Chapter 5 - The great escape

__________

Soul and controllable weapons

Soul weapons are unbreakable (unless the mentality of the user is damaged) weapons that can be summoned without the usage of essence if summoned once. Controllable weapons have to be created with essence and then be manipulated to move. The three manipulation types being; with hands, with eyes and with mind.

The night sky was lit up with all the lanterns running around making it hard to see the stars. The constant shouting and bell sounds were not helping people sleep either. Guards from all over the territory kept checking each and every corner of the village the Flameberg Manor was located in. There were no signs of the young lady anywhere, not even a light purple hair piece dropped on the ground to go off of. This was supposed to be a really big day as it was the day the heirship of Enidia would be transferred to Evelyn. Though, a minor problem had arised, hindering the ceremony. The cause of the minor problem being Cyeen and the problem being her not being anywhere. She had finally came through with her plans. For a free life and a self learning experience. Being free of nobility couldn't and wouldn't do herself any harm she thought. Cyeen looked at the north star. She decided on following it as she had remembered something she read in a book before. People back in the days usually built settlements to the north of another to keep a steady path going to each place. Cyeen took one last look at the village and the manor before turning her back.

It was a quiet night. Cyeen was still in her room, refusing to come out. Maybe Zenith had been a little harsh towards her. But a week inside that little room was sure enough to drive anyone insane. It can't be healthy, she thought. Cyeen was still a rebellious teen, she was sure to experince mood swings, she'd probably forgive her mother at the end of the week and they would go back to their usual family dynamic. She had heard news of what happened from the maid that stopped Cyeen from banging her head on the walls in the bathroom. She had gotten a little worried for her then. Though a bit extreme, it was a sign of rebellion and a clear signal that she was seeking attention. Her actions only showed her incompetence to lead Enidia. Zenith was sure Cyeen would drive the place into ruin. For some strange reason the conversation between her and her other child Evelyn had been awkward ever since Cyeen had her upbringing. The air inside the manor felt tenser than usual as well. This further proved that Cyeen wasn't fit to wear the title of duchess. But all things aside she wanted Cyeen outside of her room again. She had to do all of the 'important' papers she assigned her by herself. Zenith went upstairs to knock on her daughter's door. As she knocked on the door she told Cyeen to come out in a monotone voice. Upon receiving no reaction from the young lady inside, she raised her voice and told Cyeen to come out this instant. After not getting an answer again she decided to break open the lock with mainly brute force and a little bit of luck. It took her approximately three minutes to 'unlock' the door. What she saw in her field of vision was an empty room and an open window with winds blowing the curtains towards the inside of the room. Cyeen was nowhere to be seen.

"So; a scythe, some knives, blasters and strings are what I'm going to be working with for a while."

Cyeen said to the squirrel on top of the tree with her whole essence arsenal laid out in front of her. The animal didn't look that pleased. Cyeen had took basic fighting lessons when she was younger allowing her to learn the basics to a fight in case something happened on her way to freedom. She had set up a temporary base inside the forest close to Enidia. Though, it could hardly be called a base. She had gathered some wild berries from the bushes close by, used a piece of cloth she bought to make a makeshift tent (it looked horrible) and had managed to find a bag along the way. She was still wearing the white fancy outfit she wore at her house meaning she was most likely to be spotted among the green vegetation. She of course hadn't thought of that and didn't buy a new outfit in the vilage of Enidia. It had been nearly a day since she escaped from her house, as surprising as it is, she hadn't heard the voice for the same amount of time. For her, this meant that she was on the right path. She stuck her head out of the 'tent', took a look around and went back inside to sleep, she was feeling a little hungry but that was a topic for tomorrow.

Cyeen woke up to a bit of a commotion. It sounded like two wild animals were fighting. If she was lucky maybe she could get the meat of the loser. Cyeen tiptoed towards the sounds, trying to make as little noise as possible. Soon, she arrived to the source of the sound. She stuck her head out of the bushes to see that it indeed was what she thought of. Two male deers were fighting over a female deer in an open area. The deers were getting covered in more blood as they tried to stab each other with their antlers. Cyeen quietly watched the fight with a purple knife ready in her hand. She waited patiently and when the two males fell really weak she threw the knife directly to the head of the most likely to lose deer. She completely missed the target. The deers startled by the noise tried escaping. One of the deers had managed to run away into the woods but the one Cyeen targeted fell down before if could reach safety as he took too many blows from the other deer. Cyeen slowly walked to the deer on the ground, the poor animal didn't have any strength left. She summoned her scythe, held it up as one would do with an axe and lodged it into the neck of the deer. That was her first kill. She slowly started dragging it back to her base in front of the eyes of the traumatized female deer.

