Chapter 5 - A world beyond Memory (Part 1)

The sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky in shades of crimson and violet. Elias's heart pounded as the reality of their situation settled in. Beside him, Lira trembled, her fingers clutching his sleeve like a lifeline.

"Do you know me?"Her voice was desperate, raw.

"Tell me who I am!"

Elias swallowed hard. He didn't have answers—only fragments of a past that she couldn't recall. But he couldn't let her drown in fear. Gripping her shoulders, he steadied his voice.

"You're Lira, My sister,And we… we're not on Earth anymore we somehow got teleported here, and this is not earth."

Her breath hitched. Tears spilled over, but before she could protest, Elias noticed bears eating the intestine of a dead person who looked to be in his 50's ,the bear and the corpse were 2 km away from the small hill, Elias told lira who couldnt get a grasp on reality "Get on my back quick !, We need to move."

The road was rough, worn by time and unseen travelers. Elias carried Lira for what felt like hours, his muscles burning, his throat parched. Then—a well. Fresh water. He nearly collapsed in relief, gulping down the cool liquid before remembering Lira.

But when he turned, her gaze was fixed beyond him—locked onto something impossible.

A wall.

Not just any wall. A monstrous barrier of stone, stretching farther than the eye could see, its surface etched with strange, glowing runes. And at its base, a gate.

"People!!!,"Elias breathed.

A line of weary figures waited under the watch of armored guards. Humans.

Hope surged through him. They weren't alone.

The gate creaked open as they approached. A guard eyed their unfamiliar clothes, his expression unreadable. "State your business."

Elias hesitated. "Uhh .. you might not believe us but We're… from aanother world called Earth."

The guard's lips thinned ,he spoke in a concered voice"Oh how Unfortunate."He gestured to a register. "Names And uhh—do you remember?"

"Uhh what?" Elias questioned him and nodded that he does remember .

The guard's eyes flickered with something—pity? —before he waved them through. He shouted "Welcome to Eldoria."

---

The city before them was like a puzzle. Crumbling buildings stood beside towering spires. Lanterns flickered to life as night fell, casting eerie shadows. Lira, half-asleep on Elias's back, murmured at the sight of a colossal tree in the distance—its branches glowing an eerie blue.

Elias barely had time to marvel before a sign caught his eye:

"TRAVELER'S GUIDE – OTHERWORLDLY REFUGE"

Beneath the foreign script, English letters spelled salvation.

---

Inside, a woman with sharp eyes and a warmer smile greeted them.

"I am Emily",she introduced herself. Elias introduced himself "I'm Elias"

"You're a Transcender, thats rare."

Elias blinked. "Transcenders?"

Emily sighed, as if she'd explained this too many times. "Most who come here lose their memories in exchange for powers they are called travellers. You didn't, That makes you a Transcender, your valuable."

"Power?"Elias's questioned her .

"You can go to the city centre for basic survival training, there they will teach you about it"she replied .

Emily informed that this place is owned by the king and he has made sure to take care of travellers or Transcenders.

Emily then told them to

. "Rest tonight. Tomorrow, you'll learn why this world is hell."

The room was sparse but clean. Lira collapsed onto the cot, asleep before her head hit the pillow. Elias slumped beside her, exhaustion dragging at his bones.

Beyond the window, the glowing tree pulsed softly.

Somewhere in the darkness, something howled.

Elias clenched his fists.

"What have we gotten into?"

*And went into a deep slumber*
