Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Jing Shaoyu and Na'er.

Aolai City is a small city located on the coast of the East China Sea in the Douluo Continent. With a population of only 100,000 people and an area of only 500 square kilometers. It is a very inconspicuous place under the jurisdiction of the Sun-Moon Federation.

Inside the Aolai City Federal Orphanage, a six-year-old boy was sitting on the doorstep, staring blankly at the birds flying in the distance. He didn't even respond to the call from the Director of the orphanage behind him.

"Ayu, what are you looking at? It's time to eat!" Jing Ziyuan, the director of the orphanage, was a middle-aged woman in her forties with a pretty and kind face. She walked to the boy with a helpless smile on her face and asked softly.

"Mom, tell me, why can birds fly?" The boy turned around, looked at the dean's face, and asked in an innocent voice full of curiosity.

"Because birds have wings!" The dean named Jing Ziyuan smiled slightly, touched the boy's head and replied.

"Is that so?" The boy's clear eyes flashed with confusion. He asked, "Then can we fly if we have wings?"

"Yes, you can fly as long as you have wings!" Jing Ziyuan answered patiently.

"What if it's a very big car? Can it fly if it has wings?" the boy asked relentlessly, with more and more doubt on his face.

"About that, Mom doesn't know either." Jing Ziyuan smiled helplessly. Faced with the strange questions the boy would ask from time to time, she sometimes really wanted to get angry, but every time she saw the boy's innocent and curious eyes, she couldn't get angry at all.

"Okay!" The boy lowered his head in disappointment after hearing that. Somehow, in the past few months, the boy had always had some strange dreams, which made him feel very weird and nostalgic.

"Ayu, if you don't come to eat, the food will be eaten by Naer alone!" At this moment, Aunt Lin Xin, the only employee of the orphanage, reminded again.

"No way, Naer will never eat her brother's rice!" A girl who looked a little younger than the boy retorted, holding up a rice spoon.

"Okay, Ayu, let's go and eat." Jing Ziyuan picked up the boy from the threshold, put him on the ground, and said.

"Oh, let's eat." The boy stopped thinking about the previous question and immediately ran to the restaurant with Jing Ziyuan, shouting as he ran, "Na'er, here I come!"

The boy's name is Jing Shaoyu, and he is one of the only two children in the Aolai City Federal Orphanage.

Why are there only two children in the orphanage?

Because this is an orphanage that was going to be closed down. If it weren't for Jing Shaoyu, this orphanage would have been closed down six years ago.

Jing Shaoyu was a hero who successfully prevented the orphanage from being closed down. He was picked up by the director Jing Ziyuan on the beach. He was less than one year old when he was picked up, and he had only a green quilt on him. Apart from that, he had nothing to prove his identity.

Jing Ziyuan went to the Aolai City Administrative Office to report but did not find any information about him. In desperation, Jing Ziyuan had to take him back to the Federal Orphanage that was about to be closed. After waiting for half a year and still recieving no news, Jing Ziyuan decided to adopt him and named him Jing Shaoyu.

As for the Aolai City Federal Orphanage, although it temporarily canceled its decision to close it after Jing Ziyuan's strenuous request, it was only this decision that was canceled, and other matters remained unchanged.

So, in a sense, the Aolai City Federal Orphanage is an orphanage specially opened for Jing Shaoyu.

Ahem, it's a bit like hell.

The situation of only one child in the orphanage lasted until Jing Shaoyu was four years old. Why?

Because Jing Shaoyu picked up a child, Naer, while playing at the beach. Naer was only three years old when she was picked up by Jing Shaoyu. She seemed to have lost her memory. She didn't remember anything except her name.

Jing Shaoyu brought her back to the orphanage. Jing Ziyuan was very surprised to see Jing Shaoyu bringing back a girl. When she learned that the girl was picked up by Jing Shaoyu at the beach, Jing Ziyuan was speechless. She thought Naer was a lost child in the city, so she took Naer to the Administrative Office.

Needless to say, there was no information or record of Naer in the administrative department. Jing Ziyuan had no choice but to leave Naer in the orphanage temporarily, and this stay lasted for two years.