She had no idea on how to clean the insides of a deer. More than half of the meat was wasted by her trying to skin the animal. After she was done with the deer she left the remains of it near her base and got to creating a fire. She painstakingly tried creating fire from what she could find which took her about two hours before the fire was even ready to cook the meat. After preparing the fire, Cyeen tossed the meats directly on top of the fire. And after a while had passed,

"... I burned it..."

She looked at the coal she created in disbelief and hunger. She summoned another knife to carve the outside of the steak-ish meat. It tasted disgusting but it was all she had, her berry stock was quick to run out and she was utterly horrible at hunting. "It wasn't supposed to be this hard, I have read books where people had to live in tents like mine." she thought to herself. Maybe it was time to go into the nearest village. As Cyeen came close to finishing her disgusting lunch she remembered a lake she found on her way to the deers which could help her take a look at herself. She began making her way towards it as soon as her meal was finished. The young lady stood near the still water as she stared at the reflection. Her dress was torn up in all sorts of places and she had deer blood all over her. Her form disgusted her for a second, she had never seen someone this dirty in her life. With a quick -and dumb- decision she decided to enter the lake with clothes on. As she swam around the cold water she tried her hardest to wash off the blood on her outfit. The process took nearly an hour and yet it wasn't enough to wash even sixty percent of the blood and she soon gave up. The lake did not have any of the luxurious cleaning materials she had back home. It frustrated her to be this dirty but she promised herself she'd settle down in a nearby village soon, take baths regularly and live the rest of her life there in quiet. Maybe she'd get married to a knight who was visiting the town or go adventuring from time to time to spend her time. Even dreaming of these filled her up with the sense freedom. It had been a while since the last time she was ordered around by Zenith. Just this alone made her life ten times better. She started pondering about why the commoners all ranted about their daily lives while drying up near the lake, as she was sitting on top of a flat rock.

She didn't take into account how slow clothes would dry while they were being worn which costed her about three to four hours causing her to return to her base late at night. It was time to retry cooking the deer meat. She had been keeping some of the meat for later since she figured she'd get hungry more than once a day. After her failure to create fire the first time, she had managed to pick up a few things up and lit it up faster this time. It took about an hour. Still an improvement though, she thought. After carefully picking the deer meat up with the purple strings she summoned on her fingertips, she got to cooking it. Cyeen got her lesson last time so she pulled the strings that wrappes around the meat back after a short while and hung it on a wide branch before kicking dirt onto the fire to extinguish it. Her mouth had started watering by now. She finally grabbed the strings holding the cooked steak, de-summoned the strings and took a bite.

"...It's mostly raw..."

With a slight blood taste in her mouth, she looked over to the extinguished fire in shame. It still had enough heat to cook the insides a little more but that was not something Cyeen knew. She ate her dinner as it was. It was still horrible. With plans to stay at a village tomorrow, she slowly drifted asleep.

A guard from Enidia had stumbled upon a large forest on his search for the oldest daughter of Duchess Zenith. He'd rack a ton of money or even a promotion as a reward for finding her. While walking around aimlessly, a piece of shiny white cloth on a bush got his attention. It was most likely the part of an expensive outfit that was ripped apart by the small thorns on the bush, which meant it was most likely to belong to the rebellious teen of Enidia. The second thing that got his attention was the blood stain on the dirt. Something had been dragged across the woods. He followed the blood stains and passed by a lake while doing so. At last he arrived in a mostly empty circle surrounded by trees. There was a huge blood puddle close to the center of the place. What the hell had happened here? He thought as he took a look around but couldn't find anything else inside the circle. Trying to find more clues, the guard decided on following the blood stain to the other end. While on the way, he found another piece of shiny white cloth on a bush. What seperated this one from the first he saw was; this time, it was died red.
