Chapter 3 - Chapter 3 ⭃ Diagon Alley

After careful consideration, Kyle decided to deceive his father by concealing the news about the Cerberus, Fluffy.

He loved magical creatures too, though unlike Newt, he didn't possess that natural gift. Three-headed dogs were extremely rare, even in Greece, and this might be his only chance to see one.

To ease his conscience after making this decision, Kyle broke free from the twins' grip and moved to Chris's side, giving him an apologetic look.

Chris was completely bewildered. The twins were equally confused.

They had been about to execute their postponed plan of sprinkling Jumping Powder on Kyle's head when, at the last moment, he ducked away — but the powder was already airborne!

Why did he have to move at that exact moment — not a second earlier or later?

The twins could only watch helplessly as their thrown Jumping Powder traced a beautiful crossing pattern in the air before flying straight toward each other's heads.

"Hiss... hiss..."

"Scratch... scratch... scratch..."

Sharp gasping sounds and frantic hair-scratching drew everyone's attention. They all turned toward the commotion.

There stood Fred and George, scratching their heads wildly like agitated baboons.

Their already-disheveled hair now looked worse than a chicken coop. Even the Sorting Hat would have appeared more presentable.

"Oh, Fred, George, what mischief are you up to now!" Molly's face flushed red at the passersby's strange looks. She marched over, grabbed each twin by the ear, and steered them toward a nearby alley.

At least there would be fewer witnesses there — unlike here on Diagon Alley's main street, where her sons were putting on their impromptu baboon performance.

By Merlin's beard! At this rate, the Weasley family's centuries-old reputation would be in tatters!

Molly's actions were decisive, but the twins bore the consequences. Their gasping grew louder, and Kyle noticed what looked like tears in their eyes — in identical spots, no less.

As Mrs. Weasley marched the twins away, Arthur breathed a visible sigh of relief. Fighting his embarrassment, he urged everyone to continue shopping, insisting there was no need to wait.

Kyle hung back beside Ron, struggling to contain his laughter. When he caught his mother's gaze, however, his amusement vanished. He managed only an awkward, polite smile.

Diana was perfect in every way — except for her uncannily sharp intuition. Since childhood, Kyle had never managed to hide anything from her.

He considered himself lucky that he had transmigrated five or six months before she gave birth to him. Otherwise, Kyle was certain she would have discovered his true identity long ago.

'Really...' He scratched his head, 'With a mother like this, there's absolutely no privacy.'

Diana merely gave her son a warning look before turning away.

The incident wasn't actually serious — Molly was simply being overprotective.

The twins' reputation as troublemakers at Hogwarts had spread through student gossip throughout the magical world — even Diana had heard the tales.

Their known exploits included blowing up toilet seats, stuffing Mrs. Norris in a sack during nighttime wanderings, planting dungbombs under Slytherin first-years' seats, and falsely accusing them of soiling themselves in class — and these were just the incidents that had come to light.

Compared to these escapades, imitating baboons in the street seemed rather tame.

Most onlookers would laugh it off — it wouldn't tarnish the Weasley family's reputation. (Except, perhaps, in the eyes of certain unnamed pure-blood families with platinum blonde hair.)

Molly's intense reaction stemmed from her struggle to adjust to the twins' behavior.

Bill, Charlie, and Percy had all been exemplary children, and she unconsciously held the twins to these standards. Though the twins' behavior differed completely from their brothers', such expectations weren't easily abandoned.

True, Bill and Charlie hadn't been perfectly behaved at home or when starting school, but they had ultimately become outstanding Hogwarts students.

To understand Molly's perspective, one need only imagine proper Percy imitating a baboon in the street.

This situation would prove temporary. After a year or two of Hogwarts reports, Mrs. Weasley would gradually adapt.

When similar incidents occurred in the future, she would handle them with more composure.

Shortly after this small incident, the group split up.

Since Ron and Ginny weren't old enough for school yet, the Weasley family only needed to buy new textbooks for the twins and Percy. Kyle, however, was a new student with many items to purchase — and his wand would be the most important acquisition.

No need for directions — he expertly navigated through Diagon Alley and quickly found his destination.

That small, shabby shop.

Ollivanders: Makers of Fine Wands since 382 B.C.

Standing at the entrance, Kyle felt speechless every time he came here.

The place was absolutely dilapidated — dust on the windows thick enough to sculpt with. Did all wizards share such a fondness for antiquity?

Yet Gringotts and the Broom Shop looked fine, both clean and attractive.

Perhaps it was the confidence that came with having a monopoly — knowing customers would come regardless of appearances?

But then again, Gringotts was also a monopoly...

Kyle had pondered this mystery for ages, even consulting Chris and Arthur, but found no answer. Standing here now, he could only shrug and attribute it to artisan eccentricity.

Asking Ollivander directly was out of the question — far too offensive. After all, he was Britain's most renowned wandmaker, and maintaining good relations was crucial.

Still, Ron would be starting school next year. Perhaps Kyle could discuss with the twins about tricking… er, asking their youngest brother to help investigate the matter.

Don't say he's betraying a friend.

He's just using Ron Weasley — what does that have to do with his dear friends' brother, Ronald Weasley?
