Late at night.
On the bed in the orphanage, Shaoyu was sleeping with a pale face and a painful expression. His little body kept turning over and over, as if he had had a terrible dream, as if something terrifying was chasing him in the dream.
His forehead and shirt were covered in sweat. Suddenly, his eyes opened abruptly, his pupils dilated violently, as he sat up with a start, heaving, as he gasped for breath.
"Brother, what's wrong with you?" Na'er beside him was awakened by Shaoyu's movement. The little girl sat up, rubbed her sleepy eyes, and asked in a drowsy manner.
"It's nothing, just a dream." Shaoyu turned to the little girl and said, reaching out to help her lie down, and then he lay down again, "Go to sleep, it's okay."
"Oh!" The little girl muttered, hugged her brother, closed her eyes, and fell asleep after a while.
Listening to Na'er's soft breaths, Shaoyu relaxed, but couldn't fall asleep.
"Who am I?" He stared at the dark sky with his eyes wide open, his mind was a risotto of meshed memories. "Am I Jing Shaoyu? Or someone else?"
His eyes were empty as he stared blankly upwards. His head was filled with chaotic thoughts, making him dizzy and exhausted. Before he knew it, he had lost consciousness. He was not just asleep, he was in a coma.
The next morning, Jing Shaoyu woke up to Na'er's sweet call. The first thing he did when he woke up was to touch his body and his head. After confirming that there was nothing wrong with his body and head, he breathed a sigh of relief.
"Brother, what are you doing?" Na'er asked puzzledly with curious eyes as they sparkled like a pair of amethysts.
"It's okay." Jing Shaoyu showed a happy smile from the bottom of his heart and said to Na'er, "Let's go, let's go wash up."
"Oh!" Na'er nodded. She felt that her brother was acting a little strange today, but she couldn't place a finger on the strangeness. It was really strange... Na'er touched her little head in confusion and wonder.
"Why did I have to be the one with the short end of the stick?" Jing Shaoyu held Na'er's hand and walked towards the bathroom. He lowered his head, his eyes were a little dazed, and he was shouting in anger in his heart, "I was allowed to travel through time? Why can't I be allowed to travel to a more awesome world? Why do I have to travel to this Douluo Continent? Even if I can travel to the Douluo Continent, why don't I go to an earlier era? Instead, I was allowed to travel to this era that has become the Tang Family Continent. Aren't they kidding me?!"
Jing Shaoyu felt like crying but had no tears.
Sometimes, awakening the memories of past lives is not a happy thing because it allows you to know the future and direction of some worlds in advance, and thus, you lose hope in this world, just like Jing Shaoyu.
When he woke up in the morning, he realized where he was and what would happen in the future. He had undoubtedly been involved in the great ten-thousand-year plan of the selfless, righteous and kind-hearted God King Tang. There was no need to doubt this; after all, the Tang Continent was not a name for nothing.
Jing Shaoyu can only pray that his martial spirit is not too bad and that he will have some ability to protect himself in the future, at least so that he can protect his mother, Jing Ziyuan and Aunt Lin Xin.
However, Jing Shaoyu's gaze fell unnaturally on the little girl beside him. Na'er seemed to feel Jing Shaoyu's gaze and turned her head to look at him. An innocent smile appeared on her delicate little face, and she called out sweetly, "Brother, what's wrong?"
"It's okay, I just want to see more of my cute little Na'er." Jing Shaoyu said with a smile.
"Hehe, Naer also wants to see more of my cute brother," Naer said with a smile.
"Uh~" Jing Shaoyu's face darkened when he heard Na'er use the word cute to describe him. He said helplessly, "Na'er, my brother is a boy. Boys cannot be described as cute. They should be described as cool, handsome or dashing."
"Hehe, okay, Na'er got it," Naer answered obediently.
Could Na'er be the Silver Dragon King's personality clone? But why did he meet her and bring her back? What about Tang Wulin? Or did something happen between him and the orphanage that caused Na'er to wander again and then be met by Tang Wulin?
Jing Shaoyu couldn't help but feel distressed and get a throbbing headache.
