Chapter 6 - The Unexpected Encounter.

Dylan's perspective:**

I stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows, gazing out at the city skyline. The sun was setting, casting a golden glow over the concrete jungle. But I wasn't here to admire the view. I was here to finalize my plan, one that my father had set in motion.

I adjusted my crisp white dress shirt, the sleeves rolled up to my elbows. My dark trousers were perfectly pressed, and my black leather belt was polished to a high shine. My dark hair was styled perfectly, with just the right amount of gel to hold it in place. My piercing blue eyes seemed to gleam with excitement as I thought about the plan unfolding before me.

But beneath the surface, I was driven by a deeper motivation. A desire to prove myself to my father, to show him that I was more than just a disappointment. He had always been critical of me, never satisfied with my accomplishments. And I had spent my entire life trying to live up to his expectations.

My phone buzzed, and I glanced at the screen. It was one of my associates, calling to confirm that everything was in place. I smiled to myself, feeling a sense of satisfaction. This was going to be a beautiful thing.

I thought back to the conversation I had with my father, the one where he laid out his plan for me to take over Lim Enterprises. He was the mastermind behind it all, and I was just his pawn. But I didn't mind. I was happy to do his bidding, especially if it meant getting what I wanted.

And what I wanted was my father's approval. I had been trying to earn it for years, but it always seemed just out of reach. But this plan, this chance to take over Lim Enterprises, was my opportunity to prove myself.

I had heard about Alexander's inquiry concerning Lim Enterprises from our family lawyer. He had been sniffing around, trying to uncover the truth about our business dealings. And I knew that if he succeeded, it could ruin everything.

My eyes narrowed as I thought about Lim Enterprises. That company had been a thorn in my father's side for far too long. He saw it as a threat to our family's business empire, and he was determined to take it down. And now, with my help, he would finally get his chance.

I slipped on my black leather gloves, feeling the softness of the material. I picked up my silver cufflinks, shaped like miniature lions, and fastened them to my shirt cuffs. My black dress shoes were polished to a high shine, reflecting the light from the setting sun.

I turned away from the window and walked over to my desk. I sat down, my fingers flying across the keyboard as I finalized the details of my plan. It was a masterpiece, if I did say so myself.

Just as I was about to send the final instructions to my associates, my phone buzzed again. I glanced at the screen, and my smile grew wider. It was my inside man, calling to confirm that everything was ready.

"What's the status?" I asked, my voice low and smooth.

"He's on his way," the voice on the other end replied. "And he's not alone."

A shiver ran down my spine as I digested the information. The game was about to begin, and I was ready to make my move. The question was, would Alexander be able to stop me, or would I succeed in taking down Lim Enterprises once and for all?

I stood up from my desk, my eyes fixed on the city skyline outside my window. But my mind was focused on my next move. I needed to pay my brother Alexander a visit, to see firsthand what he was up to. And I knew just the people to bring along with me.

I picked up my phone and dialed a number, waiting for the person on the other end to answer. When they did, I gave them a brief instruction.

"Meet me at Alexander's office. We're going to pay him a visit."

The person on the other end of the line didn't ask any questions, they simply acknowledged the instruction and hung up. I knew I could count on them to be discreet and efficient.

I slipped on my black leather jacket, feeling the cool breeze from the air conditioning as I walked out of my office. My associates were waiting for me in the lobby, their faces expressionless as always.

Our chauffeur-driven Bentley was waiting for us outside, the sleek black car gleaming in the sunlight. We slid into the luxurious interior, and the driver navigated through the crowded roads with ease.

I could feel the excitement building up inside me, the thrill of the game about to begin. The city streets blurred by outside, a kaleidoscope of sounds and colors.

When we arrived at Alexander's office, I led the way, my associates following closely behind me. We walked into the reception area, where Alexander's secretary looked up from her desk.

"Can I help you?" she asked, her voice polite but wary.

"I need to see my brother," I replied, my voice firm. "It's urgent."

The secretary hesitated for a moment, then picked up the phone and dialed a number. After a brief conversation, she hung up and looked at me.

"He'll see you now," she said, her voice still polite.

I smiled, feeling a sense of satisfaction. This was going to be interesting. I walked towards Alexander's office, my associates following closely behind me. The door was open, and I walked in, my eyes fixed on my brother.

Alexander looked up from his desk, his eyes narrowing as he took in the sight of me and my associates. "Dylan," he said, his voice neutral. "What brings you here?"

I smiled, feeling a sense of anticipation. This was going to be a conversation to remember. But as I looked around the office, my eyes landed on a figure sitting in one of the chairs in front of Alexander's desk, and my smile froze.

It was Eva, my wife. She was sitting calmly, her hands folded in her lap, her eyes fixed on me. She looked serene, but I could sense a hint of tension beneath her calm exterior.

What was she doing here? And why was she sitting in my brother's office, looking like she was waiting for something to happen? My mind reeled with questions, but before I could ask any of them, Eva's eyes met mine, and I saw a flash of determination in them.

My heart skipped a beat as I felt a wave of unease wash over me. What was going on? And why did I suddenly feel like I was the one being played? I took a step forward, my eyes locked on Eva's, and that's when I saw it - a small, almost imperceptible nod. It was a nod that spoke volumes, a nod that made my blood run cold.
