"No, you are not!" Sougo denied.
He wanted to defeat the Demon King, but he was clearly no match for him.
After the masked man repelled Sougo's attacks, he spoke lightly, "Don't worry, you'll gain more powerful power in the near future. That is the true power of the Demon King!"
"Shut up!" Sougo shouted in anger, his fists clenching. He didn't want to be the type of Demon King the masked man described.
"Are you going against your own will? That's proof of your worth as a king!" the masked man taunted.
"Shut up!" Sougo shouted again, continuing his attacks. But all of his efforts were in vain. Every strike was effortlessly deflected.
Sougo fell to the ground with a loud thud, unable to contain his frustration. "Why?" he cried out, his voice filled with despair.
The masked man's voice was calm and condescending. "If you hate being a Demon King so much, I'll teach you a simple solution. Throw away that belt."
"Throw away this belt?!" Sougo's face changed, his expression full of disbelief.
He hesitated. Of course, he was reluctant. After all, this belt granted him immense power—it was the key to making him strong and allowing him to help others.
The masked man continued, "If you throw away this belt, you'll never become like me. You'll no longer be bound by this cursed power."
"If you discard it, you won't become a demon king, and the world won't be destroyed."
Sougo stood there, conflicted, as the masked man spoke those words. "Young me, what kind of future will you choose? I'm looking forward to it."
After that, Sougo and his partner traveled back to 2018.
Sougo gazed up at the Great Demon Machine, his eyes filled with curiosity and concern.
"How powerful is that thing, and how long until it destroys the world?" he asked.
Tsukuyomi looked at him, a grave expression on her face. "I remember that this thing appeared just a few months ago..."
"That fast?" Sougo said, his eyes widening in surprise.
He glanced at the belt in his hand, deep in thought. Could he truly give it up? Was it worth the sacrifice to avoid becoming what he feared most?
Meanwhile, on the other side, Jiachen knocked Gates to the ground.
He didn't stop, continuing to attack with relentless force.
At that moment, Sougo and his partner appeared on the scene.
Tsukuyomi intervened, knocking Jiachen's attack aside.
Gates, seeing the situation unfold, spoke with a hint of annoyance, "Don't come over here. I told you, I don't need your help!"
"I sent him here," Sougo said calmly.
Jiachen, upon hearing this, turned around and bowed slightly to Sougo. "Your Majesty the Demon King," he said, his tone respectful.
Sougo, his resolve finally firm, turned toward Gates. "Gates, destroy my belt."
He had made up his mind.
Although he had always longed to be a demon king, Sougo realized that he didn't want to be one who destroyed the world. He wanted to be a demon king who saved the world—someone who fought for peace, not for destruction.
Gates stared at Sougo, confused. "Sougo, are you sure about this?"
Sougo nodded, his face serious. "Yes, I've figured it out. I'm Oma Zi-O, but I'm not the kind of demon king who brings destruction. I will destroy this belt to save the world!"
The audience watching from the Three Realms was stunned.
"What? Is Sougo really going to destroy his belt?"
"This belt gives him immense power! Can he really give it up?"
"I never expected the story to take this turn."
"I think it's over. The story might end now."
"I agree! This is an unexpected twist!"
The Extraordinary Chat Group buzzed with activity at the sudden development.
March Seven: "No way, is Sougo really going to destroy his belt?"
Fu Xuan: "I can't believe it. This is a source of incredible power. If he loses it, he'll be just an ordinary person. Can Sougo really bear it?"
Jizi: "He hasn't even become the Demon King yet!"
Raiden Mei: "If he doesn't destroy the belt, he won't become a demon king. But if he does this, won't it be such a pity?"
Kiana: "Yes, but I truly admire Sougo for making this decision."
Charlotte: "I knew it—he's kind and benevolent!"
Ganyu: "You're so bold, Sougo."
Otto: "Ah, Sougo, you can't give up becoming the Demon King. I want to see you become the Demon King!"
Otto was clearly disappointed, as he had always supported Sougo's desire to become the Demon King. He had resonated with Sougo's ambitions, but now, watching him give it all up, Otto couldn't hide his frustration.
In the picture, Tsukuyomi was stunned. Her voice was shaky as she spoke. "Sougo..."
She couldn't believe what she was witnessing. Was he really going to give up everything for the sake of the world?
Gates stood there, equally shocked. "What did you say?"
A trace of sorrow flashed across Sougo's eyes. Even his voice quivered slightly as he spoke, "I've given up on becoming the king."
Gates stood frozen, his disbelief apparent. "Sougo!"
For anyone, the opportunity to become a knight and wield such power was a dream. Who would willingly give that up?
Sougo's expression was filled with inner conflict, but he pushed through. "Stop talking nonsense. Hurry up, Gates! Lest I regret it later!"
Jiachen, watching the scene unfold, warned Sougo urgently, "Your Majesty the Demon King, please don't be impulsive. Don't do something you'll regret!"
But Sougo didn't listen. He took the belt and threw it into the air without hesitation.
Gates, understanding the gravity of the moment, knew that this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. If they missed it now, there might never be another chance.
Without wasting any more time, he shouted, "The end time!"
"Witch Knight, Ice Flame Shooting!"
A powerful ice attack shot out from Gates, freezing the belt instantly.
With a deafening thud, the belt shattered into nothingness, reduced to powder.
The barrage of comments from the audience exploded at that moment.
"F**k! It's really destroyed!"
"This story is giving me whiplash!"
"I was looking forward to seeing Sougo become the Demon King, but now… is that it?"
"Yeah, I think it's a huge loss. Didn't Sougo always want to be the Demon King?"
"Now, why did he give up so easily?"
"Alas, he's too kind-hearted."
"Sougo is so righteous. He'd rather sacrifice himself than let the world be destroyed. I really admire him for that."
Back in the picture, Tsukuyomi and the others stood in stunned silence, staring at the sky above them. They were still processing the fact that Sougo's belt had been destroyed in an instant.
Gates looked on with a complicated expression. Though he didn't want Sougo to become a demon king, seeing him lose his power made him feel strangely unsettled.
Tsukuyomi, too, was struggling with her emotions. She knew how much Sougo had dreamed of becoming a knight. He wanted to save the world. But now, it seemed that dream might never come to fruition.
Jiachen, watching all this unfold, was even more shocked. He had always known that Sougo was destined to become a demon king. But now, history seemed to be changing. Could things ever return to the way they were?