It's not that he thinks too much; it's because this is the Tang Family Continent. You don't know the extent they will go to achieve their goals! To calculate the son of luck, the Tang God King can use his OWN DAUGHTER, let alone these unrelated mortal people? Coming to the bathroom, Jing Shaoyu first brushed his teeth and washed his face, then waited for Na'er to wash her face and brush her teeth, then picked up the wooden comb on the shelf and began to comb Na'er's hair.
I have to say that combing a girl's hair is indeed something which makes it very easy to win her favor. In the past six months, Jing Shaoyu has been combing Na'er's hair. Every time he combs Na'er's hair, it is the quietest time for the two of them, other than when they are asleep.
By the time Jing Shaoyu had combed Naer's short silver hair neatly, it was time for Jing Ziyuan to come and call them for breakfast.
The breakfast at the orphanage is simple, with boiled eggs, some steamed buns and rice porridge, all in all-you-can-eat portions.
Jing Shaoyu looked at the peeled eggs and felt a little disillusioned for a moment. Are there any chickens that lay eggs in the Douluo Continent? Will the chickens that lay eggs mutate? For example, they may mutate into evil fire or something and eventually become phoenixes hehe~
"Ayu, why are you staring at the eggs and laughing at them when you're not eating?" Jing Ziyuan asked, looking at Jing Shaoyu, who was smiling foolishly at the egg in his hand.
"Mom, what kind of chicken laid these eggs?" Jing Shaoyu stopped smiling and asked Jing Ziyuan.
"Of course, they're laid by chickens." Jing Ziyuan said in confusion, but then she realized what Jing Shaoyu wanted to ask, so she added, "The eggs in our orphanage are all distributed by the Administrative Office. They are a form of welfare for us public officials. These are generally from ten-year-old white-feathered chickens, and their nutritional value is much higher than ordinary eggs on the market."
"A ten-year-old white-feathered chicken, which is also a soul beast?" Jing Shaoyu's eyes lit up when he heard this, and he continued to ask.
"They technically are soul beasts, although most white-feathered chickens can't live more than ten years." Jing Ziyuan said with a smile, "Okay, let's eat quickly. After eating, I will take you to awaken your martial soul."
"Oh, okay!" Upon hearing this, Jing Shaoyu immediately forgot about the matter of the eggs. His mind was completely attracted by the subsequent awakening of his martial soul, and he began to eat quickly.
"Mom, can I go with my brother?" Na'er looked at Jing Ziyuan, her little face full of anticipation, and asked.
"No, Na'er wants to stay and look after the house with Aunt Lin Xin." Jing Ziyuan decisively rejected Na'er's request.
"Ah! Why?" Na'er was very reluctant and looked at Jing Ziyuan angrily, pouting, "Mom is partial!"
Na'er's cuteness did not change Jing Ziyuan's mind. Even after breakfast, Na'er was still angry, grabbing the corner of Jing Shaoyu's clothes with one hand, preventing him from leaving.
"Na'er, be good, don't be angry," Jing Shaoyu had to comfort the little ancestor first. He coaxed her lovingly, "Wait for brother to come back and bring you some candied haws, okay?"
"No!" Na'er refused and looked at him pitifully with her two big, sparkly eyes, which defeated Jing Shaoyu instantly. Ever since Na'er joined the orphanage, Jing Shaoyu's immunity to Na'er's trick of cuteness has been zero, even now.
Jing Shaoyu couldn't deal with Na'er, but Jing Ziyuan could. Jing Ziyuan brought the car out of the yard, parked it next to Jing Shaoyu, and then picked up Na'er directly. With Na'er's very reluctant expression, she handed her to Aunt Lin Xin.
"Ayu, get in the car. Let's go." Jing Ziyuan walked to the car, patted the dazed Jing Shaoyu, and said.
"Oh, oh!" Jing Shaoyu woke up in shock, nodded quickly and agreed, then sat on the back seat of Jing Ziyuan's car.
That's right, a car without oil. He actually saw an electric... no a soul power car on the Douluo Continent. Isn't this too dreamy?
However, considering that there are cars and trains in this era, it is not particularly strange to also have planes, right?
Jing Ziyuan rode Jing Shaoyu out of the orphanage gate. Jing Shaoyu looked back and saw Aunt Lin Xin holding Na'er standing at the door, saying goodbye to them.
"Na'er, don't worry, I will bring you candied haws!" Jing Shaoyu poked his head out of the window and waved at Na'er.
