Chapter 5 - A Sinister Plan.

Eva's perspective:**

As I stood by the window, gazing out at the city skyline, I heard the sound of Alexander's footsteps behind me. The soft thud of his shoes on the carpeted floor sent a shiver down my spine. I turned to face him, my expression neutral, but my heart racing with anticipation.

I was dressed in a sleek black pencil skirt and a crisp white blouse, my long black hair pulled back into a tight ponytail. A pair of designer heels clicked on the floor as I turned, and I felt a sense of confidence wash over me.

Alexander's piercing blue eyes locked onto mine, and for a moment, I felt like I was drowning in their depths. His chiseled features were set in a determined expression, and his dark hair was perfectly messy, as if he'd just rolled out of bed. He was dressed in a tailored black suit, a crisp white shirt, and a slim black tie.

"Hello, Eva," he said, his voice low and smooth, like honey dripping from a spoon. "Thank you for coming."

I nodded, my voice barely above a whisper. "Alexander."

He gestured for me to follow him, and I walked behind him, my heels clicking on the floor. The sound echoed through the room, and I felt a sense of trepidation wash over me.

As we entered his office, Alexander closed the door behind us, and I felt a sense of unease settle over me. The room was dimly lit, with only a few slivers of sunlight peeking through the blinds.

Alexander walked over to his desk and picked up a small remote control. He pressed a button, and the blinds slid shut, plunging the room into darkness. I felt a shiver run down my spine as he turned on a small lamp on his desk, casting a warm glow over the room.

"So, what can I do for you, Eva?" Alexander asked, his eyes narrowing slightly as he leaned back in his chair.

I took a deep breath, trying to gather my courage. My heart was pounding in my chest, and my palms were sweating. I knew I had to be careful, that I couldn't trust anyone too much.

"I know what your family is planning," I said, my voice barely above a whisper. "They're trying to take over Lim Enterprises."

Alexander's eyes widened slightly, and I knew I'd caught him off guard. He leaned forward, his elbows on his desk, and his eyes locked on mine.

"What makes you think that?" he asked, his voice cautious, like he was treading on eggshells.

I hesitated, unsure of how much to reveal. But something about Alexander's expression made me trust him, made me want to open up to him.

"I have my reasons," I said finally. "But I need your help, Alexander. I need you to help me stop them."

The silence that followed was oppressive, the tension between us palpable. I could feel Alexander's eyes on me, boring into my skin.

Suddenly, his phone buzzed, breaking the silence. Alexander's eyes flicked to the screen, and his expression darkened.

"I'm sorry, Eva," he said, his voice low. "I need to take this."

He stood up, his eyes never leaving mine, and walked to the window. I watched as he answered the call, his voice low and urgent.

My heart was racing, and I felt a sense of unease settle over me. Who was on the phone? And what did they want?

As Alexander stood by the window, his voice low and urgent, I couldn't help but feel a sense of unease wash over me.

I glanced around the room, my eyes taking in the sleek, modern decor. The dim lighting and plush carpet made me feel like I was in a luxurious cave, but the tension in the air was palpable.

Suddenly, Alexander's voice rose, and I could tell that he was arguing with whoever was on the phone. His eyes flashed with anger, and his jaw clenched, making his sharp features even more defined.

I felt a shiver run down my spine as I watched him. Who was on the other end of the line, and what were they saying to make Alexander so angry?

As I waited for Alexander to finish his call, I couldn't help but think about the reason I was here. I had come to ask for his help, to stop his family's plans to take over Lim Enterprises. But now, as I watched him argue on the phone, I wondered if I had made a mistake.

Alexander finally finished his call, his chest heaving with anger. He turned to face me, his eyes blazing with intensity.

"Eva, I'm sorry about that," he said, his voice low and rough. "But I think we have a bigger problem on our hands."

My heart skipped a beat as he walked towards me, his eyes locked on mine. What did he mean? And what did it have to do with me?

"What is it?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.

Alexander's eyes narrowed, his jaw clenched. "It's your husband, Dylan," he said, his voice dripping with venom. "He's been secretly manipulating the stock market, spreading false rumors about Lim Enterprises to drive down their stock prices."

My eyes widened in horror. I had no idea Dylan was capable of such cruelty.

"What's his endgame?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.

Alexander's expression turned grim. "He wants to buy out Lim Enterprises at a fraction of its worth," he said. "He's been working with some shady investors to make it happen."

I felt a wave of nausea wash over me. Dylan's plan was ruthless, and it would destroy everything that Lim Enterprises stood for.

"We can't let him do it," I said, my voice firm.

Alexander's eyes locked onto mine, and I could see the determination burning within them. "I know," he said. "That's why I need your help, Eva. We have to stop Dylan before it's too late."

I nodded, my heart racing with anticipation. I was ready to do whatever it took to stop Dylan and protect Lim Enterprises.

Just as I was about to respond, Alexander's phone buzzed again. He glanced at the screen, and his expression turned dark.

"What is it?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.

Alexander's eyes locked onto mine, and I could see the fear burning within them. "It's Dylan," he said. "He's on his way here. And he's not alone."
