more mouth to feed at home, they're probably already struggling."

One by one, the civilians found Sivis's actions completely incomprehensible!

It was understandable to mourn the loss of a loved one, but they were already living difficult lives. Wasn't it better to get some money in exchange?

Their expressions were filled with doubt and disbelief.

If the lord of the monster lair was simply not as cruel and exploitative as other nobles, and instead left them a way to survive, they would be overjoyed and extremely grateful.

But Sivis's actions right now left them confused and unable to accept. It all felt unreal.

That mage looked like a noble from his attire, so why would he care about these lowly people?

The civilians weren't well-educated, but they had survival instincts.

They grew wary of this lord. Sudden kindness like this usually hid a dark ulterior motive.

The civilians didn't act rashly; they simply continued to observe—

They saw Sivis quickly drag Mansur to the magic array, then throw a warrior beside him.

Corpse Resurrection could only sacrifice two people at most at a time.

Feeling the surging magical energy below, the two adventurers who had been cursing earlier now wore expressions of pure terror: "Sivis! Don't!"

"Please, have mercy!"

"I was wrong!"

Their desperate pleas were utterly useless.

Sivis snapped his fingers, and the magic array immediately activated. The dark green light spread like a raging flame, consuming their bodies, souls, and wills.

They screamed in agony, feeling everything about them being burned and refined. The pain far surpassed any earthly torture.

"You demon! Devil! You'll never have peace! Our family will never forgive you! The Church won't let you get away with this!" Mansur and the warrior screamed.

Sivis smiled, his eyes narrowing. "You two curse like you're whining."

"When I play various games, I often role-play as all kinds of devils."

In his past life's game, the portrayal of various devils was often quite handsome, and with this kind of attack, Sivis could only laugh.

He looked at Mansur. "Based on our brief time together, I'm certain you used potions to corrupt and kill three girls." He then turned to the other warrior, Sumus. "Earlier, in the town, you kicked an old man off his horse and broke his spine, and you also slaughtered his wife and children."

"As a 'devil'…"

"I hereby declare, you are guilty."

He said this with a smile, as if discussing what he would have for dinner that night.

But as his words fell, the flames from the Corpse Resurrection spell grew even fiercer!

The screams grew even more horrific!

Immediately after, Sivis heard the pleasant sound of a system notification in his ear—

[You have extracted a bit of soul point through sacrifice.]

[You have extracted a bit of soul point through sacrifice.]

[You have extracted…]

...

At this point, the magic array was fully activated, and the true moment of sacrifice and refinement had arrived!

Sivis seemed to be relishing it.

To the adventurers, the word "devil" they had shouted earlier now became reality.

Who else, if not a devil, could have such a terrifying presence?

Upon hearing Sivis pronounce their guilt, Mansur and Sumus gritted their teeth. "You madman! Who cares about those peasants?!"

"You're just looking for an excuse to get back at me!"

Under the searing heat of the flames, the two adventurers no longer begged for mercy. They just roared in hatred.

Their voices hoarse, their bodies in such a terrible state that it was hard to look at them.

Sivis, while absorbing the soul points, watched their suffering, then glanced at the three remaining adventurers, whose faces were full of disbelief at the absurdity of it all.

Sivis even sensed, through his mental connection, the confusion and disbelief emanating from the civilians in the distant woods.

Unable to resist, he spoke out, "Who says no one cares? I care!"

"I've been sick of you people for so long!"

A certain emotion in Sivis's eyes seemed to have been suppressed for a long time!

He had been living in this world for 18 years since his transmigration, and had witnessed far too many things that disgusted him. But he was just an underwhelming mage with no ability to do anything about it.

That didn't mean the anger inside him hadn't built up, nor did it mean he was blind to everything happening around him!

Sivis had been almost 20 when he transmigrated, with a full set of values already formed. How could he have become someone else just because of reincarnation?

In his previous life, he had eagerly played Gandanyir over and over, smashing this bloody world to pieces as the Monster Lord, again and again!
