"No, I don't want to go!" Blue refusing to get up, despite Aurora's verbal and physical insistence. "Do you know what I want, instead?" she asked
"No, Blue, I don't know. What do you want?" Aurora asked, feeling close to frustration
"Another bottle and a hot guy, or maybe a hot guy and another bottle" Blue then cocked her head to the side and scrunched up her face as if in thought, before adding, "I don't know in what particular other though, maybe we should ask that hot guy!" she shouted all of a sudden pointing at Jeremy, who was finding her display entirely amusing and somewhat cute.
"Jeremy," Aurora was saying
"That's hottie's name?" Blue interrupted to ask, sounding gleeful. Jeremy and Kim were full out laughing at this point.
Aurora looked unimpressed with both Blue and the two guffawing, mainly Jeremy was guffawing while Kim laughed silently, at the kitchen table, "Jeremy please get Anderson to come carry his girl home"
Anderson, who at the moment happen to be taking the humor level through the roofs in the living room, is Blue's boyfriend of over eight months.
"I do like a drunk Blue" Jeremy said chuckling as he downed another glass (maybe his eight or ninth glass tonight, he wasn't keeping count), "Maybe I should be around her more whenever there is alcohol involved"
Kim who had long since stopped crying, laughed at what Jeremy said, even as they watched Aurora still struggling with Blue.
"Jeremy, please" Aurora said fixing him a serious look, "Now"
"Yes, ma'am" he said, immediately dropping his glass to go get Anderson.
Jeremy Manx might be the official Captain or leader of the small group of space workers but Aurora was the unofficial elder sister or mama of the group. She had this way about her that made people do what she asked them to do without her being commanding, then on top of that she is generally caring about everyone and has this air about her that just makes you feel like she can handle anything. But to Jeremy, her does what she says because he thinks she's hot.
Jeremy shortly returned with Anderson in tow, to take Blue home. All her protests and fights lessened once her beau came, in a short while he took her home. Jeremy and Aurora had to take heartbroken Kim home a little while later, as the Bradley's bachelor party soon broke off.
As Jeremy walked Aurora home, after they had dropped of Kim, her house being a few streets after Kim's, the two conversed about random things; from about their work to their colleagues.
"Really I had no idea Kim had a boyfriend or even dated anyone at all. Really" Jeremy was saying to Aurora as they walked towards her home, pausing to take a drink from the can of chilled beer in his hand, two more in his other hand. Okay, maybe, it wasn't the brandy, he might have a drinking problem.
"Like really she doesn't give off the vibes of someone who is in the dating market or something" he added still talking about Kim as he crumpled the can in his hand (as much as he could) and tossed it to the side of the street, opening a fresh can and taking a big swig.
"You really should stop drinking like that" Aurora sternly told him. When he said nothing and chugged more beer, she said, "If you get drunk and slump on the road, I will not take you home nor carry you into my house, for you are too heavy for me to carry" she folded her arms, shrugging her shoulders
Jeremy laughed at that and let down on the beer for a while
"That's because she wasn't" Aurora said, totally confusing the partly drunk Jeremy. "I am talking about Kim, about what you said earlier" she said in way of explanation. He was still hopelessly confused, exasperating the usually patient Latina.
"You said she doesn't give off vibes of someone who is in the dating market, well, that's because she wasn't" Aurora said slowly till Jeremy nodded his head in understanding. "She was with Max for fourteen years and he just sent her a text earlier today that's it's over. What a heartless bloke?"
"14 years!" Jeremy was incredulous, "How can someone be in a relationship for 14 years, no marriage. Jeez!"
"Yeah, it's quite some time" Aurora agreed, "Kim has always wanted for them to get married, but whenever she brought it up, he would push it aside saying he wasn't ready. What a douche. He wasn't ready for fourteen years"
"If he wasn't ready in fourteen years, he is never going to be ready" Jeremy returned to the can, chugging down some more beer, it's a miracle he is not a staggering drunk by now with all the alcohol he has consumed this night. His alcohol tolerance sometimes is downright impressive.
"Or maybe he never wanted it to be with her. He didn't love her" Aurora said as she stopped for a street dog to run past.
"What if it was Kim all along?" Jeremy said, opening his last can.
"What?"
"Don't get it the wrong way but, was Kim this… you know… big at the start of the relationship?"
"Jeremy!" Aurora was appalled. Far be it from straitlaced miss Aurora to talk about the body size of her colleague and friend.
Okay, so maybe Kim was a bit extra weight, plus size if you will and she didn't start the relationship that way fourteen years ago. She was actually pretty slim back then, before she started having depression, began stress eating, over eating, until she just had gained so much more pounds and at that point didn't know what else to do. She started becoming ashamed of herself, hating her look, Aurora helped her snap out of it, and now she is eating healthier and actually trying for herself.
Still, Aurora thought, added weight is no reason to end things with someone you claimed you love, so abruptly, after being together for so long. Max was just a plain jerk, and the lowlife probably only ended things now because he could finally afford his own place. Asshat!
"I mean really think about it, Kim did sorta let herself go, she is like what, four, five times her former size" Aurora heard Jimmy saying as she got out of her head, fishing for her door card as they stood at her front door.
"She added weight and so what? She is still beautiful. Max is just some real nasty person" Aurora said, as she bent slightly forward to open her door with her automated door card. She wasn't living in some highbrow suburb area where house doors are opened with fingerprint or voice recognition, in her neighborhood, things were still basic and somehow backward; as such they still used outdated automated door cards.
Jeremy leaned on the wall facing her front door, as they stood in the hallway of her apartment building, his eyes fixed on her ass as she opened her front door. Damn, that ass is perfect!
"Thanks for walking me home" Aurora said turning around suddenly, that Jeremy would have been caught staring if he hadn't quickly averted his eyes. The alcohol was certainly messing with his brain.
"uh, yeah, sure" he rushed out a reply, barely even registering what she said.
"Alright, goodnight" she said, stepping into her house, her door not open wide enough that he could see much inside.
"Goodnight" he said back, not making any move to leave. Aurora waited, still at the door.
"Um, are you not going to go home?" she asked
"hmm?" his drink addled brain could think of nothing further than that to say, because he hadn't really planned on walking her home and then walking home alone afterwards.
"Oh my, Jeremy! I would not invite you in to sleep over" Aurora could see straight through him.
Jeremy wondered if he had voiced his thought out loud.
When he still stood there looking like a locked out puppy, Aurora realized he was fairly drunk, it was really late into the night, the streets weren't exactly safe in this neighborhood, he was going to have to walk home and he probably lived far; she pitied him.
"Come on in" she said, widening her door, his face lit up at her words as he quickly accepted her invitation. She usually never let men sleep over in her house, as a matter of fact, he is the first guy to ever enter her house.
Jeremy took in the interior of her house, it was very minimalistic, boring and welcoming at the same time. This is so Aurora's house. As he was taking in the house décor, she laid down some rules for the night, no entering her room; he is to remain on the couch, no drinking; not like she had any drink to give him, no leaving the toilet seat open; if uses the bathroom…. She went on and on. So many rules for just one night.
Jeremy had fallen asleep sprawled out on her minimalist grey sofa before she had even gone through one third of her rules list. She sighed and went to bed herself, being tired as she was, she fell asleep immediately her head hit the pillow.