Arriving at the restaurant, Jing Shaoyu sat down next to Na'er. Na'er happily handed the chicken leg in her hand to Jing Shaoyu and said tenderly, "Brother, the chicken leg tonight is also delicious, come and try it!"

Na'er was a very delicate girl with a very rare short silver hair, which sparkled in the sunset. Her eyes were big, and her pupils were like two clear amethysts. Even at a distance, one could still see one's reflection in her pupils. Her long eyelashes naturally curled upwards. Her skin was white and tender, as if water could be squeezed out with a light pinch. She exuded a fresh and light fragrance and was as delicate as a porcelain doll, which was very lovable.

"Okay." Jing Shaoyu held Na'er's hand holding the chicken leg and took a bite of the part where Na'er had eaten, although it was still stained with Na'er's saliva. Sure enough, the chicken leg was delicious, and his eyes lit up as he said, "Really!"

"Hehe, right? Naer's taste is the same as her brother's!" Naer laughed happily when Jing Shaoyu agreed with her.

"Okay, you two, don't be so brotherly and sisterly. It's not like there's only one chicken leg." Jing Ziyuan sat at the dining table and said to the two children, "Ayu, don't eat your sister's chicken leg. Isn't there one in your bowl?"

"No, no, I want to eat with my brother!" After hearing Jing Ziyuan's words, before Jing Shaoyu could answer, Na'er rushed to object. She hugged Jing Shaoyu's arm and shouted coquettishly.

"This child... is really..." Jing Ziyuan was speechless when she heard this. "I don't know what to say."

"Haha, the children have a good relationship. Isn't that a good thing?" Aunt Lin Xin said with a smile.

After dinner, Jing Shaoyu took Naer to play in the yard, while Jing Ziyuan and Lin Xin were cleaning up the dishes.

After the two of them finished cleaning up the dishes, they brought the two children playing in the yard into the house and washed them.

"Ayu, Naer, who of you two is going to take a bath first?" Jing Ziyuan asked the two children while standing in front of the bathroom.

"I want to take a shower with my brother!" Na'er hugged Jing Shaoyu's arm and looked at Jing Ziyuan pitifully.

"No, Mom can only wash one child at a time!" Jing Ziyuan decisively rejected Naer's request. She had a stern face and looked ruthless.

"Okay, then brother will wash first." Naer compromised, but her big eyes rolled around, and it was obvious that she was planning something bad.

However, Jing Ziyuan had already seen through her little trick. She just found it a little funny and said loudly, "Don't think I don't know what you are up to. I will let Aunt Lin Xin watch you. Don't even think about running into the bathroom halfway!"

"Ah!" Naer's little thoughts were exposed, and she was immediately like a defeated swan, dejected, and was pulled away by Aunt Lin Xin.

Jing Ziyuan took Jing Shaoyu into the bathroom. Jing Shaoyu took off all his clothes and jumped into the bathtub. He sat down obediently and let Jing Ziyuan help him wash his body.

"Ayu, after you awaken your martial spirit tomorrow, you can no longer let your mother help you take a bath. You have to take a bath by yourself. Do you understand?" Jing Ziyuan said.

"Yes, I know, Mom." Jing Shaoyu nodded, with an expectant look on his face, and asked Jing Ziyuan, "Mom, what do you think my martial soul will be? Will it be the same as mom's, also blue silver grass?"

There was a hint of expectation in the boy's voice, but Jing Ziyuan couldn't help but smile bitterly when she heard this.

"If that happens, Mom will be very sad."

"Why?" The boy looked at his mother in confusion.

"Because mom hopes that Ayu can become a powerful spirit master. If Ayu's spirit is blue silver grass, then he won't be able to become a powerful spirit master."

"Why can't the Blue Silver Grass Martial Soul become a powerful soul master?" Jing Shaoyu was confused.

Jing Ziyuan didn't know how to explain it to this ignorant child because only those whose martial soul was Blue Silver Grass could understand the difficulty of this martial soul, and other people simply couldn't understand it.

"Haha!" Jing Ziyuan smiled bitterly and said nothing.
