Chapter 15 - Chapter 15: The Fire of Sacrifice

At this moment, Sivis suddenly heard a cold laugh.

"You, a human traitor who walks with monsters, still have the gall to be so compassionate." Johnny spoke, finally realizing that Sivis couldn't be a monster disguised as a human. He was simply a person with extremely "unique" ideas.

"I'm compassionate?" Sivis was momentarily stunned. He looked at the dark green flames dancing across his face, which made his handsome features appear almost strange.

He found it amusing.

So now I'm the good guy??

Sivis thought it was a bit absurd.

It was almost laughable.

He had always leaned toward quietly building his strength and developing his territory steadily. If it weren't for these adventurers coming here and threatening the very existence of his land, Sivis wouldn't have acted so soon.

Perhaps the pressure of barely keeping his life intact had been too much, or perhaps, being an Evil God meant a future fraught with danger. Sivis couldn't help but vent as he said, "I've always been a cold-hearted person."

It seemed like he was speaking to the adventurers, but his gaze was fixed on the sky. Through the layers of clouds, his thoughts seemed to drift back to a modern city, a place whose memories were already fading.

"I remember once a friend invited me to join a march to fight for better treatment and welfare for workers. I refused, just wanting to lie in bed a bit longer. Someone invited me to attend a lecture on equality. I had no interest, so I turned around and played a few more rounds of games."

"The so-called good deeds I've done, none of them were sincere. If I bumped into someone's plate at a meal, I'd apologize, simply because they were a pretty girl. If I came across a homeless person begging for change, I'd give a few coins, just because I happened to have some in my pocket. If I saw someone about to jump off a building, I'd call the police and leave quickly, not wanting to get involved. How am I any kind of good person?"

Sivis recalled his friends' assessment of him in his past life—an indifferent, reclusive gamer.

It was an accurate description.

He thought of himself the same way.

But then…

His tone suddenly shifted, growing more intense. "But you people—you're the ones who pushed me too far! You made me reach my breaking point!"

"I don't even understand. I clearly learned in class that every animal feels discomfort when seeing the pain of its own kind."

"How is it that you people can treat those weaker than you so… insanely?"

With that roar.

The dark green flames burned brighter, shooting into the sky.

The eerie fire acted like a beacon, brightening the area around the territory even in the daytime.

It was like a strange, new sun.

The two adventurers in the magic array, under the searing heat of the flames, were completely sacrificed, their soul points merging into Sivis's body.

In that moment, there was a heavy silence.

Sivis felt an inexplicable sense of calm in his heart.

He didn't know if, as an Evil God, he could survive for long.

But at least, Sivis had the power to sweep away all the unjust realities within his own territory!

Thinking about this, he felt a wave of relief.

This was far more comfortable than life in his family!

At this moment, the surroundings were silent, and no one spoke for a long while.

Confusion flickered in the eyes of the adventurers, and the three attendants were equally puzzled. The civilians in the distant woods felt the same. All eyes were focused on Sivis, as if they were seeing something that should not exist in this world—something between a demon and a saint, or something else entirely indescribable.

Sivis didn't care about the reactions of the people around him. His focus was solely on the soul points that were about to be his.

Now was the time to reap. Without hesitation, he swiftly stepped forward, heading toward the remaining three adventurers.

Johnny and the others were unwilling to die like this.

But their lips trembled slightly as they watched Sivis approach. Their minds were blank, and they couldn't think of anything to say that might save them.

As Sivis drew nearer, a foul odor filled the air, and everyone noticed that one of the warrior adventurers had been so terrified that he had wet his pants.

It was almost laughable!!

"Don't! Don't..."

The man seemed frozen, repeatedly calling out, twisting his body in a desperate attempt to get away, but everything he did was pitiful and grotesque!

A flicker of disdain crossed Sivis's eyes.

"Hahaha, this is what you call nobility? You're so pathetic, you literally wet yourself from fear." There was mocking laughter nearby.

The adventurer wetting himself didn't go unnoticed by Sivis, and two of the young attendants also saw it.

For some reason, the two attendants, who had previously been trembling with fear, now found themselves filled with a sudden burst of courage.

The adventurer who had wet himself, his eyes filled with malice, had initially planned to threaten the three attendants, but as the words reached his mouth, he realized he couldn't move at all.

He wanted to use his family's influence to destroy the three civilians' kin, but then he remembered that the elderly man and his two children were already destitute, their relatives either dead from hunger or mysteriously vanished. He had no real power to threaten them.

Fortunately—

On the other side, Priestess Zemur's gaze hardened, her lips parting slightly as a mental shockwave shot toward the elderly man and his two children.

The mental shock made the three attendants' expressions change.

"You filthy peasants, how dare you speak out!" Zemur gritted her teeth as she spoke.

But just then, Zemur was stunned to find that, despite the mental shock, the elderly man still cowered, while the two young men suddenly burst into loud, maniacal laughter: "Yes, yes, we're just peasants! It's a shame that you noble adventurers and lords will die with us!"

"How wonderful, how worth it! Too bad we couldn't kill you with our own hands, to avenge the way you treated us before!"

"But dying alongside you... is enough!"

The two of them shouted madly, their voices filled with exhilaration.

They looked at Sivis… and in their eyes, there was a sense of longing, admiration, and even worship.

Even though the two young men didn't know how friendly Sivis was toward civilians, they were convinced they wouldn't escape death. But that didn't stop the surge of passion in their hearts.

They had long suppressed their anger toward the oppression from the nobles.

Finally...

Someone was speaking up for them, for people like them. Even if they had to die on this land, watching these nobles face their doom together was a form of comfort.

Let this lord walk over our corpses as he moves forward!

At this moment, Zemur, who had just been holding a noble posture, instantly turned pale with a look of utter distaste.

"Am I supposed to die here with these peasants? Impossible! I am a priestess who wields divine magic, my status is far too noble to end my life in such a disgusting way! No, I won't accept this! Sivis, you cannot sacrifice me alongside them!"

"I am the daughter of the Red Priest Shunster, you owe me a death worthy of my noble status!" Zemur screamed, nearly losing her mind.

Sivis had an odd expression, finding this scene rather absurd. A malicious smile slowly crept onto his face.

He stepped forward, summoning two Wind Blades, swiftly cutting the ropes binding the three attendants.

Sivis, almost like a devil, spoke in a coaxing tone: "It seems we have no personal enmity between us."

"Here's the deal. I'll give you a chance. Help me sacrifice them, and I'll spare your lives."

Sivis's smile widened, but to Zemur and the others, it was like poison!

In an instant, their expressions changed drastically, filled with terror and panic.

What was more humiliating than being sacrificed with the peasants was the possibility of being personally dealt with by the very civilians they had always looked down upon as lowly.

"You've lost your mind! Sivis, stop daydreaming, these people could never rise up against us!"

"How dare you do this?!"

The three adventurers, each with their own posture, cursed, angry and filled with mockery.

As they spoke, the three attendants showed expressions of horror and unease upon hearing Sivis's proposal.

"Make us go after the nobles? Impossible! We can't do it, no way!" The elderly man shouted in fear.

Seeing this, Zemur and the others exchanged looks, flashing a few mocking glances.

They turned to Sivis, sneering, "They know their place. They wouldn't dare oppose the nobility."

The adventurers, realizing they wouldn't be spared, stopped wasting time begging. Instead, they thought to themselves...

If they could witness Sivis's plan failing and see his ridiculous expression, it would at least be a small joy before death.

However...

At that very moment!

Sivis didn't continue to persuade or coax. He simply stood in front of the three attendants, smiling.

The two young men suddenly jumped up, their eyes bloodshot!
